  1. As someone who has tried bodykits and still has some in stock you need to be very very very careful with the quality. We actually visited the factory and watched them make kits before deciding to go ahead with an order. Our factory made kits for Veilside so we got to see first hand their construction techniques and how thick the fibreglass was. Sorry to say ,but at the prices that you have quoted I would not expect to them to be of a very high quality (ie very thin fibreglass).

You also need to take into account that there will be breakages when they are shipped as they tend to just lay them in a container and the port guys are not very careful with the cranes. Have you fully sorted the costs out yet? If you are doing a container (which is generally how the Chinese operate on minimum orders), you are up for at least $3k straight away for shipping costs which does not include any MAF or associated charges. As you are not a recognised importer I would hazard a guess that MAF will stop the container to check it which = more $$$. Have you got MAF approved facilities to unload the container? Where are you going to store the goods? Bear in mind that there are also detention charges on containers if you do not get them back within 5 days.

Managed warehousing is probably best for you in that you only pay for the amount of room you use and as you sell more the cost comes down bcause you are using less warehousing.

We also imported PU body kits. PU is a flexible plastic and far superior to FRP. We actually watched a guy fold it in half before letting it go back to shape and fitting it again. The downside is that it require more care (flexible primer) when painting, but the fit and finish of them is excellent .

I am not having a go at you Heino, I just want to make sure you are fully aware of all the "hidden costs". Having done this now for over 6 years and jumping through hoops for MAF we know all about the hidden pitfalls.

  2. There are a set of genuine BMW ones on TradeMe at the moment, with ET40 off-set, not staggered

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=330363878

I dopn't think they are genuine for a couple of reasons.

    1. E46 M3 are all staggered and the offset is not factory.

    2. No genuine BMW wheels came with a 40ET.

Unfortunately our reps are only currently available in 5 series fitment.

Edit; I think we sold them to him actually.

  3. Hey guys,

I've havent bought many wheel cleaners before and have been pretty much using some good old Palmolive Dishwashing Liquid ;) for most of the time cause I wash the car once a week. There are some bits on my wheel that the grime just simply wont come off. So what cleaners do u use / recommend?

    Cheers

    Nick

As others have said I wouldn't be using palmolive. Car wash and a sponge is best for regular cleaning. What exactly is on there? If it is brake dust it is more than likely ingrained and will not come about without some major remedial work. Have you tried bug and tar remover?

  4. E65 745i , thanks.

Are you in Auckland? I am sure ours is an AC shcnitzer kit. You are welcome to come and have a look at it.

Blackie - we also have Schnitzer style side skirts in stock

    cheers

    Johno

    Edit: Spelling

  5. The population of this country is 4 million

2 million are retired, that leaves 2 million to do the work

There are 1.5 million at school / university leaving 500,000 to do the work

Of those, 450,000 are "employed" by the govt, so there's only 50,000 to do the work

4000 are in Armed Forces, busy trying to catch Osama which leaves just 46,600 to do the work

Take from that total the 10,000 unemployed people and, at any given time 18,800 people are in hospitals, leaving 17,800 to do the work.

Currently we have 17,798 people in prisons.

That just leaves 2 people, you and me.

And there you are sitting on your a$$!!

  6. that'd be mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get to look at the wheels im saving for =)

It really isn't glamourous work and can be physically exhausting, especially when we have a 40FT High Cube of tyres ( almost 1500 tyres). I might have missed it in the original post but when exactly do you finish school? We have a container arriving early next week and always on the look out for extra hands :)

  7. Will do...

A little unrelated query. I was told by 'suspension' that the legal height for a vehicle is 100mm from the ground at the lowest structural point.

well, that seems to be the middle section of my muffler and it looks to already be at 120mm.

Yet he also said 45mm would be the lowest i could drop.

Id love to drop the front by about 40mm (that would bring my oil sump to about 100mm from the ground, dodgy?)

And i guess the back by 20mm.

this would probably still stay legal. Would it ruin the stance?

Your muffler is not considered a structural point. Structural points are generally chassis rails or cross members (or the sump in your case  ).. Most BMW kits do lower the front more than the rear and tend to even out the "stance".
