Believe me; dizzy cap was the first thing I checked! You participating in the track day on Saturday Jed? I won't have enough $$$ after repairs are done. May try and make the one in August. Do you have details of that one? PM me if so. Cheers!

I LOL'ed Graham's on to it Riley.... he knows his stuff.

Wow, what a cynical lot of BMW enthusiasts you all are.... wasn't anything as bad as the above! Not sure 100% yet what it is. But mechanic thinks it's the secondary lifter pump in the fuel tank. Car got low on fuel, was parked on a hill and just wouldn't fire. Apparently it's been like this for ages and the shards of crap from the lifter pump shitting itself may have been what caused my main pump to get noisy and have to be replaced initially. AA paid for the tow thankfully, would've been pissed if I paid to have it towed and then learned I just needed to fill it with enough petrol for the main pump to start sucking it up!

Just noticed the front suspension loaded up from the winch tension. That'd be a sweet height if I lowered it. Not minor electrical problem Henry, but car is (was) in Heathcote... keep guessing.

Yes, the interior quality of an E36 can be rubbish.... compared to other luxury cars I find it pretty darn impressive though compared to many other 10 year old cars. Drove a brand new Holden Colorado ute today. Interior was crappy black plastic with painted silver accents (paint was already coming off), Flimsy glovebox and door cards, speakers rattled at even the sight of a bass frequency, horrible blanking plates to cover up switches for options not ticked on the option list. Overall just shitty, would rather have a well-used E36!

I've been looking for the right stuff to do this EVERYWHERE... no one has it. Where do you get this stuff from... Glenn I'm also very interested in the products you used.

PM Matt (Ecko_complex) ... he's turboed his M3 on stock internals and will be able to give you insight/advice.

Wouldn't let my GF drive my car to find out if she likes it or not! She still hates me for selling the E36. The E30 is too "bumpy" apparently. *sigh*.

^^^ Money shifting is when you go to shift from 3rd to 4th at high rpms but accidentally hook 2nd. Ensuing carnage costs a lot of money to fix hence the term.
-
Ouch money shift! At least you've got all the gear to do an engine swap. I always "old man" shift from 1st into 4th. Doesn't make for quick 0-100 times!

Welcome back to the E30 club! Sweet car... looks like a good buy! Lady owner too... (which means it smells of perfume and has been backed into lamposts on a regular basis.) I vote to leave the current spoiler on the car... suits the iS better IMO. iS lip needs to be fitted too (but I'm sure you're already onto that one!)

^^ Where did you get that info from?! Care to explain yourself to all the guys that have just bought Z3 short shifters for their 328's? Z3 short shift works on all E30 and E36 manual cars.

Welcome to the E30 club.

Yeah, I know I whore my car too much. Just having a couple of beers and playing around with post-processing... think these turned out cool.

Cool vid. What game is this from?

When your boyfriend asked you to "take care of your lawn and just leave a racing stripe", that's not what he meant.

Go buy a jar of smooth peanut butter. Seriously.... works a treat apparently. Spread on your mouldings, they come out shiny, then have some toast. Yum.
-
I will buy the wheels off whoever buys this. Soooooo tempted to buy whole thing considering it's in CHCH.....but low on cash at present. Dammit!!!

total noob looking to move in to BM stable

Welcome mate. One piece of advice.... spend a LOT of time researching on the net about the cars you wish to buy. By a lot I'm talking a couple of months at least. I spent about 3 months trawling the net absorbing everything I could about E36's and BMW's in general before I bought my old car. And even then I came across unexpected problems that I hadn't studied up on. The more you know, the more money you can save and the fewer times you'll have to drop $150 on an independent inspection at a reputable BMW workshop. -
^^ This is a BMW forum... GTFO noob.

OMG this is almost as bad as the guy who tried to port and polish his engine by sucking a bag of sand through the intake. Or the guy who welded extra fins onto his turbo. Or the guy who had a vision of the first "exhaust turbo", whereby by the exhaust is plumbed directly back into the intake in an inifinte loop of power. Or the guy who.... Yeah, there are a heap of morons out there.

^^ My brother edited the footage, so the cameo is all his doing (I didn't tell him to put it there... honest... I really didn't )

I used some popsicle sticks (not used ones) , wood glue and g-clamps to repair the broken part at the top of the door card. Then I carefully prised the metal clips open a bit more for a more secure fit. Vinyl centre part can be replaced at an upholsterer, or you can have a crack yourself with some 3M spray adhesive and material of your choice. Obviously it will be hard to match the vinyl correctly, so you may have to do all four cards.

Footage taken by my brother at the Trackday... Can't seem to embed it in the post (the video button isn't working for me), perhaps an admin can fix? Watch in HD for full awesomeness.
