  5. If any one is interested in a 6 speed box for a conversion, Pm me. I have a spare one sitting in the garage.. (removed from a 3.0 Z4 with approx 40km)
  6. I'm pretty sure it is, I've done it on my x5 with the BM54..
  7. you can use the original jap wiring just change the pins around on the plug, as shown on the attached pdf
  8. You need a "climate control relocation unit" like this (Random sample off ebay). this moves the climate control to where the sunglasses case is (which you then lose)
  9. The Mute works automatically. If it is staying on, the connection is not right - incorrect wiring / jack of whatever you plugged into it.. you will note the tv channels that aren't tuned to anything or very weak signal will mute also..
  10. I suspect you could if you had the appropriate tools etc to do so. A guy here in the Hawkes Bay was recently convicted for dangerous driving, causing injury after he smashed into a merc (old school) with his HSV Holden. it was proven that his speed was in excess of 200kph shortly before the impact. the information was stored in the airbag module. It was a "test case" but i would expect to see more of it happening as the technology allows and as the police don't have the ability the use the old "skid marks measurement" method anymore with most cars having ABS etc.. so they'll be looking at ways to convict persons with there own cars telling them exactly what they need... In this case the airbag module was seized as evidence from the car...
  11. Yes, do you have the jap nav system already? if yes, you will need to spend about $1000 to change to a "Euro type" to work in NZ. PM me if you need to know anything more..
  12. wow, I feel like crawling up into a ball and never going out on the roads again. scary
  13. link link #2 please don't tell me people actually buy this stuff?!?!?!?
  14. keep an eye on ebay. Ive seen 2x 6 speed 850csi box's in the last couple of months... one of them was brand new! check ebay.de and ebay.com nothing like the 8k you mentioned and bolt straight up to your m73!
  15. the tv1 thing maybe the "country selection". someone may have changed it from when you first tuned tv1 I found selecting "Austria" (not Australia) works best in the Hawkes Bay. I can receive all channels.. where as if you select a different country, you would only receive some channels. Basically the different country option select different groups of channels for that country. (New Zealand isnt on the list, on any that I've seen anyway..) someone else in the area may be able to compare what they use??? hope that helps..
  16. The antenna thing... the early type radios C23, BM24 etc use a separate small coax for the signal wire to switch the antenna amp to use the best antenna length for the active freq ( AKA diversity antenna system ). The later radios BM53 & BM54 changed from a dual coax system to a single coax from the radio to the antenna amp. the signal from the radio to the amp is sent through that one coax wire. So.. If you have an old style antenna amp, with a new generation radio the diversity antenna system will not function. as Jochen says it will still pick up stations ok if you are near the transmission tower,(auckalnd's skytower) but at distance or hilly terrain etc the reception performance is greatly reduced. - I've tried it in the Hawkes Bay and its hopeless! you can pick up replacement antenna amps to upgrade fairly cheaply on ebay.. (the above applies to the standard head unit radios also, not just nav radios)
  17. Hi Matt, try this site, seems to work better than the other one.. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/ Make sure that Java software is updated on your pc.. Dean
  18. yes to the parts for the nav. thats exactly what you need.. BM54, BM53, BM24 would all do you for what you want.. BM54 is the latest greatest etc.. Dean
  19. oh you have a bm53, great. the TELON is used to "excite" the radio if it is turned off and you receive a phone call... the bm53 definitely has the ability for phone audio, seems odd it wont work for you..? maybe a line level issue?? or something... I have a bluetooth TCU unit for sale, you need to rearrange the pins on your plug and you will need a bluetooth antenna.. let me know if you are interested..
  20. Check directly on your radio plug... Old Gen - round pins in the plug = pin 4, TEL MUTE = Pull to ground pin 10, TEL ON = Pull to +12V - use if you connect the phone kit speaker/audio out interface into the radio... (not all radio modules have this input - if you have a C23 jap radio it doesnt) otherwise not needed. Dean
  21. sorry I dont, but I'm sure there are a few around..
  22. the memory is not stored "in the key", but the car memorizes the settings for that key.
  23. Here is what they need to do to activate the custom reverse mirror tilt settings: 1. Connect the car to the DIS system. 2. Choose "1. Car Memory" 3. Choose "9. Seat/Mirror Memory" 4. Choose "2. Mirror Memory Automatic Kerb Parking Function" 5. Choose "1. Active" (It is set to "Inactive" by default) 6. Upload the new settings to the car. 7. Turn the ingnition off and then back on. 8. Disconnect the car from the DIS system. To position the mirror: 1. Push the mirror selector switch to the passenger side. 2. Put the car in reverse. (The mirror should tilt down) 3. Adjust the mirror position to what ever makes you happy. 4. Put the car back into N or 1. (The mirror should tilt back up) That's it. Now when ever you back up the mirror will adjust to your custom settings, instead of all the way down. Please note that the mirror adjustment selector switch must be set to the passenger side for this to work. This is opposite of the way it works by default.
  24. so, what do you want it to do? not tilt? - select switch to pax side.. or adjusting the amount of tilt? there is a procedure for setting this up.. google it...
  25. if you need too, google "bmw wds" there are about 3 sites that have this and all seem to work differently with different browsers and Java versions etc.. some browsers wont show the "links to pin out" pages. the info is there for pin numbers. Look under "component and signal information/components/N_amplifiers, controllers, control units/N28 GPS reciever as Jochen says, easiest to replace with "normal" Euro units. slight wiring mod, easy to do.. just a bit of money for new parts!
