  1. 'The covers that I have are completely different to the one in your picture - no idea if they would fit on an E39 as again they are from an E46." Hi, i need one if those covers... Left side part no. 51117893067 is that the one you have? thanks
  2. good to hear the pinouts are correct, but interesting about the wire colour differences... weird, but not surprising really.. you should have plenty of spare wires to work the iPhone eject box.. its such a shame you loose your drink holders with one thou..! yeah the standard BT antenna is cheap enough, but don't look inside it when you get it.. you'll feel ripped off. let us know how you get on with the shark fin antenna.. i tried a WiFi antenna once, but it just wouldn't work.. so would be interesting to see if something else will...
  3. Is it definitely a JBIT in your e46? - I've only done a couple and they are the same as the E39.?? post a pic of your unit.. and plug to it.. the vics works "in-liine" with the radio antenna coax.. I've never seen any other antenna from a VICS, except a diversity control line..
  4. JBIT_to_ULF_wiring.pdf Hi, been there done that.. attached is what you need to do.. you can't use your "vics antenna" for the bluetooth antenna. you will need a new one. I'm in Wellington offen, let me know if you want a hand...
  5. the stereo is a nav system. uses the same nav drive as the full monitor versions.. I have a ZF Six speed box, and all the bits for a conversion (incl proper diff) sitting in the garage... very nice car for that..!
  6. check the loom about where your forefinger is in the picture. the plug is usually taped back there... or may not be pre wired.. you could run wires back to the radio module... but only useful if you have the right version radio module...
  7. 2000? Build date 04/98. still a bloody nice example.. if only it was a v12... or a CSI..
  8. anyone else thinking it would be great to do skids on that lawn in it....? mud and grass going everywhere... simple pleasures.
  9. I have come across this before with a mates E39. Disconnect battery for a decent period of time ( I left it off over night and all worked again once reconnected...) It's never played up since.... Otherwise use Jochens navcoder to see what's going on. It has an emulator to diagnose a monitor fault etc... Good luck...
  10. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=593643793 This was my old car... very dearly missed.. NZ New with a full retrofit Mk4 Nav, Tv, Hi-Fi audio, CD monitor, BM54 Tuner, Gen12 ULF bluetooth... full service history... bloody nice car in Manual...
  11. as per title, I have 2013 V19.1 release Aust/Nz Map disc (Dayton) to suit mk3&4 Navigation. E38,E39,E46,E53,E85 Pm me If you need one...
  12. remember guys RTF question. Hes looking at 2004 models, which makes them a facelift model and they have the 6 speed trans "GA6HP26Z" if you are looking at E53's, definitely get the facelift version. lots of improvements on the weaknesses of the earlier ones. E70's yeah great, but you will spend twice as much. (I'm sure if he was in that budget range, he'd be asking about e70's) the diesel engines are amazing. More Tq than the V8. obviously cheaper on fuel. Our X5d (auto) average is 8.3l/100km. - we live rural, so expect a bit more around town. great you are looking at lower mileage, if you get one service the transmission. Even BMW will say to do it. it isnt cheap, but a lot cheaper than a new transmission. (any car with "lifetime oil" for that matter) like any car, its maintenance cost will reflect on how its been treated. inspect and look for signs of abuse/neglect etc.. service history etc etc check disc wear, if they are worn and need replacing - make them adjust the price accordingly..etc etc you cant expect a 10y/o car to be perfect with no forth coming maintenance. be resourceful when getting parts. buy them from over seas and you'll pay 1/3 the price that BMW NZ will try and rip you off. (ie genuine front brake pads $340 from NZ vrs 43euro) I've had a pre facelift sportpac v8 - great fun wagon that goes like hell for a 2ton truck. but fuel consumption reflected that! - the facelift N62 engine is better, but the diesel facelift is the way to go. its the right engine for a car like the X5. google the hell out the two versions, it will become obvious on which one to go for... good luck, they are a cool car!
  13. heres the Trademe Link $300 start = reserve... Thanks
  14. Hi Ya, Ive been doing a fair bit of playing around with NCS expert & Inpa lately. its pretty cool stuff really... great for changing settings like seat belt chimes, warning lights for Led bulbs etc, retrofitting stuff, changing vehicle order etc etc etc. If anyone is in the Wairarapa / Wellington area and you want things changed up come and have a play... Dean
  15. then again the retrofit instructions are different.. see attached EBADoc11514_TV.pdf
  16. you should: connect video (blueplug) 18&9 to radio C 11&5 respectively connect nav (blueplug) 9&18 to video (white plug) 3&12 respectively try that...
  17. Hi, I need a 17' space saver wheel. Thanks
  18. Yes, I believe so. Theses units where originally an upgrade from the basic tape unit when it was bought new. Thanks
  19. removed from my X5 when I retrofitted to the BMW Navigation. Trademe link $400 start = reserve
  20. You need a Bluetooth device with A2DP profile to play Bluetooth audio. I have just installed a Bluetooth phone kit with the above profile. This enables me: Hands free phone, intergrated through the standard BMW radio. Bluetooth music, via the aux-in function of the radio. Connected to my iPhone 4S, it gives full voice control, and remote control functions... Skip track etc. Works really well. I can get into the car with phone in pocket, connects to phone and at the push of a button plays music from phone... Let me know if you want more info on the system...
  21. You can bin that gps box too. The car must "go to sleep". No activity at all, opening the door/boot etc will keep it awake.. Best to close it up and lock it... Take the whole black plastic box that the Nav drive sits in off also, it will give you better boot space!
  22. If you unplug it and turn the car on straight away the monitor will be blank. Disconnect it, throw it in the bin..... Wait unit the car goes to sleep, about 20 mins depending on car. When the system starts again it will see the car has no Nav and use the graphics in the tv tuner module.
  23. I get new genuine bmw parts from Germany off the internet. normally about 1/3 the price of BMW NZ delivered in about a week or so... eg. X5 front pads from BMW NZ $307 from below, 74euro (about $116nzd) https://eshop.original-teile.de/ it pays to think about what else you may need and get it all together and save on shipping cost.. (which can get up there on heavier items) these guys are very reliable, and I've had no problem with them.. and they use Paypal which is safe..
  24. OR, if you don't have a loom for the e53, do you have a loom & monitor for a E46? ( I have an amp already for that one) so if you can price: E46 16:9 Monitor: E53 16:9 Monitor: E53 Amp: E53 Nav loom: E46 Nav loom: Thanks Dean
