  1. I used these ones http://www.e30performance.info/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=231 http://www.e30clubsa.co.za/forum/index.php?/topic/50-gearbox-conversion-auto-4hp22-to-manual-getrag-260-e30-325i/
  2. I had a few book marked somewhere, i'll post the links up when I find them.
  3. The awesome Dog and Lemon review of the E30 Also included the E39 one bmw_3-series_e30_1983-91_touring_to_1994.pdf bmw_5-series_e39_1996-04.pdf
  4. He sells individual reports on his website, i got one years ago after i'd had an e30 for ages, was quite surprised how bad he thinks they are.
  5. According to the Dog and Lemon book, that E30 should have been ruined over 10 years ago, with blown headgasket, oil leaks, ruined gearbox, etc etc etc.. If anyone wants a good laugh, pm your email addy and i'll send you the PDF Its the most useless report i'I've ever seen.
  6. I have someone interested in my E30, however in the mean time.. Sunroof internal Pic to show lack of Rust. Video to show all the front Window switches now work (one of the rear windows a tad on the slow side).
  7. I've had good luck with most of my e30's. But i did have a fuel pump fail on my old 320i which stranded me at the Bakery about 3km's from work.
  8. +1 on the lotto ticket, it shows how solid the E34 is for an old beast too
  9. This http://9gag.com/gag/aAY0KnR
  10. Sorry, its only for the facelift e30 325i, no sensor holes.
  11. Hi there, I have the Under steering wheel panel and its currently installed. I sold the 14" basketweave wheels when i got the much better Hartge wheels. Its a busy time of the year for me, you would need to collect the car and drive it back. Or try http://www.captaintransporter.co.nz/quote-request/car they do it for $220 + GST from Rangiora to Picton Thats cheap considering fuel etc to drive it back and get to Rangiora/Christchurch Thanks Charles
  12. yeah should be all good still, I prefer that ratio with the ZF gearbox myself, but it will still be fine for sure. Already you have more power and torque then stock, so it should do quite well i'd imagine Have a read of this post, this person had exactly the same issue your having now. http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74031
  13. Good point, i see hes got an M50B25 engine, if its got the gearbox that comes with the M50 engine then it would be a good diff ratio to match that gearbox, but with the stock M20B25 gearbox (Get rag 260) it would be doing quite low RPM at 100k with that 3.25 and would be slower 0-100 etc
  14. You could just call him and ask if the 3.91 will fit instead, it would be better for your car anyway, it will be rather slow with a 3.25 Diff, unless you have some big ass turbo and 300whp Also there are two sides to every story, being non technical you may not have understood what was required as far as installing the LSD goes. An E30 LSD often goes for $1000 on trade me and you got $150 off the original price, so all up $800, its not that bad a price really. As I deal with customers for a living I'm cautious about taking sides.
  15. This is the facelift model motronic 1.3 version. I think you need the older pre-facelift type for that? but i'll check for you after work Cheers

New AA 550cca Battery Dyno Run last year to see how much power the car is making, 102kw at the wheels, which means it hasn't lost much power over the years and this was done before any of the work above. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/835/imag0315ga.jpg/ (DYNO RUN) Car handles and drives well for its age. In good condition for a 24 year old car, however as per Pics it could do with some panel and paint work especially on the passenger side if you wanted it to be mint, however my focus was having a car that drives well above anything else. The dash has some cracking, the seats are not perfect, but not bad for the age. Faults: very Small oil leak from Gearbox, (not enough to cause any issues) over a year its probably lost less then 30mls Has Pre-facelift Front Lip instead of the Correct Facelift Model Lip. A/C was regassed, however it needs a new Drier Unit, so its still not functional. Could do with a Wheel Alignment, hasn't had one since before the Suspension and shocks were replaced. Electric Window Control Switches, 2 need to be replaced. Price, $4800 FIRM!. Selling to save towards an E39 530I or 540I I am located in Rangiora, 30km's from Christchurch. 17. I purchased this as a spare for my E30 325i, but suspect i'll never be needing it. Its from a Motorsport E30 325i, Tech 2, that had about 85,000k on it when it was crashed. I was told this by the guy I purchased it from here on bimmersport who got it from Ray at Hellbm, so i suspect that its true. $600 + Shipping. Or Pickup in Rangiora Christchurch impreza20k@hotmail.com or 027-3892701 Uploaded with ImageShack.us Thanks Charles
  18. Thanks for all the feedback guys, I might drive both and go from there.
  19. Hi Guys, Early next year i'm going to get around to selling my E30 and hopefully buy an E39. I have 2 weeks off work Mid January and will finally have some time to look properly. I like the quiet ride these provide along with the value for money. I do a lot of open road driving, but which one should I buy? I used to have an old 528i with the Jatco Gearbox, which was ok, but lacked power and was a bit harsh changing from 1st to 2nd gear (typical Jatco). That was an older 1996 example, i'd be looking at something like: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=665748484 530I http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/540i/auction-669761838.htm 540I Would the 530i be a better experience then the 528I? or not enough of an upgrade? Basically I like them in Silver with the Motorsport Kits. I recently drove a 525i Motorsport Wagon, from 2002 and found that it was also under powered for my tastes, however i'd imagine the wagon version is heavier? Whilst i'd love the 540i model, fuel economy and maintenance costs do come into it, as my 75km return commute to work includes about 20km's of stuck in traffic town driving. Does anyone know what these models use in the real world? ie how much more does the V8 really use? I'd assume that for either models I mentioned, that the 1st thing to do is overhaul the cooling system. I love the old E30 and all, but its not the most comfortable car as a daily driver. Cheers Charles
  20. Now this is my idea of an awesome car. A BMW 1M with an M5 V10
  21. I was thinking the same thing. If it was my money, it would be the Hellrot
  22. I'd go for Brents, being a 2000, it will be able to get 12 Month Wof's once that new law comes in. but a 1999 will not..
  23. One thing I've neglected to ever get done on this car is the panel and paint. Most of the cars pretty good, however the passenger side really needs replacement doors and front guard. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I have sent Brent a PM as hopefully this parts car he's got has a matching paint code http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/exterior/auction-661963088.htm , well all mine says is Astral Silver Metallic, it has no code that I can see, its an S.Acar. But its worth asking all the same, as it would be better then fixing mine I suspect.
  24. Hmmm, most likely, I like the originality of the old M20 Engine PM me a price, cheers
  25. Welcome, I like the old W201's, despite their age, they have less road noise then my 2005 Golf gti, infact a lot less then that. I sold my W201 a few months ago, it was only the 2.3 4 Cylinder Model and managed to average 7.5L/100k on a road trip, which i thought was good considering that model has no lock up torque converter.
