  1. Hmmm, nice value there, I'd probably buy this car without a second thought, had i not started the building of a house, I now have no spare money and will probably never get to own an M3..doh
  2. Most Paint/Panel shops can do this, i'd recommend Andrews and Gilmore on Welles Street off Colombo St
  3. LOL i had this car on my watch list too, was keen to buy it to use for parts to convert mine to manual, however I ended up buying the manual conversion parts from a member on here in Auckland. Mines also an SA Import with leather seats. Fun cars for sure
  4. Manual conversion parts now found and on the way to Christchurch from Auckland, so will be able to do away with the old ZF auto box and put in the Getrag 260. Ran car through for a WOF today, to get an idea of what repairs are needed, failed on leaking front shock and worn front right wheel bearing, bad timing though, I'm off to Queenstown on Monday and have no time to fix it.. but taking it anyway.. I'm an AA Plus member
  5. Have now found most of the parts from forum member Euro_M325i I still need the gearshift knob and boot, but can this be used with the automatic surround? or do I need to find one from a 4 dr manual car? Cheers
  6. Finally got around to taking out Gauge Cluster to replace bulbs, 10min job, was worried that it was going to be tricky, as I read online that it might that 1 to 1.5hours. Next up, manual conversion. Wanted ad placed for manual conversion bits.
  7. I have new vanos seals, I ordered them for my 1996 528i but sold it before I had a chance to install. If you want them let me know, (for Single Vanos 528i) will do it cheaper what you would pay from the supplier. http://www.beisansystems.com/products.html the One on the top Left
  8. Hi Guys, I'm looking for all the parts to convert my 1989 E30 325i to manual, its running fine as an automatic, however I know these cars are much better with a manual gearbox (used to have a manual one so I know). Keep in mind I'm in Christchurch, so you need to be willing to put this gear on a Pallet and have it bulk freighted to me if your out of Christchurch. Cheers Charles
  9. Pulled out Dash Cluster on my E30 and replaced bulbs, (Only one side was lighting up). Fixed Ciggie Lighter (blown fuse) and interior light (blown bulb).
  10. My 96 528i averaged 14.1L/100k using 95 fuel. about 50% of the driving was back roads (still 50km areas) without much stop and go. I remember one day I was stuck in lots of traffic and it went up to 17L/100k. My current 1989 325i is averaging 11.9L/100k with the same driving conditions, which to me is odd, since its a much older design technology wise.
  11. yes good point, used to be easy about 5 years ago, was plenty of rough fresh import ones available ex Japan, often showing 70,000k on the clock but looking like they had done 370,000k. Doesn't seem to be any rough ones around for sale now days.. In a way, its hard to think of many BMW's that are more fun then this E30 Tech 2 around the 11k price range, so perhaps they are worth this price. I guess a car is worth as much as someone's willing to pay for it.
  12. Nice car, but I couldn't justify 11k on an E30 that's not an M3, to me a tech or tech II is just another E30 325i that looks a bit nicer then the normal run of the mill models, can upgrade the handling etc on any of the models anyway..
  13. What would this be like as a daily driver? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-476498612.htm Currently the only car I have is my E30 325i, if anything I'd feel more comfortable having a backup car in case I need to take the E30 off the road at any time to do work on it.
  14. Not much news, got some new tyres, finished my audio install, haven't fixed central locking at this stage. I'm going to stick with the 14" weaves for now as the Earthquake damaged roads are crap and those 65 series tyres help absorb some of the bumpiness. Just ordered some matching E30 Grey Mats from the UK designed for the E30 (So they fit properly) Ordered a Xenon/Hid Upgrade, (just all new 55w bulbs for low beam, high beam, fog lights). Ordered some bulbs for the speedo cluster (Only one side lights up, its a bit risky not being able to see the Tacho/TEMP gauge side on an E30 at night.
  15. Welcome back. I'm the same, got rid of my Honda Collection and gone back to BMW's, I had a Turbo EF7 CRX, Si Vtec Prelude and an SIR Accord. Now I have a humble E30 325i SA import automatic and couldn't be happier, well I could, but I can't convert it to manual as the missus won't drive a manual car, sometimes its handy having a sober driver after a night out.
  16. Mate came online and I asked what he used, was called Irontite and he got it from Repco, 2 years later his Hilux is still working with this fix.. crazy heh, he goes off roading in it too..
  17. You could drain the fluid and flush with water and ad a head gasket repair liquid, this might buy you a couple of months so that you have a car to use for a while. A product such as http://www.lovemycarnz.co.nz/?/products/product-page/670 A mate of mine used something similar to keep his car going for a while, 18 months later it was still running. Of course this isn't a proper fix, more of a band aid, but it might buy you some time.
  18. The central locking is no longer working at all, so the 1st thing I am going to try is : http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.p...ck_Wire_Problem I can hear the relay click (took it out from where it lives in the speaker hole, cleaned wiring and connectors). Only the drivers side electric windows work, so I will try swapping some window switches around to see if the fault is with those. Stereo install is paused until these other issues are sorted.
  19. Quick Update: Replaced: Oil + filter, air filter, sparkplugs, thermostat, coolant, topped up trans fluid. Cars running like a champ, installed the spare wheel for now as one of the back tyres was stuffed. By accident I ran battery flat (Headlight switch playing up, suspect Park lights for on for many hours) battery voltage down to 11.5v, couldn't start, and for some reason only one tail light working. got brother in law to come over and give the car a jump, suddenly brakes and tails working fine again, took out the panel under steering wheel so I can hang onto headlight switch to ensure they turn off. I hope to finish my Audio Install over the weekend.
  20. It didn't like my ZA made E30 325i, for one it thinks its a 2 door instead of 4 door. It also shows me no options.
  21. The E39 has been told today, was on Trademe less then 24hrs before someone clicked "buy now" and the car has been paid for and collected, meaning my only form of transport is the mighty E30. I got some leather cleaner/conditioner today and gave the seats a good going over. I have installed the Amp and Sub + wiring and head unit, currently only running off factory fronts until I make some MDF Spacers etc. I need to replace the thermostat (stuck open), coolant and oil + filter and aim to do this during the week after work. I also need to source a radio Antenna, as the one the came with has been removed and been replaced with a rubber grommet, the wirings still there though. surprisingly I can still get radio reception of sorts without it..
  22. I started to organise my car audio gear tonight (To go in the E30) One thing I like in a car is good sound. I am installing DLS Components + Tweeters (not in pic) Infinity Amp 4 Channel Amp (278w RMS to sub and 111w RMS to each front speaker and tweeter), Atomic Manhattan SQ Sub. This is a basic SQ setup for front sound stage, I have some 9mm MDF spacers so that the speakers will fit in the kick panels. Uploaded with ImageShack.us As you can see, plenty of boot space for my Tiny sub. Out with the old. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Not bad for a 23 year old Interior, will come up nice with a bit of a Clean. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  23. Looks like I haven't kicked my E30 Obsession. Purchased from a forum member, this will be a project car of sorts, its an SA 325i auto with Leather Sport seats etc. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
