  1. What's wrong with this picture, so much fail here... If this a member on here... you should know better!
  2. Whoa, hold your horses you parts picking vultures! Dan has forgotten he's going to offer me the whole car for restoration first !!
  3. Ooh, this schizz is gonna get real.. I predict much hilarity and embarrassed council workers!
  4. Pretty sure Driftit snapped up the whole car.
  5. Unless the private property owners give permission? My Mrs Tyler was nabbed at Botany shopping centre and I had to sort out the rego on-line while she was on the phone to me. Not sure if that is council or private??
  6. Look up definition of a road for NZ, it includes car parks. So the council can issue wof and rego notices as you are on a "road" but not parking fines. Very fine hairs to split, but that's what lawyers do.
  7. What sort of time frame are you looking at? How soon do you want to buy. Oh, and rough budget?
  8. Yes, and yes. The colour has been re-formulated, so it has been deliberately changed to be a "new" colour by altering the mix of tints in the paint. I guess the original colour names are used as a reference to where the colour originated from and that the new colour is very similar? This is very different to the variations that you can get across the same colour through the painting process, often referred to as "variants" in the OEM world. Even the most accurate paint mixing machine and tester in the world cannot differentiate colour as well as the human eye can - and unfortunately things can change enough from one batch of paint to the next. When I was supplying painted assemblies for HiLuxes out of Thailand most colours had three variants "active" at any one time, and at one point there were five variants of the black. What a nightmare to try and mix-and-match!!
  9. VW Amarok? Ok as a truck, I hear Great Wall are good value for money as well if you looking in that market segment. They probably have a manuel version as well. One cheap pre-pro that goes on TradeMe for a week (not sells in a week) isn't scientific proof of anything.
  10. Says Jamez who has done exactly how many races in the BMW series this season..? Ahem! The chances of finding someone who is prepared to let you thrash the pants off their supercar for a few hundred bucks is pretty unlikely really. Track-day experiences vary widely, I have done days at Manfield where there were less than a dozen cars and done more laps than I could count in complete freedom. Then there are the "open to all f@3ktards with a Jappa" sessions at Pukekohe - pure comedy gold. I am hoping to get a track day in at Hampton at some point once I have the E30 going again so if you could organise a good one Jamez that would be great - cheers!!
  11. Have you got the rear ash-tray lifty outty thingy? Mine got lifted.
  12. Some nice options on the TradeMe one, Prof. Nav, Sun-roof, Comfort Access, Soft Close, Rear Camera - not cheap options and certainly not on the early e70s. As 3pedals says, that can make a big difference to the value of the car. Turners are usually pretty useless on the spec of cars they sell so would have to go look and work it out in person.
  13. Conversation between the instructor and mate went like this: Instructor: Would you drive your car like this? Mate: Yes, I do, often. Instructor: Is your car worth $250k Mate: Er, no. Instructor: Then don't do it in this. I think he still enjoyed it though. Definitely not a "track day" or a "hot lap" experience, I guess it has to be controlled to a certain extent to stop some clueless goon putting it in the wall each week.
  14. There was a link to the web-page as well. Probably too late now, places filled.
  15. Good to see that the description of a BMW owned "show vehicle" has now been changed to "pre-production vehicle"! Definitely needs bigger wheels though!!
  16. Nah 17" alpina reps don't look good on a 'vert ;-)
  17. I ordered mine from a company in Essex, England called PMW Lts- I found an article in a UK BMW mag and these guys were one of the first and did a lot of the research and development making the parts. Link to their info here: http://pmwltd.co.uk/pages/blanking-pates They were selling them on eBay and as they are small the postage was pretty cheap. Biggest pain was having to take the inlet manifold off to find out what size I had before ordering them, putting it back on while the parts were coming and then taking it off again to fit them. I think there is a way you can tell now without having to do that!
  18. Sheee-it FRT was that Neil's truck? He will be mighty pissed. Dan, let me know when you are doing the flaps - I did mine on the 330d a while back.
  19. Have fun in 'Straya Geoff - that is a whole new thread! Don't forget to take you're thongs.
  20. The question is though Geoff, does a bear engine sh!t in the woods? Could be the same guy selling a Manuel gearbox - must be Spanish!
  21. Which model has a getrag 240 in it, was it the 320i? I have got two spare starters one out of a 320 the other from a 325, so one of them should fit.
  22. I can understand a 356 replica using a Beetle as a base, similar drivetrain and mechanicals plus scarcity of the real thing. Can even be different and do a 550(?) like James Dean had. But as Dan said - v6 Fwd Ferrari?? Erm, no. And what is going to go under that big rear window that shows off the engine in the real thing? And as for putting "genuine" Lamborghini badges on that LS1 LOLOLOLPMSLLMFAOROFL!!
  23. Need a driveshaft for my E30 race car, S14 with Getrag 265/5 and 4.1 small case diff (pretty sure the diff end is always the same - but could be wrong). Front section to centre hanger needs to be about 630mm, rear section, about 840mm from hanger to flange.
