  1. not sure if its leaking, could all the water have boiled out or will there definately be a leak?? what am I looking at worst case scenario in $$$ ?
  2. Hey guys if you read this and have any idea PLEASE let me know as I urgently need my car, just now my car over heated, steam and all, I caught it early and turned it off and the steam stopped straight away, however once it had cooled down a bit I took a look at the water and it was nearly totally empty! WTF?! Fill it up, add coolant and its still doing it, I can hear it boiling after, (I stop before it gets too hot) the temp gauge rises over half way and thats enough for me as it NEVER does that, Now, yesterday I replaced the valve cover gasket, could this in any way be causing the overheating?? Did I do anything by taking of my rocker cover? I am in serious crap if I cant use my car tomorrow, anyone got any ideas??? Thanks, Alex.

it took me about a day to fully strip the car, then to sand it and bog up little bits took me about 5 days, then to paint it took me about 2 or 3 days but i was workin at my own pace and I dunno how fast anyone else gets it done.

  15. so the flange is different but thats not a big deal, as long as it bolts to the head, also what ollie said, what power gain am I lookin at by doin this?
  16. glad to see no one got hurt, i think its time for some "kit" turbo boost intsall, next time you can just jump over the bus or fly straight through, i know what u mean about the superstition having been crashed into quite badly very soon after getting my license, ages ago now tho, but has stuck with me ever since, I hope the damage isnt too bad and the bus driver gets whats coming.
  17. hey all, just outta curiosity, will an exhaust manifold off a facelift e30 320i fit on my pre facelift e30 320i? Will it make any difference?? Cheers.
  18. lol i can second that ur lights are very dull ... swap u mine for ur leather seats edit: typo
  19. update: Idle has been fixed, now idles properly, it turned out to be an air leak in the manifold, but thats all fixed and working now, the ONLY thing not perfect, is the cold idle, it doesent have a good cold idle, and I have to warm up the car (not that I mind) before I go, even with this little problem, the idle is WAY better, I dont mind sitting for a minute or so, now the car seems to be performing a little better, smoother and just generally seems healthier lol, is it the ICV which controls the cold idle?? ie, as I said I just replaced my old one, so could it be the valve?? Cheers. Alex.
  20. it moves in an out when the throttle opens and closes, seems to be working fine, hmmm...
  21. So AGES later I finally replaced my idle control valve, if u wish I can post up a pic of my old one, it had blue , silcion/rubber type something hanging out both the water ends... weird also it had started corroding and just generally didnt work... replaced that, and I think the car idles smoother but no lower, it still idles a bit high, there is one crack in a hose which I had to re-use because I dont have another, but which i am getting onto, its the vacuum hose that is NOT connecting to the thermostat housing, the crack is where the jubilee clip sits thats why I wasnt too worried about re-using it... ANYWAY... once I replaced the valve adjusted my idle screw, and its as tight as it can go, however the idle is still too high, could this one crack in the hose be the cause of the high idle??? note that for a little while after I installed the new valve the idle dropped to near normal... but then just did the same thing as usual... it idles cold at 1.8 and warm at 1.1 ... too high in my books.. any ideas?? Cheers.
  22. sounds like it could be your indicator switch, take a poke around the switch itself and see if theres anything loose there... but with the window wipers my car does this as well.. or atleast it used to until I accidentally fixed it, they would suddenly stop working, ie, I could move the switch to any position and no wipers, and one time I got really pissed off, and pulled it back to spray water on my windows, much harder than I would normally, and something clicked and now it works fine, ever since then lol!
  23. i doubt not having an oil change will kill her.. my old car a 94 waggon.. which I bought in 2004 still had its stock oil filter on when I gave it an oil change.. oil was so black it could block out the sun! And I do mine every 6 months too,
