oh ok, thanks for that, but will it make a huge difference having 195/60/r15 on the front and 205/55r15 on the back? because the front tires have HEAPS of tread left, and the rears are near bald... So i really only want to buy new backs
-
Im just wondering if having 195/60/r15 on the front and 195/55/r15 on the back will cause any problems with handling etc? Can anyone recommend any semi decent tires to get, preferable 195/60/r15 seeing as thats whats on there at the moment, probably wont pass the wof. The ones on at the moment are Eagle NCT3s. Im probably looking at whatevers the best for around 100 dollars per tire. Thanks

haha, if I believed the website id probably have magnets stuck to my fuel tank, magnets stuck around my fuel lines, non powered fans stuck on my intake, and all sorts of other crap lol With all the fuel saving deviced combined, Id surely get about 100km per litre!
-
I think somebody should try this anyway, maybe on a munted old corolla or something haha

Thought Id post up some pictures I took today, I took about 60 and these are the best ones, even though theres only one I really like...but hey, what you gonna do? So far what Ive done to the car is: Shadowlined the trim round the windows and the bumpstrips on the doors Repainted the grille All red taillights (Alex/Quicksilver did them for me) Smoked indicators (ok ok, theyre completely black, im working on that) Stereo upgraded (Panasonic amp, Infinity Sub, Sony headunit, came with decent alpine speakers allround) Lowered unknown amount (Second hand springs, rumored to be H&R, but part numbers dont show up anything for any brand, but they feel pretty good. Once again, thanks for the help alex) 5000m Pager alarm (took me several hours to install, will never do it again) The final pic is "being artsy to cover the fact the shot wasnt straight, just incase anyone is wondering haha...Ive always had a problem shooting straight with compact digital cameras.

are the distributors in different places? ive seen photos of m20b25s and the distributor is in a different place to mine, mine is stuck on the end of the block right next to the fan...
-
Are there any differences between facelift and prefacelift m20b25 engines? Thanks
-
yeahp, Im still trying to decide whether or not to colour code my chrome bumpers to the rest of the body or not... I guess half the body needs re colour coding to itself haha.. But yeah, thanks for the great day guys, I think something with my ignition system has gotten a lot worse on the motorway home though, it doesnt particularly like to accelerate as much as it did, on acceleration theres quite a shake from the engine, hope it isnt anything serious, Ill have a look at the plugs and dizzy later on today. All in all a great drive, definately fun to see other drivers faces while theres a line of 26 bmws going past them haha

Ah damn, good point about the car thinking theyre blown, Id say youre right, but ill give it a go anyway... Yeah Im fine with the LEDs not distributing light evenly, stock the indicators have a bright spot where the bulb is anyway, im just wanting something bright enough to flash a bit better through the smoked housings. Thanks for the help
-
Can anyone ahem...shed some "light" on what bulb type the indicators are? mainly the side ones, I cant find out what they are. I need to get some super bright replacement ones, the paint ive gotten for tinting the indicators makes them pitch black and its kind of hard to see the light, and I like how dark they are, so Im thinking brighter bulbs are the way to go... Reckon these little buggers will fit? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-150997777.htm

I think with certain m20b25s youve gotta get the right box, if they have a crankshaft position sensor mounted on the flywheel? Thats my limited knowledge view of it, I think that when I get around to converting I have to get a gearbox with the right place for a sensor of some type to mount? I could be completely off though...
-
Alright, I did that today, it took quite a few good HARD hits, I dont have a BFH, only a small hammer for hitting nails etc, not ripping out suspension components that have probably been seated where they are for at least a decade...lol

Alright, got all the struts off and stuff today with advice found on here, ie. jacking up the bottoms of the ball joints to lock 'em. I dont think the actual ball joints will need replacing, probably just the boots. Im guessing that boots are relatively universal and just able to get generic ones? For now I think just new boots will have to suffice until I have money to get another pair of arms That sounds like a good price graeme, seeing as repco told me their control arms are 200 each.
-
the big ones that bolt to the chassis at the back of the control arm EDIT: oops someone already said that Where can you get just the balljoints? both repco and supercheap apparently dont supply them, and Ive heard BMW dont sell the balljoints seperately from the arms either
-
Ah, thats cool, thanks for that. And if I go with replacing the entire control arm, are you able to get the old bushings back on or is it new bushing time too?
-
jeez, by the looks of the price of things, my cars gonna be off the road for a couple weeks... And I cant work out how youre supposed to be able to tighten them up properly, wont the ball joint just spin with the nut while youre tightening it?
-
Could anyone give me an idea of what it would cost to replace the outer balljoints on the control arms? the ones that attach to the strut? The self locking nuts had been loctited, so the entire balljoint would just rotate. Heat wouldnt make the loctite let go, so the nut had to be ground off, but the balljoint is pretty much stuffed and theres a lot of play in the wheel because its impossible to tighten it back properly. I havent checked but id say that the other side is the same, so could anyone give me an idea of what it should cost to get these replaced, Ill just have to take it to the mechanic at the top of the street seeing as its probably unsafe to drive it round like it now. Thanks.

Neither of my jets worked at all when I got my e30, so I left it for a month or so, then got just a little T joiner from repco or supercheap, just one for vacuum line. Then I tried putting it in, and seeing as the top of the T wasnt as wide as the OEM one the pipes were about 1 inch too short, so I had to go buy some tubing as well, It was around half the price of a new one, but it wont stop siphoning back. How bad is siphoning back?

Hey, I recently installed an alarm into the 325, at first I tried arming/disarming and the locks wouldnt work at all, I thought "oh no ive stuffed the locks" But then I put the key in the boot (only lock cylinder that works) and locked/unlocked it a few times, then tried the alarm again, and it worked. Ive not ever put the key in the lock again now. So, It could be something to do with the initial position of the locks, you might have to play around a bit to try get it working as it should. Hope that helps, but youve said that it just happens randomly sometimes, so Im not sure sorry...

haha ive been watching that one for about 3 weeks now, no one buys them. I keep asking for photos, but none. How hard is it to get a photo up aye.
