I am confused about which oil I should be using... 1986 318i M10B18 I went to Page and asked for the right oil for my M10. I assumed they would know what was right. Later on I looked at the receipt, it says they sold me 10w30. Now if I understand right, 10w30 is a low viscosity oil for low temperature operation, so its not right for the car. I asked another specialist and they said 20w50 is what I should be using. So I ask my cousin, another mechanic to hook me up with some 20w50. He comes back and says na na what you want is 15w40, and the 20w50 is only really used on motorbikes. I also consulted the bentley manual and the table in there indicvates 20w50 is what I need This makes tastic very confused! I have 4 different yet reputable sources telling me different things. Can someone clear this up for me? What oil should I be using?? Cheers

When I was chatting to you Kym I wasn't talking about the e24 m6, I was talking about the worked Alpina M30 e24. B10 I think it was called. I think it said in TBMW 260 odd hp? Dont quote me on that. But yea would be cheaper to boost I guess... Perhaps less reliable.

Speaking of s14.. apparently you can use s14 HG on a bored out m10. Thought that was cool. M10 is hooked up, if any1 is wondering, it takes two m10x90mm and two m8x90mm (or 85mm if you can find) bolts. Just popped down to the local to get some sh*t and look what was on the can of degreaser...m10

That looked like quite a bit of rust, good on you for fixing it and saving the E30 The reps are cool, I can't wait to see it dropped too. Oh and nice color

I'm pretty sure I've been driven in that car. If its the same one it belonged to the brother of my late Grandfathers funeral director. I went with the director to drop something off and he took me back to the church in it after I told him I had an E30 If it is that one, its nice.

Cheers Cam I was thinking about using the tranny mounting bolts but they will be too short to clear the mounting tubes on the stand (tubes are 65mm, realoem says tranny bolts are 45mm). I need to shop for a 90mm x M8 (i think its m8??)

nutri-grain But seriously, getting the f**ker on the stand this weekend is not going to be easy with just me and one other. Is there any where thats shows what holes on the block to use... I can only see one by where the starter goes but haven't looked incredibly hard?
