  1. I'm sure the same thing can be said for anyone who has wasted their money on a new E Class. Despite all the recalls plagued with the new model, they fork out at least 100 grand, and get bulid quality no better than an Accord. And they will have to spend 140k to go faster than a 2.4 Accord too! f**king posers. Some of Clarkson's sh*t is funny, such as choosing the VW Golf over the Honda Civic because the Hondas, well, a Honda and a review of the Monaro he wrote concluded on "I was rather hoping to hate the Holden. I was hoping to conclude by saying the Aussies should stick to waving at flies." lol but I would rather watch Tiff. More cheerful and informative, has better driving action, ohh, and doesn't have his head stuck up his arse like Clarkson. Has anyone with a f**king clue learnt anything off Top Gear? Doubt it. Sure, thats not the main point of the show, but still..
  2. It will 10 years down the track. I wouldn't have bought mine without a history, I'm looking at Merc S Classes at the mo, and if theres no history, I'll be running a mile, as should anyone with half a brain. I wouldn't want a car some f**king poser has owned who hasnt changed the oil for 50,000km

    New car...

True. I was talking about the sporty ones. Factory body kit, alloys and sports seats. Unlike most Jap cars, their shape has aged well too.

    Owned

f**k, I didn't see this thread until now, gutted about that, all of us I'm sure. Twas the nicest car at the megameet, imo. If it is a write off, maybe you could somehow swap the LSD for a single spinner behind their backs??? since thats what every E30 owner seems to desire haha

    New car...

A 90s Falcon on LPG. Just make sure you have some black jeans and ACDC t-shirts to look the part. Couldn't go wrong with an early 90s 2.0 Primera, in manual. That would be my pick out of the Jappas. Its possible to pick up tidy ones these days for under 6 grand.
  7. Isn't there a black one one trademe for 30 grand?
  8. f**k all.Pretty much all new cars these days are autos. There are a few exceptions, like MX5s, turboed Legacys and WRXs, but its not enough
  9. True, I read in an Aussie mag that there will be no manual one, but just checked that the press car was a 330 man, European model. So if they Aussie market doesn't get the 330 manual, we probably wont, but the diesel manual might be just as quick.
  10. Yea agreed on the Primera tail lights. And the 330i doesnt come in manual. f**k em. Lately Bangle Bimmers have been getting a caining for build quality. Hopefully they get their sh*t together before turning into another MB. Meanwhile the Japs are improving on every model. New Accords, Legacy and Maxima for example...
  11. Apparantly the Nissan 350Zs have been having trouble in car washes too. the door handles can be opened by the brushes as they sit verticle on the edge of the door, so it would prolly be best to lock em up.
  12. did a 7:20.069 using quick tune after about 5 laps. Will prob try again later.
  13. Quick tune, whats that? Soft slicks or something? cos theres about 5 different tyre choices. Will have a shot when I get home tonight :mosh:

    Merc wagon

A guy at school has one. It went down to the 525 last year from a standing start, but it was a 230TE auto (so that would make it a 2.3? or 2.5?). But yeah, chuck on some alloys and it'll be looking good, even the small factory ones. Too bad the new E classes aren't as good as these ones. f**k, come to think of it, all new Mercedes

    GT4 Progress Thread

about 85% thru, ~85% win ratio. I'm getting real pissed off with the enduros. I try to enter in a car that will give me a challenge (like slower than the competition), but usless B spec pulls about 5-10 second slower laps, and when I return, I'm about 2 laps down, and I don't really wanna sit there for hours catching up. There should be a save in pits instead of B spec imo. And the Falcon race car sounds like the real thing too :mosh:

    best idea

http://www.roadrage.com/ The one that would be used most often in Wellington... :mosh: :rambo:
  17. Theres been a few 190E cossies on trademe for under 10 grand lately... Hopefully some wannabe doesn't pick one up and 'pimp' them, highly unlikely since they are manual anyway. As for new Mercedes, one word, sh*t. The 126 S class was the last of the best, real ones. 450kw and 1000nm don't mean sh*t when the body containing it looks Korean and the quality is no better than a Suburu.
  18. I'm 17 and stuck the car in my mums name when I bought it. She then rang the insurance company and said it was her car but I would be a driver for some percentage of the time. The result is 7 bucks per week :mosh: about $365/year. It hepls if you have an alarm and garage I believe.
  19. Fair enough, but vans are just the same. Quite a lot of families still get around in L300s and Hiaces, and its just as bad to see round a Previa etc, so picking on just SUVs alone isn't really fair. Don't stop there, I'm sure the majority of V8 luxury car drivers don't need a V8. hell, what the f**k am I doing in a 5 series, being a 17 y/o still living at home. I should be in a little Suzuki or something, cos just like a lot of families in your example, in reality I don't need a large 6cyl car. Be consistent, fellas. How boring life would be if we only had things that we needed.
  20. For the record, a Commodore station wagon is longer than a Nissan Patrol lwb, as is a Chrysler Voyager, Theres only about 10-15cm difference, but the point still stands. I can tollerate 'SUV drivers' more than parrots who don't know what the f**k they are on about.
  21. I read a US mag that got an E34 535 manual 0-100 in 7 seconds :mosh: Thats quicker than an E30 M3 I think, other wise, you could get a mint late 80s 750i for 15 grand, which will put most cars on NZ roads to shame.
  22. True, but most people don't look at it like that way. They just think 'BMW, ohhhh', not knowing a f**king thing about them, only that they are/were considered exotic or higher class etc, while hepling to flood the roads with them, making them as common as Holdens or Fords. Go and flick thru an Autotrader and see how many E36s are in there :banghead: Its a different story in Aussie tho, check out used Euro car prices over there. Gutted for them. I toot, doing no favours for the stereotype
  23. Yeah, showing how accesible they are now, just another common brand, unlike 5+ years ago, where they were actually, I dunno, a status symbol?BTW, there a quite a few BMW taxis in Wgtn, including an E30! Go to Europe and see what they use as taxis
  24. BMWs arent anything special now. An E34 is the same price as an VN Calais or EB Fairmont. Same thing with the E32s, E38s and E39s with the Fords or Holdens. We are f**king lucky in this country as far as that goes, and people are realising how cheap BMWs are, epecially since there are a sh*t load of posers in E36s, mostly blonde women, worse than the stereotypical SUV driver imo. At school I've been called a fag and a homo while in my car, but I told them to f**k off. If I was in a Corolla I wouldn't have got a second look. Some cheeky bastard also kicked the soul of his school shoes down the back quarter panel leaving a black mark and small dent. Lucky I didn't catch him. And I have discovered small scratches, but not sure if it vandalism or my cat, cos he climbs over the car too hah. But I always get let in at traffic, kiwi drivers are quite good at that imo.
