Heaps of people use solid engine mounts, I have never seen anyone have problems though. You should be using spring washers on the bolts anyways to prevent them from backing out. Read page 1, someone already asked and got the answer to why you would want solid mounts.

My b20 was the same actually.. Worst fuel economy ever. But mine ran rich as, You could tell by putting your hand behind the exhaust it would spit out water with black carbon all over my hand. Indicating unburnt fuel.. Meaning it's running rich.

It's e30's in general, they don't really throw any codes.. Just real basic functions. I think having a high ratio diff from you car being auto doesn't really help. You will prob gain more mileage out of a tank going to something like a 3.64 or 3.73. Does your car smell like it is running rich from the exhaust? Or spit out water / carbon deposits out the exhaust while it runs, or black smoke ?

Can be alot of other things, check condition of spark plugs (you can tell if the engine is running rich or what by the condition of them). Condition of the spark leads. Dirty injectors. Driving style.. Could be alot of other things too..

Yeah it is rotating mass and It does fight against the air to spin, So it would be depriving the engine of some very futile amount of power..

Whoops yeah you already have a sensor lol. My bad. Those e34 throttle sensors on the m20 are variable Throttle position sensors for the auto box. E30 one is just a wide open throttle switch.
-
I have a sensor if you want it, just $3.50 for postage and it's yours.. Just 2 screws and it changes over. You may have to remove the throttle body to swap it though. Does your one have a circle 6 pin plug?

Degrease the mofo.

I agree, Damn sexy car. And he does have tech2 sides, but they have been modified abit so they don't stick out as far. I believe he wanted to keep the black side moldings or else there is just too much white. The interior is sweeeet. Pics on e30tech I think. Google qimis e30 and then find him on e30tech then look at his threads.

I have always done mine by eye, Done it so many times I am pretty good at it lol. 1st time I used a plastic clutch alignment tool, They aren't that great to use. -
I went to buy a set of torx sockets from Repco a while back, They didn't sell any seperate so I was going to buy a set. The cheapest set was like $70. I was like F that, I don't have THAT many use for them to justify buying a set.
-
E10 and E14 IIRC, or 8mm / 11mm 12point sockets. My bellhousing bolts are 19mm hex head. Much easier.
-
Torx headed bolts? You can usually fit 12point sockets over them. Much easier when out of the car too.

Help Urgently required for my E30 Please

Make sure you have the bearing in there.. And you bang it all the way in, Some people just tap it in a little bit but it is meant to go all the way in (Get a socket that matches the outer race of the bearing and tap it in, don't force it in with the inner race). -
Oh didn't realize it would probably be cast piece and crack lol. Oh well. Welcome anyways
-
Hahaha, Good luck !

Jam the tip that protrudes of it in a vice then tighten the vice and it'll bend it and twist your shaft til it comes out.
-
Lol wtf. Where does one buy these from?
-
Probably any 3 series I would say.
-
Nah take it all out. You don't need that aux fan, it isn't on cars without A/C anyway. It uses the Fan clutch.. I removed all my A/C from the engine bay up to the pipes entering the firewall. Then put a blank over where teh A/C button was and yeah, sorted.
-
800m is hardly next door lol.
-
It's easy cos I've done it. You need to remove the light lens by baking the light in the oven then lifting the lens off carefully. Takes Alot of patience. Then once that's off you take the reflector piece out, spray it black, place it back in and done. Some people have done the same on their high beams but it isn't a good idea... You need the crosshairs for it to be done properly.
-
Oh well not everyone will be able to put the pieces together lol.
-
I am keen for some too. Maybe I will just better you all and get Delrin bushes. hehehe.
