  1. Unfortunately, all the options for bling wheels are expensive unless you're lucky I went for hub adaptors myself, which I thought was the most cost effective - especially when a set of BBS RS's in the right fitment is close to $1000! An extra plus with adaptors is increased X factor to clear pokey outey brakes.

Nup. Broken M20 = Boosted Nissan motor On a more sensible note, I should probably get a sump guard if I get more serious about hillclimbs.
  3. Looks like an M50 is your only plausible option for monster power if fufilling BMW + straight 6 requirements. Sorry for OT, Buuuut: You get a Not Achieved for comprehension. I think you will find I said FJ20ET not EJ20ET. FJ's an iron block beast from Nissan. Google tells me 250-300whp on stock internals is reliable. Clicky Really? I'm not a Mitsi boy, but I was under the impression 4G63's were thrashable. Have a few friends running 1 bar boost on standard block Evos 4-7 Most of them for more than a year now with the odd track day. Tuned by ST-Hitec. 300hp at all four wheels. Guys in US have 350+ unopened motors and 500+ with stock bottom end.
  4. I'll add to the bickering about Japanese 8's. What about VH41DE? Best of the Nissan 8's, properly Quad cam, better flowing heads, blah blah. Easily stroked with VH45 crank Down side is bigger physical size due to big heads. LeMans motor is based off this motor, may even use the same block IIRC. I'm surprised CamB hasn't mentioned FJ20ET, indestructable motor similar to 4G63's. Designed to take massive boost with little work. Better flowing DOHC head than SR's, Solid head design, basically a detuned race motor. And you get the benefit of elegance and weight distribution of a 4cyl in an E30. Personally, I the only reason I would use a BMW block would be because I wanted to race in the series. Or if the car was LHD. Just too much $$$ needed and too much restriction with exhuast/turbo space.
  5. That argument is kinda invalid...it's like saying: "if the e46 is the successor then surely it is a better car." Common non sequitur. Also i'm pretty sure the aids in the e46 can be silenced Don't get me wrong! I think the e30m3 is one of the choicest cars, but i'd rather have an e46 and a modified e30 for the same coin as e30m3..i guess my priorities would be most driving enjoyment per $.

The silver/polished ones? Yeah, I'll get round to more photos, but like EVERYTHING on the car they need a damn good clean. Little bit of tucking for hardparking would be nice. Despite being a hardout ricer, I'll be keeping it 4x4 95% of the time - would rather sacrifice baller status for the ability to thrash the car without leaving my sump behind. Yes! I will need all the help I can get with stripping. Want to be ~1100kg with cage and liquids
  8. I voted E46. E30M3 is not enough car for the money, especially when their dynamics can be replicated for less. Pretty difficult to replicate E46 tech for $40,000, not to mention they'd be just as special to drive imho. I wouldn't pay more than $30k for an E30 M3. Would much rather an S30 for appreciating classic duties, especially when 190E 16V's can be had for $10k-$15k range. *Dons flame suit*
  9. Man, that interior sucks for a car of its ilk. Would still rock it though, needs EvoIII lip/diffuser and some LM's. Then you'd have to get big brakes to fill the LM's, then you'd have to get a tickled 2.5 S14 to backup the big brakes. Then you'd have to sort the suspension....then you'd probably be short an arm, a leg and a kidney. Anyone got spare $100,000?

    Daily Driver

Our E46 328 is very nice as a daily. But expensive. Options like auto seats/climate control/rear mirror dim just make everything that much nicer. Good sound system with 16 speakers, blah blah. Terrible boot, neither big nor well shaped. Very safe with 10 air bags and weighing in at 1000000000000kg. Altezza's handle better, nice to drive if you can get over the finicky gauges. RS200 is kinda torqueless, have to ring it out, but made up for with a nice 6 speed. Feels like a (marginally) lighter E46. Great after market support, huge range of wheels. Clutch/flywheels are HIDEOUSLY expensive. LSD standard P11 primeras are horrible to drive, they're tediously boring and make driving a chore. They don't do anything particularly well. If you HAVE to get one, get a wagon, they've good space and ride a bit better. Haven't driven the others enough to comment.
  11. Mean Maori Mean! Take me out for a skid au! Hey! They're not el cheapo's they're Bridgestone something or rathers. Will turn into smoke very nicely thank you very much
  12. You'd probably get a decent amount on Trademe thanks to all the drift fan boys. Otherwise I'll give ya $1,000 for it
  13. Tucked diving boards at least

    Toyo Tires

650lb rear springs, LSD, old bushes in the rear, no weight in the rear, stretched rear tyres and a hoon at the wheel. ....just a tad subjective I'm also interested to see the comparison of DZ101 and T1R on an E30. What's the verdict? (Assuming the tyres have run in now.)
  15. Mine are pretty much identical to Hybrid's. But with a smaller straight race spring. If you want the rear lower, maybe go for some softer/longer springs so they'll be captive. Otherwise you'll have to look for keeper springs which are expensive in the not-so-common 57mm ID
  16. That's choice. I have a soft spot for 330's. Very nice.

Nah not planning on running it low at all, only want it low for aesthetic reasons....which are the wrong reasons for the purposes of this car. Will be quite high for hillclimb/track duties. Interior is stripped. Fibre glass seats. Aircon coming out when cage goes in. Sound deadening will be dealt with when I can be bothered. Part of me wants to keep sun roof cos I like it. But it should go...15kg worth of stuff in the wrong place.

BTW, Znoelli's and EBC's will be up for sale once new brakes are in. They're basically new, done ~4000km with them. Including calipers Yeah man, keen. Jspec/Gspec Touge run Nah, I'll still be a big wuss haha. Will go from ricer => ricer with big brakes Aethetically, it needs to be a bit lower than pictures Might be a dick and lower it for pictures when I'm bored in the holidays Hardparker style! Shush Cam, I wanted to be all baller with low offset wheels But yeah, they're all hubcentric and legit, gave up looking for suitable wheels, especially wheels with big enough x factor for brakes! Expensive exercise though, needed short studs installed + spacers + cert. Plus side is selection of available wheels is a little larger...but not as much as I expected.. Woo! E props! Thanks, most of the suspension bits are supreme overkill for a road car though. But I highly recommend getting as much castor as possible.

I reckon it needs a TechII rear wing to finish it off. Must be nuts to drive!

30th Oct '08: I decided posting old cellphone pics for e-props on the internet is more amusing than studying metaphysics. Sorry for the shitty cellphone pics. Toyo Tires

I switched to T1R's when they first came out. They were like jelly Great traction off the mark though. Promptly went back to DZ101's. This was with a 215/45/17 and a stiff chassis FWD. It may be different in 205/55/15 and a E30. Have some Proxes4 in 205/50/16 atm, they seem pretty good, not exactly grippy - but no noticeable marshmallow effect (less than R888s).

What 2L racing motor? He can't mean the Italian destroked S14? But he says M42? I thought 318is's were 1.8L?
  23. Wow, choice car mate. I have a question though, what are the specs on the brake rotors? Just wondering what the dimensions of them are ie bell height, thickness, OD? I'm guessing 16" wheels are necessary to fit over the whole package?
  24. I am very close to tripling my original budget
