  1. Pay more ACC content in the fee. You are obviously more likely to have an accident in a diesel than a petrol...?!?
  2. Unfortunately the RUC system ISN'T simple - ok, it is for cars and light vehicles, but when you get into HTs it's a whole different ball game. So much so that the CVIU, NZTA and police between them don't know what they are doing in many situations. There are so many possible axle and tyre configurations possible under the mass and dimension rules that there aren't enough RUC classes to cover them all (and I think this was the unwritten part of the reasoning behind the recent changes). I ended up in a courtroom on behalf of a customer when the government tried to claim an ADDITIONAL $1m+ for RUC as they were arguing the classification of the trailers was incorrect. When it was pointed out that the classification used was ratified by the LTSA before being used the case was suddenly dropped, but only after we had all gone to court over it. Adding more complexity the system might not be the best for the consumer... but still worth giving it a go.
  3. Seen this out east a few times, finally managed to snap a pic... SNAKE TRUCK!!
  4. Was pleased when Scotty won at Puke last year, and was a bit worried for him when they went over to Volvo. Good to see they have hit the ground running, unlike the Mercs and Nissans last year. Hope he pushes on this year - definitely has the talent, and so good to see someone so obviously enjoying winning (or even coming second!!) rather than just putting out the usual boring interviews.
  5. I get my RUC paid for me, but have to pay for the fuel at the pump - so from a totally selfish point of view, no keep it as it is!! From what I remember from my time in HT, the whole point of the RUC system is to allow for people that use diesel power but not on the roads (tough sh!t for all those petrol users - boats, bikes, jet-skis, ride-on mowers, etc). It then gets a bit murky for things like log-trucks that spend a lot of time off-highway, but also spend time on the road - things like eRoad and GPS tracking have been brought in to count that and claim the money back. So in terms of people like my old man running around in his 116d it is a little bit odd to be paying RUC and also weird that he pays it at the same rate as I do for the mighty 330d. Get rid of the RUC and move the tax to the pump, off road users can claim back (as most do already anyways) and introduce a graded license payment, or Rego as most people call it, based on emissions - don't forget diesel license fee is also more than a petrol for some obscure reason! Over to you - go Dan. If you want a hook up in the MIA let me know, there has been a lot of discussion around this in the industry already as it is hampering new diesel sales in private vehicles.
  6. Yeah, I remember this being up for sale last time, purely because of the weird 325i badges on the skirts. Could be worse though, it could have caught the "M-Badge disease" like so many other cars on TradeMe.
  7. I hope you told them all to stuff off as I have first dibs on it, right mate?? ;-)
  8. Don't know if AA have the equipment to read the fault codes from the ECU even.. The most important piece of info you could have from a modern car like an E90 Any BMW specialist will be able to do that easily as part of the inspection.
  9. I think the styling was by the same looney-tune that did the Fuego, but the concept and the model was based on the old-school Alpine 110 which was a gorgeous car..
  10. Race Series Meeting at Pukekohe this week-end, practice sessions today. So there will be quite a few BMWs on trailers over the next few days (and hopefully all in a good way).
  11. Very nice cars.... when they work right. Availability of spares for that would give me nightmares!! The one in the photos above is the turbo with the wide body, shame the one in the add is NA and not widebody, but then it wouldn't be 18k. But really, carbs in 1990?? Come on.
  12. CR1 tends to have the most options fitted...
  13. Ex-Government car as he says in the advert. Some of which are pretty poverty spec depending on who gets driven around it them. This could be one of those, hence the reason for no sale?
  14. A bit of a long shot, but..... does anyone have any bits of an E30 M3 exhaust system sitting around that they don't need or want. Doesn't matter how rusty or ropey, anything considered, centre section, muffler, factory or aftermarket.
  15. Are they genuine wheels? If so check the Schnizzle web-site.. http://www.ac-schnitzer.de/ If you can find them on there, and they are still available, get the part number and take it to your local BMW Parts Department and they can get them for you.
  16. Use a good quality Gear Oil, from a named brand, EP80 I think is the grade and you will be sweet. The principle is you keep pumping it into the filler hole until it comes back out at you - that tells you it's filled to the right level!!
  17. That guy does bring in some very nice cars. I'm not a fan of Porkers so I would prefer the nice Escort Cosworth for much less money..
  18. Before you buy the 320i take a 320d for a test drive, especially if you are interested in the fuel economy!
  19. I think all that fiddling with your stick is starting to affect your eyesight, again you are incorrect. Cut from the BMW US web-site.. So infact the US version is an auto as standard, and not only that the cheeky buggers don't give a rebate if you select the manual like we do here in NZ - even more of a discouragement from buying a manual. Twisting the facts to say it's included. I have no problem with people having a preference for either one, manual or auto, and would normally keep out of the argument, but when things are put forward as facts to back their argument that are wrong I tend to bite. I can't even be bothered getting into the sports suspension argument been done too many times before. Love, peace and harmony
  20. Thought it looked like Carbon Black (the M-Sport only colour) which does have a blue/green pearl in it in sunlight which I really like. Checked it on the VIN decoder and yes it is CarbonSchwarz. I would certainly rock that car, very nice!! 21. Errr, I think you find there is pricing for manual gearbox in there for ALL models that are available in manual. I just pulled this off the web-site Option Pricing / Spec list for the 3-series.. It is in there if you look. If a customer wants a manual, and the car is actually built with a manual then it is available. As for waiting, 99% of customers that want to "build" their own car to exactly what they want (as most new car buyers do) have to wait anyways due to the huge number of options making it most unlikely that the EXACT car is already in the pipe-line. Each to their own, maintain your belief system and bang that drum. Peace out.
  22. That model description suggests your car is an import to me and not NZ new?VTNZ can't change the description, but some twat at BMW could, if you asked them nicely.
  23. Best hold on to your old manual boxes - there won't be any new ones being made in the very near future!
