  1. Just as an indication: There is a fellow member on here who is struggling to get $9k for a full-fruit M-Spec 328i manual that's done 96,000 k's. Perhaps do a bit of a search on Trademe for similar cars to yours and find out what the going rate is. Good luck!

    93 320i

If you're going for an auto... consider buying either a 318, which has similar performance to the 320 auto (and costs less to run fuel-wise), or go for a 323,325,328 as the extra power from the larger engined 6 cylinder cars is well worth it. Oh, and if the car is a Jap import (it will have "JPN" stamped in the centre of the speedometer) then check that the gearbox isn't jerky when cold. It's a costly problem to fix, however it's not something that will break the gearbox so you can live with it. Good luck!
  3. Good work Nick.... I love it when people get stuck in with the small jobs to make their car look and feel that little bit better. One hint: You can pick up the interior light bulbs at Supercheap Auto for a fraction of the cost of buying BMW ones. About $3 for a pack of 2 IIRC. I stocked up for when I need spares!

    autotrader

Yes, it's a scam. He will ask the buyer to deposit money via a Wire transfer and they'll never see it, or the car again.
  5. Welcome mate... saw that car on Trademe, looked pretty tidy apart from what appeared to be insulation tape wrapped around the steering wheel? Have you fixed that? Regardless... enjoy your stay!

    E36 M3 Cab

A recent Total BMW article on the M50 engined E34's mentioned that it was a very bad idea to start the car and then turn it off before the engine had a chance to warm up. They would either run terribly once started again or not start at all. I guess that could apply to other BMW engines as well?

    E36 M3 Cab

OSCAR, you are a troll. This thread will now be closed because of your pointless, arrogant and self-aggrandizing posts, which annoys me, because this thread was supposed to be about a car with an interesting history being restored to glory. I wish upon you the banstick.
  8. SD European do a drive in / drive out conversion for just over $3000.
  9. Nothing in the Buy Sell? Where do all the students get their cars for the Undie 500? Surely there must be some hunks of junk leftover from the event this year?

    Rear spoiler

Does the brake light in the spoiler work? If so, there will be a hole in the bootlid for wiring purposes. If this is the case, it may be easier and cheaper to buy a second hand bootlid in the same colour as your car and simply fitting that. However, if it is just tape holding the spoiler to the bootlid give this a go: Buy a can of Wax, Grease and Adhesive Remover from Supercheap, spray it under one corner of the spoiler and then grab some dental floss and begin to "floss" the spoiler off the bootlid, spraying more adhesive remover as necessary.
  11. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but if a strut brace has a hinge where it joins to the strut towers, then it's rubbish, because it's not actually "bracing the struts" as it will simply bend at the hinge under stress. My 2c.
  12. "In other news... Ryan buys a brand new M3 for everyone on Bimmersport" Oh thanks Ryan! What a top bloke!
  13. Yeah I'm running 64bit Vista. Can run the DVI>HDMI but would rather the HDMI worked cos that's what I paid for!
  14. Awesome. I've just built a Home Theatre PC to hook up to my 32" Samsung. Unfortunately the motherboard is faulty so I can't use the HDMI output. Soon I will have Bimmersport on my big screen.... soon my precious....

    E36 M3 Cab

Pics of said BMW enthusiast daughter? Haha! Nice work Ray, you sure know how to find the bargains!
  16. Call the AA if you're a member, or jump start the car again and drive to a nearby Auto sparky. They can do a couple of quick tests to determine if the battery is holding a charge and if the alternator is working properly. Most likely it will be your battery that has given up the ghost.
  17. Hey Paul, is it part 4 in this diagram? REALOEM Clicky

    My E30 325i

Nice work Kerry I propose a nickname for the car: "The Burgundy Bruiser"
  19. Man I can't wait... only 3 months before I turn 25!!! Even though I've never had an accident in 8 years of driving, they still won't give me better premiums than any other under 25 driver.
  20. Have you tried Eurorec on Blenheim Road?

    Face lift?

Just save up and buy a car with the kit already on it. To fit a tech I kit and paint it would cost around $1500 - $2000 and that's a lot of coin to spend on a base model 318i auto!
  22. Your dash should look like this: It looks as if your climate control unit has been moved into the cubbyhole/sunglass holder above the ASC button to make room for that hideous head unit. The "Kailas" thing is simply the trim/bracket that surrounds the aftermarket unit. To get the car back to stock you'll need to find an OEM stereo and relocate the climate control to its original position. Or, find a better looking double DIN headunit to fill the gap.
  23. Click here for a listing of the fuses in an E30. You're looking out for fuses 3 and 18 (NB: The above is from an American forum, so you'll be looking at the fuse box from the passenger side, rather than the drivers side.)
  24. Don't buy mirrors that don't have an OEM style wiring harness/plug. Ruining your harness isn't worth it for cheap copies of mirrors.
  25. If the car is getting hot while sitting stationary and then cooling down while driving it will be the Auxillary fan. Check the fuse... it could be blown.
