  1. When are those night speed drag wars on next at Meremere? Or do they only run during the summer?I wouldn't mind taking the 560 up and giving it a run :mosh:

Just like my Mercedes, not tricky sh*t, just relies on cubes a grunt. How f**king awesome.Dunno what so funny about that statement, the M20B25 doesn't come to life until 4k, and has a whopping 125kw at 5500rpm, 1000 before redline
  3. I was reding thru a Wheels mag today (Australian mag). and in 95, they had a 540 against the rattly VS HSV GTS 215kw 5.7 stroker, and gave the nod to the Holden. Anyone that has experience got an opinion on that?

And you really think they tried to get all the power out of that thing as they could? That beast would have to be one of the most under stressed engines out there.
  5. Hope this works... Stock 525i, no need to do anything to it, sounds f**king grouse imo. Suppose the sound gets better with age - 220,000km :mosh: Haha, if that was in my Merc, it would be doing 160+ by the end of filming. But the 2.5 does an acceptable job of making it move. e34_m20.mpeg
  6. Vey nice, especially the wheels Dunno what your budget is like, but maybe you could lay down 4 grand for the 750 on trade me with no reserve? If its still on there, looks like a clean car. I think this car, or a car like it was mentioned on here a few months ago and was for sale.

    Music

I'm not a big follower of rap, but the only culture of rap I see is a bunch of wannabies thinking the came from the bronx, who idolise 50cent and all the others from the mainstream secene. Its a f**king joke, I'm buggered if I know how someone can get a NY slum accent by growing up in NZ, or somehow limp without being shot in the leg, and dress like rappers/gangsters in the middle of summer. I see and hear this sh*t everyday, its f**king pathetic. If thats the rap culture, I can't see anything to be proud of, and I would prefer the music without it. sh*t, if 'fiddy' went around in a pink Hyundai instad of a 'benz on chromes I'm sure all the sheep here would rush out and buy Hyundais :gay: (on finance of course) As for the music, my mates got a huge selection, I was listening to 'bone thugs n harmony' and a few more but couldn't really get into it considering it was a bunch of black guys being 'oppressed' by 'da pigs' and white men Apart from that da beats were orrite. Good enough to listen to a few times.
  8. The new Maximas are quick, would probably blow the doors off any 6 cylinder family car out there. My old man looked at one and could have got the luxury Ti model for under $45k. The interior is pretty cool, better than the Aussie cars anyway (I prefer the Honda Accord interiors). Falcons are too slow, they do over 100 in first gear, and apart from torque and power, I couldn't pick any great improvements over my 1988 E34 (no I don't have my head stuck up my arse). The Commodore is due for replacement in a few months I think, but the current ones are sh*t as already stated haha. The Camrys would look good if we were in 1995, and their engine specs haven't changed since. The only time I see new Camrys is when they sitting on warves in fleet numbers of driving out of retirement villages :gay:
  9. Are you serious?
  10. The dirty old M20 on 220,000km has 10W-40 at the moment but uses about 100ml per 1000km, which is quite a lot I think so next oil change I'll try 20W-50, due in a few thousand km or the next month... I gotta give the Merc one next weekend, needs 8L of the stuff
  11. Those V6 Vectras with the factory body kit in silver looks the part. Or the Honda Accord Euro with 6 spd manual are pretty quick (vtek y0), but typical Japanese styling that will date in a couple of years imo. Too bad you need to have four doors- XR6 Turbo ute is around that price mark.
  12. Half of our drivers are too f**king stupid to drive at 100kmh let alone anything more. Typical knee jerk reaction to raise the driving age to 18 after those dickheads wrapped their shitbox round a tree up north. That'll just mean more inexperience on our roads. But yeah, getting a license it far too easy, and 'defensive driving' classes are a joke.
  13. Stick it under your parents name (so it will be their car technically) and say that you will be the main driver. Thats what I have done for the 525i and 560SEC and I'm only paying $25 a week, and I'm 17. My mum shares the driving with me so theres no bullshit going on. I don't even think I would get insurance on both of them if they were in my name. The BMW is $7/week, the Merc $18 :mosh:
  14. Parts are cheap, and they are simple cars so servicing shouldn't be a problem, just DIY it. 318i is an ideal first car, thats what I got when I was 15. Slow as sh*t, but I'd kill for the gas consumption again, my best was 6.6l/100km, which is better than Toyotas claim for the Echo.
  15. Escorts are the most successful rally cars to date I think. Its a bugger Ford don't have a worthy replacement (light, rwd). I've always seen E30s as modern Escorts, back when they made basic, light, fun rwd cars, before they got weighed down with sh*t like luxury electrics and compulsory saftey technology (E36). Hell, my E30 didn't even have power steering :mosh:
  16. Different?Don't you mean better Too right, I put 20,000km on my 525i in the first year, and I'm only a 3km drive from school, or 1km drive from the CBD The more I think about it, I want that 535...
  17. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-32610359.htm Go for it! I have to say, after recently buying an S Class Merc, the E34 is a f**kING AWESOME car and I shall own one forever . You will not be disappointed. If that 535 auction came up one month earlier, I could of had two of em. Not to be tho, so heres your chance...
  18. Yeah. Having a 5 star Renault Clio or whatever is all well and good, until it meets head on with a >2 tonne land barge.http://www.whnet.com/4x4/w140crash.html Some alright pics there.
  19. haha, that piece of sh*t is still driving around Wellington, I'm not going to list it though.E30 318i manual - made $1500 profit on it :mosh: 1974 Mercedes 280S - 400,000 km and no one could blow it up, ran on 5 cylinders, but was still faster than the 318i :gay: current - 525i manual, Mercedes 560SEC, both from 1988  the pre 1990s cars
  20. Too right. no doubt if that was to ever happen here, you'd get some tree hugging lefty crying out about the hostage takers rights :gay: :rambo:
  21. Yea, the reason why i took a 560 over one, but dreams are free haha.Gotta agree on the cheap Jappa tho. You wont have to drive around with the windows down all day because of the smell pizza, or any fast food leaves in the car :puke: You could even get a cheap beaten up E30 318 for the job.
  22. Possible cars mentioned in this thread Yours is too expensive BTW, the 750s have 400nm at 1000rpm I read :mosh: Peak is 450 iirc.
  23. There was a black E34 540 on trademe not long ago for 11k. You will get a good one for 16k. E38 740is are cheap now, and I've seen quite a few advertised for less than 16. Or theres the E32 750iL, which will put anything mentioned here to shame... down the strip :mosh:

    Mercedes parts

Probably not the most successful place to advertsie but I'll give it a go. Timing chain for a 86-91 560 Rocker cover gaskets camshafts and crankshaft end seals 1 guide rail 5 guides Same engine as the 5.0L and 4.5L (m117), but dunno if its the same parts. Bought the car a couple of weeks ago, and although it has a service history, nothing about a chain replacement was noted. So I bought the parts and took the car in, only to find out the chain etc was about 30,000km old Big f**king waste of time, but better to be safe than sorry. $500
