  1. $22??? I pay $11 an issue from my local bookshop.
  2. Not sure if it holds true for the E46, but earlier BMW's imported from Japan were assembled in Japan from knockdown kits freighted from Germany.
  3. Peril, welcome along... but watch the thread digs
  4. Turn your headlights on and go for a drive. The heat from the bulbs will generally dry them out.
  5. It has one. Check the link Tastic posted above.
  6. The one fear of M3 owners - "Inspection II"
  7. Oh dear, it's wearing more badges than a boy scout!
  8. Get calling beeyotches... It's only 2 and a half grand! That's chump change for a classic BMW. (What's the bet he starts getting calls and realises he's missed a zero and actually wants $25,000)
  9. Sorry, it wasn't for sale... was just in for a service I guess, parked in the car park at the back. Should have got the plate number but was too busy gawking!
  10. Saw a mint E34 540i 6 speed today at Chch BMW when I was buying some parts. Dark blue with dove grey leather and a set of Style 5's in excellent condition. Wiped my drool off it before I left!
  11. Do you need a working odometer to get a warrant?
  12. You may want to report the stolen plate to Police... it could be being used to steal petrol etc. Your bro may get a knock on his door otherwise!
  13. There was an absolutely mint one at Archibalds in CHCH that sold for about 12 grand about 8 months back. So, for the right car yep, prices are getting up there. Having said that, money talks and right now I don't speak the language! Fortunately Jed does and if it's in as good nick as the pictures suggest he may have stumbled on a bargain and one of the few BMW's that will start appreciating in value soon.
  14. Here we go... E30 318is: Info taken from Total BMW - August 2007 issue - M42 16v engine - 140bhp - Faster in a straight line than 323i and quite a lot quicker than a 320i -Engine detuned so not to embarass the 325i - Suspension from 325i sport - 325i disc brakes all round - 14 inch BBS basketweaves, or optional 15 inch version - Recaro style BMW sports seats with M3 checked cloth - M-Tech 1 leather steering wheel - Colour coded bumpers and mirrors - Shadowline trim - Green tinted glass - iS front spoiler
  15. Only 20 odd in fact. It was built to be a competitor to the Mark II Golf GTI, Peugeuot 106 and all the other hot hatches at the time as BMW was losing ground to the other manufacturers in that area. The car at the time was (and prob still is) faster than a 320i and almost as quick to the limit as a 325i. Also a lot more nimble thanks to the lighterweight engine. I have a Total BMW article on it somewhere, I'll see if I can find it and post some more info.
  16. Good work Jed... Get it polished up and post some pics ASAP!
  17. Fibreglass pieces are heavier and often require more work to fit properly. ABS and Poly bits are more expensive but fit better.
  18. Beautiful car, glad to see it finally went to a good home.

    Alpina 301?

The B3 is the Alpina version of the E36 3 series. Google "Alpina Register" for more info. B301? Not sure what that is!!!

    Engine Service

Hmmm... just googled a list of items checked and replaced during each type of service: Click here And it seems that replacing the spark plugs is a component of the Inspection II service, not an Inspection I (in fact, spark plugs aren't even checked in Inspection I) I'd ask for the spark plugs back to see if they're actually poked. EDIT: Thanks for the comments bout my car! I had the service done at Leading Edge Automotive as they have the BOSCH diagnostic system. They did a good job, but they did try to charge like a wounded bull for a new battery. (I had the AA head round to their workshop and install one for 90 dollars less)
  21. Not really... they're not OEM, but they're not shite. DEPO are the best aftermarket lights you can buy.

    Engine Service

Yeah... which service was it that you took it in for? For comparison, I took my car in for a service, and the oil change, oil filter, fluid check, air filter check etc cost $220 I bet they do!
  23. B&G Application Guide That may help you... it doesn't give you any numbers resembling the ones you've posted though.
