tell him to run some decent oil in it from now on, and give it a blowout once a week or so

    Blocked mufflers

it'll be a 2 stroke, I assume... as you probably know, 2 strokes run an oil mix to lubricate the engine. this oil, doesn't burn so clean, especially if he's been running a cheap "$8 a litre" lawnmower/chainsaw type sh*t. my last 2 stroke had run on this most of it's 2 years, and was worse for wear for it. not only does it not do it;s required lubrication job so well, compared with decent stuff, but it also barely burns, especially if it's only run short distance. i doubt there'd be buigger all heat generated in the expansion chamber/muffler, to burn of the deposits. My latest had a fair bit of crap in th muffler, expansion chambr was fine, due entirely to crap oil being used. after running castrol tts ($25 a litre, but well worth it) it cleared a little, the rest i brnt out with a coldish flame on an oxy/acetelene torch. his may b too far gone/a bit too fragile to do this with though.... degreaser wont shift much as alot of it is half burnt, hard deposits.... second hand exhaust would be a cheaper option what brand/model is the moped?

  8. manawatu panelbeaters, and it's a green mini there's heaps of mint panelbeaters in town, but yuh, these guys would have to be one of the best I'm told. Used to deal alot with the owner's brother, and saw some of his handywork. very awesome. plus they do alot of insurance work. James & Kingsbeer on fairs road i hear are good Hope you get it sorted ASAP Doesn't look to bad at all, looks all behind the rear wheels, as to where the damage is. Was a low speeder?
  9. stink man. I always come railway road into feilding, when not driving home form work (work on railway road) because of that intersection. so many people get pwnt there.... then again people pull straight out of there in fornt of those coming from bunnythorpe anywho... hope you can get it sorted! if you dig the car, which you obviously do, and it's mint as, then refuse to let it be written off. wasn't your fault, so someone else's insurance company cannot write it off unless you let them, by law. don't bow down to the man! you'll get a result
  10. even now, with only a couple of speeding tickets from years ago, and with amoi for over 6 years, my lowest possible excess, without spending SHITLOADS on premiums, is $1000, for ANY type of claim.... I think females get off lightly.. it's been stated to me a few times that if I was female I'd get off alot more lightly, esp with the vehicles I often own. FWIW, AMI, full cover, 1995 L300 = $700 per annum. with 60% no claims, fully licenced for over 4 years. 205GTi 3rd party fire & theft, w/ glass cover $250 per annum 1972 Crown, full cover $600ish I get burnt
  11. 3rd party fire and theft through AMI = always been the cheapest, and best option for me. Building insurance history is always the go too....
  12. sh*t that's some big bucks

    Jungle Part 4

Was in a mega hurry when I picked my car up so didn't take any notice whether I had the wof checksheet or not, so may have to pick it up tomorrow. Nothing was said bout the lack of rear seats. Will have to find out whether or not it was noted on the checksheet tomorrow...

    Jungle Part 4

"All you need is a class change, don't get cert for seat removal." I've done the same, and went to VTNZ yesterday as I figured the class change was on the rego side of things. There they told me that it's just changed on the wof. No. of seats: 2. Talking to a few other people, general consensus is that most wof testing officers will want to see the seatbelt mounting holes covered. (I've chucked blanking grommets over them) And that it's simple to go to 2 seat, difficult to go back to 4/5. I guess that's something to do with the whole 'cannot use secondhand seatbelts' thing. I wouldn't imagine there's any issue of re-certing required for the original seatbelt mounts but you never know. I guess if you want to sell it at any point as a standard car with 4 seats, or would want to revert back to 4 seats, then chuck them back in, otherwise just present it. fitting the seats then removing them after the wof *could* cause you problems down the road if you get some anal cop going over you with a fine tooth comb just because they can.... I'm hopefully, pending if I get sufficient time for a decent lunch break, going for a wof today, will no doubt see what happens in a few hours
  21. I wish I was the age i am now, back then. woulda been awesome. haven't still got the bonnie do you?

    Squeeky Brakes

depends what the squeak is. the anti rattle shim's wear indicator may be rubbing on the disc, which means you need new pads or some sh*t. go back and see what he wants done
  23. f**k that sounds dodgey..... my one of these turned up today. damn well made if I do say so myself. will post pics when I get round to fitting it up
  24. non-dogleg style "South African-spec model retained the more common overdrive Getrag transmission with the following ratios: 3.82 (1), 2.20 (2), 1.40 (3), 1.00 (4), .81 (5)"
