I would interested to hear anybodys thoughts on just how a control unit upgrade on a standard engine would give noticable gains.Has anybody seen actual results on a dyno?
-
Not sure if its any indicator, because people could be taking them to Auckland Auto Trimmers or the like, but the entire time i have worked at Jerry Claytons, we havent replaced a roof. We replace windows on M3's and X5's daily however
-
Yes it is coming, u will see my old white 316i racing
-
If your cars are Jap or Singapore imports it is prob due to the oil not being changed at the recommended intervals.
-
I see little point with any of you guys changing chips in your DME or fitting aftermarket control units unless you start changing the internals of your engine.A chip or a LINK system may sound great if your a sucker and listen to the sales pitch but all its doing is throwing in more fuel into a engine with standard cams and compression and maybe advancing your ignition timing slightly which is not great when using crap NZ pump gas.

well done with your choice. we dont get the 525d in NZ, but i did however deliver a new one which was privately imported (bmw nz has no spares, tool etc so the guys f*cked) and it went really well indeed! i actually thought it was a 530i until i got out afterwards and looked!

Well i sold my S2 yesterday, and i have bought a 1990 E30 316i. basically the same as the old one, but it has a tacho and economy thing and that extra headlight switch thing. Also seems to have a different rear parcel tray, which is strange because it is 1 owner, and only 1 year newer than my last 1 owner 316i? pics to come when i get it on tuesday. Its bronzitbeige metallic manual coupe

Dude, keep it 1.6L and sell it. Im sure that your car (like most 316i's) is only 1 or 2 previous owners, low km and perfect nick, so sell it and get a good price for it- you should be able to get 4.5- 5.5k for it
