Other than I'm no race car driver, but noticed the differance between the two racks, which the Z3 is far more noticable if you are able to come across one. Peter R, fitted one in his Alpina, and spoke highly of the change over.
-
The Z3 1.9 rack is the quickest of them all, followed by the E36 M3 rack. The Z3 rack bolts straight into the E30 and the E36 need spacers. With both racks you need to change your Power Stering hose fittings .

As the title says, this is a genuine one not a copy, comes with the Turner case and handbook for fitting. If you want to read more about this go to www.turnermotorsport.com This is for the US M3 with the DME ending in 071 OFFERS. Wayne

I'm more concerned as to how to clean up the mess if they are thinking of melting over these cars. I guess you would need more than fabric cleaner aye

Car is NZ new and imported from Germay by Mc Millans in 1994, the car spun a bearing, hence the $7k engine rebuild, with the engine out it was common sense to replace the clutch and presure plate, you will find that the engine builder was Taylor Automotive in Newmarket who rebuild BMW and other Euorpean Motors. Taylor's mention that there are two reasons as to why it would have spun a bearing, 1) not changing the oil, or 2) reving the motor when the oil temperture is'nt up to normal temperture. I'm not sure if you have been to see the car, but everything mentioned above is in the carglove box, other then telling you it was a spun bearing.

StyleM5 I think it's the weekend of the 10th March at Taupo. Does anyone know if it's on the new track this year, as last year we weren't allowed on it?
-
I just had the M3 down at Barvian this afternoon and all set for Taupo, as well. Have you booked at the hotel yet? How many on this site going down in March with the BMWCC Event?

Nah your right, it appears that it's common issue with the E30's that under the heat shield right at the back by the bolt hole, they rust around the stud. Not a biggie, about the size of a 20 cent piece, rust killed it and put a rubber grommit in it.. until I fix it properly. Now it has the Z3 Steering Rack in, it's arwsome :mosh:
-
Conrod I'm with you on the $$$ for HP, it would be cheaper for me to buy that motor than spending huge $$ on s14 to the same level of HP. Wayne
-
Gus !! What's re the Rust? I'm lost on that one...
-
Conrod Don't you already have one of these motors? If so why would you need two. Cheers Wayne

Great purchase Doug..... maybe we should get a group photo of the M3's together. Did you get to meet up with Roland and head down to Dunedin? If so any photo's to share.
-
For the E30 M3 standard it's 19lbs Evo 2\3 it's 12 lbs, for track it's 8lbs and you get gearbox chatter, but for your's that light.... it will interesting to see the outcome of yours... more so from a standing start, i'm sure it will spool up quicker to redline, but comes at a price noisy gearbox. Let us know how it works out.
