Oh bugger That's a bit stink, Craig. I think I better check my IE bits when I have time. You've made me nervous!
-
Unfortunately, I'm 99% sure that when camber is adjusted with strut tops - the whole strut moves. The relationship between tyre and strut does not change Might pay to check though.

I kinda like the balloons on the rear. Look like drag slicks if you squint Noob Q: Are they the same size as the old wheels?
-
Pimpin' But needs Tech1 (Tech1 and Chrome make the orange alllll good). Quick Q: How much space is there to the caliper with the Borbets on?
-
Hmmm, Terratrip looks good. But I need to sort rust/painting and fix the car first. Hopefully there's still budget for intercom after that.
-
Lol, almost sounds like you enjoyed it more than I did! (P.S. thanks again for being responsible for fixering my car when it popped a caliper) Cheers for that! I've never seen any photo/video of my car in action!I think you're a lot smoother/braver thru the chicanes and pits for sure! Yeah, I should stop being a pansy and start going further than Waiuku for a driving fix Yeah, was a lot of twirling arms. Slipped once or twice, thankfully without mishaps! I'm not sure I qualify for "great work" finished last in my class lol! Up against an M Coupe, RX7, 180SX, and a RX323.....I may/may not have been somewhat outclassed Was good to meet you too! (I should've clicked when you said the 318iS was yours!) Bummer about the corolla...it was in my class too! What motor was it running? Would be keen to see the footage (well, any footage of my car)

Pretty sure it's easy to make it fit It's only a four after all. But making it fit well is problematic. Money and work needed to make it fit as well as this: Either way, off topic. OP wants to keep it BMW.

Sounds good, I'm aiming to do two events per month. Next one for me will hopefully be sealed autocross on 26th this month. Then the multi-car circuit sprint on 2nd August. Sainsbury is a maybe, kinda far away...will hopefully be doing Kemp Rd on 18th October though?

Hmm, what do people use to hold harnesses on the harness bar in place? Zipties look like they'd do the job, but not sure they're the greatest way of doing it? Running a 23.4mm BMC. Brakes were a lot better than standard, more confidence inspiring. I need to learn how to use them better, brake harder, and less. Now I think about it, I wasn't using all of the pedal when I should've.

Riiiiiiighto, back from RallySprint. Was not what I was expecting. 8km rallysprint around Pukekohe - standiing start, chicane pre and après kink, throught pitlane fast as possible, into pitlane chicane and out of pitlane into sweeper (rinse and repeat) then ending right after the chicane at the top of the hill. Madness. Had many dramas with brakes, learnt a bit about how to drive the bits of Puke. Great fun. Huge thanks to CamB who was my passenger ballast and pit crew. Also thanks to 2002 for the support (and hopefully some chase cam footage). Right front brake caliper bolt came undone and ended up "machining" the rotor a bit. But turns out both were rubbing, have suspicions that only when hot. The track was somewhat hard on brakes, bendix ultimates are smoking away when back in the pits. Have more to add to to-do list: Sort brakes Brake ducting Secure new tacho better Harness holds Padding on x-bars Mayyyyybe a smidgen more camber Can't wait to go racing again (hopefully with the bugs ironed out). Pics to come. There were a few photographers dotted around the place.

I spent most of today putting the car into attack mode. Serviced and all manner of bits and bobs tidied up for track attack Crappy pic before bed: I lost 'cos I thought I placed an autobid but didn't My current favourites are these

Two Sets of Wheels, Alignment Question
JiB replied to Forrest's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
I did my alignment on the wheel/tyre combo that I'm going to use most. R888's seem to work best on 7" or 7.5". I've noticed a decent difference in response/predictability when swapping between the various rims I have. The 6.5" BBS RS's were probably the worst, so far SSR Type C's in 15x7 have been the best. They are a rather wide 7" wheel. I'm also running 205/50R16 street on a 16x8 rim. The rubber sits a bit stretched, but the bead doesn't appear to be under strain at all and have had no problems what so ever..there is reduced grip compared to my 16x7's with the same tyre. I would go for a 225/45R16 if possible though. My 2c. -
Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but are the M3 guards significantly heavier than the narrowbody e30 front guards? The narrowbody guard weigh bugger all? Would've expected //M guards to be betterer.
-
Lol, cheers mate. I also especially like the duct tape (much to the dismay of many). Well your wheels bonnet and rubber should match soon no? Woooo! Rice tacho, hope it gives me an extra 10hp, I'm gonna need it.

Update: Car is 100% legal with Auth Card, Cert, Wof and Reg. So much money in paperwork Anyways, no pics coz I'm too busy driving it. Isolating all manner worrying sounds (without much success). Slowly getting all prepped for the Rally Sprint this weekend. Still need to: Clean it (currently, water beads off the car because of the layer of dust on it) Paint front bits of cage I forgot about Deal with rust Paint bald spots Sort out temporamental boot lock Clean up interior Attach sump guard Sort door handles Fix exhaust leaks Service it Bleed brakes again Still want to: Shift light (my tacho gave up) Put the rest of my tech1 kit on Decide which of my rear wings I want to use (so far techII lower is winning) Clutch Stop Footrest Passenger footrest Pockets/glovebox Increase coolness to DRTDVL levels

I use the SuperCheap one. All (4) of mine still say full pressure?
-
Wow, that stuff's expensive! $80 for a litre...looks like I will have to deal with rust soon edit: I think a super starter kit might be the go for now, about $50 inc shipping.

When those Borbets are on the car it better be sacked on GC's

I lol'd quite hard when I read that. I have a Sri Lankan friend, his mum drove a SRT8, and his father's S401 before that. Another Indian friend's mum drives a E39 540i...Those indian mothers...they like their pimp automobiles
-
I like the Grey Lynn one.
-
F20c is unfortunately tall. Would probably have same sump problem as m20's. Not to mention exhaust is in the way of steering just like an M20. I'd still rock one. Hopefully soon (not in an E30). P.S. Those DC2 Integra/Civic Type R seats are the same SR2's that come in M3 Sport Evos...
-
+1 Many many many offsets and widths available in this stud pattern.
-
IIRC, 9/10deg. Right/Left are uneven atm. Probably same as you? My wheels are much closer to the front of the car with this castor lol, minimal clearance to front plastic guard. Those wheels posted would increase your front track by 54mm, I should have a look at scrub radius effects when I have time. I'm not sure the benefits of a wider track are so clear cut as it could amplify scrub effects (in theory). Note: I run a wider track because it looks pimp (and I have no choice b/c of my brakes). So I can't exactly champion benefits of wider track
-
But with what rubber and what camber/castor? If Henry wants to do targa type events, perhaps it would be wise to cater for maximum suspension travel and not so much camber? My castor pushes the wheel forward a fair bit, this might pose issues with wider rubber/wheel. It's an unfortunate Looks vs Performance dilemma. Cos I'd rock 16x8/9 setup for street fo' sho.

Quickeners aren't legal, can't be certified. People who have them just hide them really well. 10p on 8" is going to be a bit of a hassle in front. Would no doubt look good, but you may have to sacrifice tyre width to fit them... My 8"s at 18p rub with 225's in front. But would be fine with 205's and rolling. This is with 2.5 ish deg camber and max castor.
