You would think a Rebound & Compression adjustable coilover shock could be setup to ride very nicely. Maybe they ship with some massive spring rate which is ok for a racetrack and not some of NZ roads ?

Don't forget to do a urethane bushings kit ! Control arms, Sway bar links Subframe ect. Usually Cheap to buy and easy enough to install.

I have only lowered 35mm and i can't get my jack under the sump ( trolley jack ) so it might not look that low with the gap at the gaurds and all ,but under the front it sits lower than it looks. I don't have trouble hitting things. To me it looks like 120mm from the sump to the garage floor. But i live rural and i have to watch potholes in the road and be carefully going along shingle roads and steep driveways.

Jap Import Don't have any other service history from before i bought the car. Was a trade in from a car dealer friend of mine but i was told a fairly fussy lady drove it. certianly i may not have much service history from its past but the way in rides and drives is a good indication that the car was always looked after. It would appear to me the shocks and steering rack were done before i bought the car but as i say i do not have any real proof of this. All major service work has been done recently ie anything that normally goes wrong with these cars ( see above )

On my E30 (FL) they used a box to fit both the wiper relays in when on intermittant the relay seems to not contact properly and the shudder of the wipers seems to be in time with the relay not working properly. when on normal speed you can see the relay right next to it was fully closed or fully open and not tapping and messing about like the other one was. We carefully took the relay out of its case to find this out.

1:Do the manual conversion 2: Do suspension ie bilsteins and decent springs urethane bushings ect 3: fix dents if you don't do the 2.7 i would still reccomend putting in the 2.5 engine. I converted my 320i to manual and wished i had bothered to swap in a 2.5 engine i was un impressed with the lack of power . I somehow had my hopes pinned on the gearbox making more diffierence than it actually did. I ended up rebuilding the head & doing camblet water pump facing exhast manifold ect on my engine and it would have been nice to spend the money on the engine which had a bit more power.

Would the Person that phoned me at work and had a chat to me about the car please send me a PM My phone seemed to cut out and i could not seem to ring you back. Regards Jimmy

I would be interested in buying one maybe $100 ?? if they will they be gelcoated and a nice finish ?

Hi Thanks for the interest but $2500 is just not enough I realise my inital price is fairly high but money has been spent and for $2500 i would struggle to find another car that was in good nick with a service history. However if somebody feels like making a significantly better offer they are welcome I am in no rush for a sale, but for the right price somebody will get a good E30

What sort of price do you think is fair
-
I normally use caltex 95, never tried 98 because one time i used a bottle of octane boost forumula ( cost $15 ) and put it with the 95 and it made no diffierence at all.

Is there any point in doin' a manual conversion??
tibbs.james replied to chris-mazon's topic in Performance
Should be about $600 for all the main parts you need, gearbox crossmember driveshaft flywheel release fork clutch pedal and brake pedal ect and then i chose to use new clutch kit $300, new slave Cylinder $35 and new master Cylinder $70 and i had to have all the clutch lines made to length and bent up which was $60. but it was well worth it even tho it does not really feel that much faster, Put in a 2.5 motor at the same time. i wish i did. -
I'm not trying to take down the car you wish to buy, its a nice car being the 325 model and the black leather looks great and the auto's go very well considering they are an old slush box. My 320 had done 140,000 when i had to rebuild the cylinder head, that was approx $1000 inc all cambelt head studs gaskets and machine work. It could possibly be ready for some front brakes ect and if not done already it might need some shocks. This isn't because i have my 320i listed for sale but i was amazed how quickly i spend $2000 in parts alone. ( (at trade price ) considering that my car is the same age and mileage. $4000 sounds a bit steep considering he has no service history. Be ready for some maintenance, and i would suggest that you find the "right" car when it pops up becase buying a car just because you want to go on the mystery cruise might bite back later on down the trail. Great cars, i love mine ! good luck with this dude. ( i wish i had started with a 325 )

You could have the the wheel sent to "Simmins Wheels" in Aus as they do all types of custom race wheels ect they should easily be able to whip something up. Most of the Dumlop Targa NZ field use Simmons Race wheels. -
Well today after polytech I went to see my Dads Mate " Paul Carter " the owner operator of Import Part Specilists on lichfield street they do Euro/Jap Car parts brakes cv's tires ect . So i went in looking to kit out the front suspension of my Z31 300ZX apart from the fact he didn't stock anything and neither did his usual Supplier We found tie rods for $15 from his normal supplier in auckland, ball joints were $25 each, then as we were having trouble finding anybody in NZ who have decent Front Struts/Strut inserts for the bloody thing we rang George Stocks and it turns out they do a Koni Rebound adjustable front shock for $267 each ( trade Price ) considering BNT Wanted $313 ( trade ) for their "sport" insert kit i think its a bloody good deal !. Basically i can get it back on wheels for $700 ish which i am very rapped with ! So minus some kings stiffer rate springs ( to match my rear king springs ) and sway bar link/bush set i will have the front end decked out ! Front pads are 90% and rotors are machineable and far from min thickness. Very exiting to get things moving after seeing the poor old girl on chassis stands for over 12 months ! here is a pic to remind you guys what a Z31 is ! also pics of the Leather steering wheel, big brake conversion & top half of engine mocked up with cleaned/painted components

Yep Still has the 30mm Lowered Eibach springs ! Interrior pics as promised Crack on dash isn't very bad at all. Front leather seats look ok but there are small cracks as you can see in photo Rear leather is pretty good as are door cards. carpet is in good cond too.

Yeah I'm trying to be realistic with price as i said full reciepts for all parts If it dosn't go im quite happy to keep it untill the right person comes along. It goes pretty well, about as well as any 2.0 Car should but to be honest it could use a bit more power. But with the manual gearbox it drives well revs smoothly. but its no M20B25 With auto box it did 0-100 in about 12 seconds so it should be a lot better with the manual but i have not tried Oh Box is a Getrag 260 aslo.

Anyone got a spare $55k for a Fairlady Z Roadster ?
tibbs.james replied to RvT's topic in General Discussion
Datsun 240z or 260z would be my first preference of the the fairlady Z lineup, but thats why i own a Z31 as nobody can afford a mint datsun 240/260 anymore That car is umm fairly out there....... -
I just Recently Coverted my E30 to Manual For the Park/Neutral what i did was i cut the plug end off the automatic gear selector, found the wire which has 12v with a multimeter. then i knew which were the power wires and which were not. then i made a fused testing wire and just tried the remaining combonation of wires untill i could crank over the car. Fairly easy to do that bit. However I am still stuck as for reverse lights...

I Second that the haynes manual is rubbish mine is almost useless apart from finding out what torque the bolts are ment to be ....
