Awesome. One question on the E32, whats it like for traction? Easy to smoke the wheels on take off? Or just grip and go? NZ Autocar said when they were behind the wheel of a 560 Benz, they nailed the throttle at 60kmh, and the rear wheels lit up. Sounds like they might be hard to get off the line fast, still awesome though :mosh:

Farrrk they look mean. Theres a black E32 750 in the same suburb as me, has blacked out kidney grille surrounds, looks soooo evil in the rear view mirror, cannot take my eyes off it while driving
-
yes, please do Yeah. They look awesome in black too. Yeah 735i seem reasonable as far as performance go, but they just aren't the same as an 8... or 12. Only thing thats putting me off them is reading US boards where owners are warning future buyers of spending half the purchase cost in repairs within the first year. Scary. Gunna go job hunting this coming week anyway. Other cheaper option would be an 86-91 560 SEL Benz, torque monster :mosh:

Not complaints with 100kmh coming up in under 7 seconds, or the 1/4 mile in under 15  Sleeper :mosh:

mmmm rear leg room

Found thiis US test on the net, form C&D magazine. I might be interested in buying one, depending on whether I get an after school job or not (to pay for all the expensive sh*t that appears to go wrong in them, unlike the E34), so naturally, I've been doing some reading. :mosh:

No manual 7 series since the E32 I think, but they make manual 645s, so some maybe some sh*t could be played around with there?

Was in eb games yesterday asking about GT4. They said March 10, and they got some offer on, trade in 3 recent games and get GT4 for 10 bucks, on pre order.

In my old E30 318 I got 160km from 10 litres. That works out to about 6.6km/l. Haven't worked out what i get in the 525, the gague is so inaccurate its not worth the hassle.

Looking good. Was that thing on trademe? Mmm black looks sooo much better imo. Especially with red interior, although I have grown to like white E34s. If its an auto, whats it like compared to the 5spd/M20?

I was reading about that on an Aussie Holden forum, and they reckon it was his car, under his mothers insurance (bugger for his mum ) They also claim he was doing 160 down the main street before mounting the kerb. Musta thought he was Skaife or someone :gay: Apparantly he wrote of 8 cars or something like that. Wonder if he'll get any insurance now...

Better sounding engine- Ford 289, 302 or 351 V8 (matter of opinion, of course) Sounds like a good once in a life time event, does anyone know how many are in the country? Speaking of those sorts of cars, I saw a 996 GT3 RS at Manfield today

4WDing is awesome. I am temped to get a Nissan Patrol when I get another car soon, but I think an S Class will win me over. I think if I had a 4wd, being in the city, I would leave it dirty, as no greenie fag will scratch it, as it it being used for its main purpose (thats one of their lame arguements ). If they did, I would probably arrive in time just as they are driving off in their shitbox smokey Lada or something. Hmm, closest I have got to 4wding in recent years is mud donuts in the 5 series :mosh: Just aint the same tho.

rice- all show, no go. Visually distacefully (if there is such a word) modified. They are two definitions that have stuck with me. I'm all for anti-rice, but f**k, some of the stupid sh*t on our roads needs to be addressed, yet goes unoticed by the cops. Lights aren't one of them. If anyone gets distracted by neons or whatever they shouldn't be on the roads in the first place. Maybe they should ban billboards too

A guy at school a couple of years ago had one. He thought he would beat my dads 3.0 Maxima when I was driving it round. Lucky for him that day didn't come.Yeah, being a manual I don't know how it would be, my mum had an E28 520 man, and that was probably the most gutless manual car ever. Saw heaps of redline around Wellingtons hills though :mosh:

175k is nothing 210k for me and still going strong :mosh:

A legal 17 :mosh: Not that everyone waits till they're legal

Bro, that sh*t comes as a no cost factory option on a lot of Commodores and Falcons. Brake shudder is one of the few memories that I have of the late 90s cars of above. Whats the stuff that drips from the air con after its been on, if you had it on (I have't actually taken any notice of it before)

Cheers martyyn, sounds good. We will probably start looking next month, so theres no rush at the moment. I have a 1997 mag of a 740iL v S420 v Audi A8 and the Lexus LS400 or whatever its called, and the bimmer comes out on top. Its rear leg room is about twice that of the Mercedes. It's bloody huge.

Cheers for that. Yeah it was the Nikasil issue that I was refering to, and had got that idea off the North American sites too. Yeah thats one of the problems with the Benz

What are common problems for E38s, and is there anything suspect about them now, especially with the early examples? Was the M60 quality issue of the E34 and E32 days sorted by the time the E38 had landed? We are getting another car in the house in the next few months, and the W140 S420 is possible, but typical dodgy Merc electronics have sorta put a question mark over them, but was just wanting to get some good/bads of the 740s.

True, thast the same story when I got mine as a first car.As for insurance, say it is your mums car, and you are a 10% driver. Thats what I did with my old E30 and it cost me about $5 a week For this to happen I had to put the car in her name, which is no problem. But that looks like a tidy one. First upgrade I'd do would be some bottlecaps. Silver E30s look awesome with basketweaves too.

Yea. It sounds even better when the E30 is cheaper than the cheapest E36s, going from what I've seen on trademe.co.nz and the Autotrader mag.E30s aren't as common as E36s too. I reckon that mint versions will hold their value better, and will be much more sought after in years to come, a bit like 2002s are now (quite a long wait until that happens I think).
