  1. Well ive been a bimmersport member for a little while so i thought i would post a pic of my 4 door FL in all its Jacked up massive ride height glory Needs lowering but Manual Swap takes priority and then im onto some work on the Z31 Nissan
  2. ok well im going to get under there and check ive decided because if its a 3.9 or 4.1 i will buy it. now the name plate with the numbers on it. Does it plainly tell me the ratio or do i need to know the last 3 numbers to match up to the list or something how does that work?
  3. rats That makes it non facelift non M40, as above only had a quick glance and was missing many panels. So i know its an M10 Auto. What does that make for the ratio ?
  4. now next question what is the easier way to find out if its M40 ?
  5. Well I have located a 318 at a secret place that i wont tell you. its a 318 auto Looks to be FL but hard to tell as only had a quick as look and all bumpers are missing. I was wondering what ratio it is possible for the diff to be 4.27 and 4.1 spring to mind ? Anybody have any info on this?
  6. Well so far so good. Today a mate came around and we started to join the two halves. Electrical tape hed it togeahter quite nicely and that allowed us to flex it apart and get insde there with the bog fibre stuff. we have done about 1/2 so far. After this it will need blocking back and fixing small bits where its sunk in before the whole things gets sanded down and primed .
  7. Hi guys As title says for E30 I need a shift lever boot/surrond for the gear stock due to manual conversion & on the off chance somebody has an E30 clutch line they will sell that would be way easier than having one made. cheers

Electirc windows arn't that great unless they work perfectly I have never been stuck with a window open but you have to press one switch a certain way and one window you can wind down on the front controls and have to wind up with the rear door control. Gets to be a pain. $200 could be better spent on service items first then perhaps look at electric windows ?
  9. Any reason for carbon fibre apart from looks ? if its not for looks you could approach a boat builder who has expertiese in moulding and fibreglassing and go about produceing a bonnet this way ?

Hi guys I have just had my getrag box back from My do it all engineer who used to build race box's Had the fluid flushed, front and rear seals replaced & gearbox was tested under load and is in perfect condition aparently .He told me to check what oil to put in there as it may require ATF fluid I believe this is a FL box as it has no hole for the flywheel sensor and i think David (silverfox) said that it came from an earlier car so im not sure as to what year the box is. I have read other things online on other forums saying that depending on what colour sticker you have on the gearbox relates to the diffierent oil type. this from another forum Red Label................... Dexron II auto tranny fluid Green Label............... Synth gear oil No label..................... api-GL-4 SAE 80 Non-hypoid gear oil or single grade HD engine oil So how do I know what "label" I have if I even have one??? Are they refering to a label on the tranny somewhere?? Im just confused and would like to be totally sure im using the correct oil. my initial thoughts were Redline or Ams oil 75/90 fully synthetic manual gearbox oil. But above suggests otherwise

    You might find a car painter who is happy to advise you on the steps you need to take and come and inspect your work and point you in the right direction as you go. THe idea being you do all the prep work and said painter will come to your house and do the actual painting. For not very much $$ This is how a friend painted his Alfa 156 for about $300 ( turned out mint ) This way you have done all the prep and saved cost and you still get a very good finish for a fraction of the price. BTW prep work sucks unless you have a big compressor for using air tools
  12. When was the air filter last checked replaced ? And if my memory serves me correctly if one of the water temp senders isn't work properly can that cause problems with the ecu trying to think diffierently ? please correct me if im wrong. Checking all the regular service stuff isn't a bad idea. if it dosn't fix the problem you still might find an increase somewhere !
  13. Yeah im not a fan of boy racer honda's no my bmw is not an M and it is slow for a 2000cc car. No matter what else i drive nothing gives the satisfaction like the bmw does unless its well sorted Datsun/Nissan ZX which sounds grunty and drives like its on rails. I will take a classic car over HP anyday of the week for me ! But if you expand on the Hoody Dx corolla thing you forgot to mention the desprung cars which the doors wont open because the whole car is all out of shape. But a nice rotor car sounds so good on song

Just put a rebuilt engine back in a 1990 turbo Legacy and what a pain in the ass to work on. for anything to be done the engine has to come out, you can't change spark plugs without about 10 bends in your arm,the gearbox's are fairly weak and if you are too hard launching the car you strip teeth on first gear. and most of the water cooled intercoolers don't work properly because of the pump design. and because of where the turbo/exhaust is piston no 3 has a habbit of becoming toast. So who owns the car with a stupid design ? I think that explains it all really. Bmw may have used torx bolts but that hardly makes the car a pos ! not when its a balaced good handling good looking RWD
  15. well since it was badly cracked around the seam where the two pieces join it made sense to slpit it into two pieces and go about repairing the edges. as you can see on one of the pics i have been using this kind of bog/fiberous/resin stuff which sets boody hard and has a fibre mat thing in it so it seemed the perfect thing to use. i have bogged up the edges on one half and i will work/sand this back down and do the same on the other side so i have two edges that can key into each other and proceed to stick the whole thing back togeather with the same fancy bog stuff. hopefully the end result will work well. if it dosn't i learn't something and didn't spend the said $20 on Macdonalds
  16. price is very negotiable if anybody needs one please let me know . Or if you have a E30 with wof that has a stuffed auto for sale i would think about buying it to get it running again.
  17. Hey dudes today i picked up a hartage rear spoiler for $20 needs to be re fibreglassed around the seam but otherwise after a paint it will come up great . I was thinking the best way to repair it would be to sand down all around the seam and have somebody put on a layer of glass/resin to really hold it togeather so i could then sand/bog it smooth and have it painted. Or i was thinking i could use that bog which already has those layers of mesh in it and just do the same thing but with the bog. will look cool when its done. I intend to paint it myself since i have all the gear avalible. same car had 3 awesome looking mags too which annoyed me as the 4th was nowhere to be seen. any idea's on fixing it ?
  18. Big respect for doing Hardcore NA engine mods and not just putting in another bmw 6. It will be very rewarding knowing that you have built an older engine that can take down most newer twincam engines in hp and torque thats just oldschool !

Hi Guys as title says Automatic Transmission from 1990 E30 320i This appears to be the normal transmission ie it DOES not have any sport/power hold buttons ect Good condition does not slip in any gear changes smoothly, fluid is nice and clean. Selling due to manual conversion being fitted soon. $300 ONO willing to drop price if somebody removes or helps to remove !   22. have one currently in a car in chch changes smoothly ect that will be up for sale sometime soon, still waiting on getting my 5spd box back from the reconditioners. Probally no good if you need it in a hurry but it will be offered soon. PM me if interested and perhaps we could work something out.
  23. Jack up the back of the car and put it safely on some stands, then i would suggest getting a torch and having a real good look around all the suspension components to look for anythin thats been rubbing or scuffing and that should let you know whats not working properly. Checking everything over is aways a good start when sonething has gone wrong. Good luck anyway dude
