yep, I have the blinder laser jammers on my 335i (as well as the Bel STi-R). I have a switch under the dash which turns them off once I have come down to speed. Then the piggy-wiggy can get a lock on me... I've used it quite a few times heading into Auckland near the Barrys point rd offramp heading south. Piggy-wiggy sits there quite a bit with his little power gun...

+1 I've got a Beltronics STi-R hardwired into my 335i - it has saved me big $$ - and you can't see it.

A few things that are listed above are addressed with the free 3.0 software update coming in a few days....MMS/PXT, Forwarding text and much more....I've been running it for a number of months...its where it needs to be. Custom ringtones are REALLY easy to do - just use Garageband on the Mac. Video recording will be interesting! There are apps around which do it - but not very easy to install. Pen drive? Just get a free one off a supplier at work....hehehe. They are a give away these days! I have a business which develops for the iPhone - and its an awesome device. The phone side will get better and better (just as it did from 1.0 onwards) The whole idea of the phone getting better and better through free software updates is brilliant - you will see most phone have or will head this way...

I support some basic environmental practices - but with all the science I have read, we now have a massive over-reaction which is going to end up causing more problems than any issues we have. Ask NIWA why they haven't published their global warming stats for the last 6 years? Because it is going back the other way! When the carbon trading schemes start hitting every NZer and then we start listening to the "true science" (not the sponsored by industry crap) about how it is solar that affects on our envisonment, then you will see the chance you missed... What you are going to see with this carbon tax/credits stuff is going to be the biggest worldwide scam the world has ever seen, and I will be pointing the finger at the hippies who supported and spread the misinformation and helped it get into place... Oh, the planet will be fine. CO2 levels back a few million years ago were 10x higher than now - and temps were the same. I bet you have never heard that piece of science before. And I suspect no-one in power will want you to either.

I wish the world could learn from this lesson. These "climate change", "global warming", "carbon credit/tax" idiots are going to poke us all up the bum! It's a big scam people!!!

The climate is changing. Has since the start of time. Global Warming was a bunch or arse - so that's why the hippies changed to "climate change". Need to get rid of those hippies who get on bandwagons and waste our time, resources and money. These "carbon dioxide" people are going to costs all of you a sh*t load of money - with little or NO effect on the environment. Climate change is not anthopogenic. End of story. Most of them would support a ban of Dihydrogen Monoxide without investigating what it is...

Just came back from a (wet) track day put on by Jerry Clayton BMW to drive BMWs - and competitor cars on the track. It was pretty awesome!!!!! Cars: e90 M3, e90 335i, 118d, 123d Coupe, X6d, M6, Audi A3 Quattro, A6 Quattro, Mercedes e320 Highlights of the day: - BMW X6 on a wet track. That thing is incredible!! It hangs on and somehow just gets around quickly. - BMW M3 4-door. Obvious. With a few pointers from Robbie Francevic (YES, he was in the passenger seat with me!), I started to get the hang of a high-revving V8. Wild. - Watching the M3 doing hot laps with Mike Eddy at the wheel...drift city! (I'm sure the M6 would have been wicked - but we only used that through the slalom - first/second gear only) Rubbish of the day: - Mercedes E320. OMG!!! This thing was trying to kill us all. Talk about dodgy handling!!! - Audi A3 Quattro. Who sez 4WD is better in the wet. It couldn't keep up with the 118d!! Seriously. If you get an invite for a day like this - or BMW driver training - do it. Mike and team are awesome.

Yeah, pretty much. The Sony live view gives you a very accurate representation of what your shot is going to look like before you take it - the Canon doesn't. The Canon can still be used in live view mode, but it doesn't take into account any of your settings for the preview. The Sony Alpha range is just like the other guy said - lots of presets like a point-and-click. But, you can run it exactly like the Canons in shutter, aperture priority modes - and full manual if you want to.

I'll back up the 450D as an awesome camera. Great selection of parts, lenses and a good community of users. Can't really go wrong. I actually bought the Sony A350 myself - and it is a GREAT piece of kit. It is the left over result of the R&D Konica Minolta were doing before Sony bought them out. A lot of my friends have the 400D or 450D (actually, I have a mate who just bought the Canon 5d Mk ][). The A350 has a MUCH better live view (in fact, the Canon one is quite rubbish compared) - but the Canon has much better noise reduction at high ISOs (like 1600+). The Sony Alphas use the Minolta lense mounts - so you have a huge number of lenses out there to choose from also. You can't go wrong with either as far as I can tell. My friends and I compare shots all the time and in the end it is the photographer. I don't think you can buy a bad camera out of the Nikons, Canons, Sony Alphas etc. They all work really really well.
