Haha, love hearing the history. No vanos codes at all. Are you sure it's the same one? The last owner had it for 6 years (small kids) and the guy before that 10 or 12 years, I have had it over 2 years. Vanos was done by original owner. Budget - 5-8k I have had my e36 M3 for over 2 years now and still thoroughly enjoy it. For that reason I am ready to spend some reasonable coin bring the chassis and drivetrain back to as new condition as possible. I my plan has always been to do it myself but two years on and I still haven't found the time. SO, can you help me with rough costs for doing the following things and also suggest any other ideas. Vanos - not rattling but what am I missing out on if it's poked. Bushes Ball joints Shocks? Dampener adjustable? Springs - H&R? Want a little lower buy not scraping. Tensioner - EVO - already purchased. Install? Wheel spacers - 25mm? Steering rack - Z3 already purchased. Diff mounting, suspension reinforcing, engine mount. What else? I had a look at this as I need something for the wife to convince her I can buy Brents 328i. It rough, but all panel and paint. Drove beautifully and engine was quiet. Private seller who wanted 3-4k. Not sure what it went for. I was planning on throwing a bid at it, but got caught up at work. I work next door to Auckland turners. Let me know if anyone wants me to take a quick look. Having won an auction for a Z3 on TM, today we drove up north to pick it up. Prior to bidding I discussed with the seller that I would be bidding on the basis he had advised me of what he should "reasonably" be aware of with regards to condition of the car. ... I was aware it was in need of clean up but generally sound and nothing a few weekends couldn't fix. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case and I arrived to see a vehicle with spider cracks covering pretty much the entire vehicle. .. needless to say, he was very good about me walking away and agreed he should have advised me of this issue when we spoke on the phone. ANYWAY having sold the E36 328i to Rubix, I am now looking for a convertible for the wife and it doesn't have to be a Z3. She wants a run around for summer and it doesn't need to be mint.
