  1. +1 I really have to laugh at some BMW enthusiasts. It’s a 20+ year old car relatively cheap practical classic, its not a $150,000 near new car and it’s not a rare Porsche or Ferrari or something collectable like a E30 M3. Nice car but its confused as to what it wants to be and I couldn’t live with a dashboard that, to put it nicely, “retroâ€. Personally if I was going for a classic cruiser it would have a diamond on the bonnet. I would be looking at a 500SL. This one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-330882177.htm
  2. Firstly, buy some wash and wax at the bare minimum for your paint work, that way you will have some form of protectant on the paint, dishwashing liquid is great at removing dirt but it’s also great at removing wax and it’s harsh on rubbers and other trim. If you want to step things up buy a proper microfiber drying towel and some spray wax. The grime you talk of on your wheels won’t come off with products, it’s baked on and is a result of poor previous maintenance. Most wheel cleaners are a waste of time, they make removing light dirt and dust easy but can’t perform miracles. I have some industrial stuff that works a treat but it will also remove your skin and is toxic to inhale, for that reason it’s not sold at Supercheap, it won’t remove years of stain though. I would first try a metal polish of some sort and some elbow grease, this is normally useless but worth a try. Next attempt would be wet sand, wheels off, wet 800grit, wet 1000grit and then wet 1200 grit followed up with a hand metal polish on the whole wheel, it will remove the clear coat so you may want to give them a quick spray over with a clear afterwards. From there its proper Maintenance every week, if washed properly every week they will never stain up again.

    Disgruntled BMW owner

Should have brought a French car.
  4. Happy Birthday Glenn, have a great day.
  5. Welcome Cody. Replacing that front bumper would be a great idea indeed. Look out for an OEM bumper and what you will be wanting is something called “IS “lower lip of a E30 318is, colour code it and it will tie in nicely with the rest of the cars look.

    CALLING F1 FANS

I said Alonso would win before the season, even have a cheeky fiver on it, but you know what, I still don’t want him to win! Go Webber. Also. Congratulations Red Bull Renault.

    Antiform off season

Nicely done. Just like being there.
  13. Seems like a reasonable price to me. Magwarehouse.com are a good company to deal with, if you really want them go in and talk turkey with Nathan, he is a good sort and wont rip you off. Just quietly, he had a set of style 5's last time I called in.
  14. Beautiful mate, just in time for summer. Enjoy.

    Gran Turismo 5

Looking at wheel and pedal combo’s but I would rather spend the money on my real car. Just in time for Christmas would be all good for me, I haven’t played my PS3 since last Christmas anyway, a solid week should have the foundations in place.

  17. It really is hard to get decent data tested in NZ on NZ roads with NZ specification tyres. Would love to see a mega test with tyres as Wheels Magazine does, take say 10 of the common performance tyres on ten sets of wheels and fit them to a control car, say a 330i and let the data do the talking, take into account cost, wear, noise ride and performance.
  18. Welcome to 2004, where have you been? Best motoring is as good as Performance Car Magazine to Jap Fan boys.

    Clio V6.

Its a Renault, Iteriors are not a strong point... not many corolla's have a V6 where the back seat normally is though Needs a couple of race seats.

    new years...

Not sure, just fishing for advice and looking on wat-if for deals, can’t wait… just gotta convince the wife to be that I need to take the PS3 and GT5 in case it rains.
  23. Get T1R’s or Sport Max if you can, anything more expensive is just that. At this level they are all much of a muchness, to give you an idea I ran 3000km last week with cars running anything and everything and it was much of a muchness at the pointy end of the pack, the three cars at the front had Sport Max though. I personally like Dunlop Sport Max the best.
