OK, I'm probably going to get flamed - but anyway... I've been thinking about a e30 project car. Taking a e30 coupe and building it up into a "M3 spec" road car. I wouldn't put M3 badges on it, or even try to pass it off as a M3 - but I would love to have a project like this to work on every weekend. Any thoughts? Websites? Anyone done it? Exactly what make a e30 M3 different to the standard e30 coupe? Details?

No, I didn't get any...(I'm not sure it is an M3....isn't it an e30 325 with a e46 M3 engine? Anyone know?) I have one shot of it in my Flickr photostream.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrad01/285531...57607261770949/

Not at all. I have a e92 and my mate has a e90 - and side by side, there isn't a panel that you could swap between them. Completely different cars.

I bought it in from the US - wasn't to bad, about $700 (modbargins). The computer takes a while to adapt - so I will have to get out and do some kms...The stock airbox wasn't great for heat anyway - and it passes through the airbox on its way down to the intercooler... When I spoke with the LSD people, they said that on the street you would have to be REALLY pushing it hard to get the LSD advantage - the track is where they recommend their product. I must say that my RX8 was fun on roundabouts with the LSD...

Thanks! (I looked at the M3 - I'm just not really a V8 kinda guy...) No LSD, but that is OK - I have priced up a Quaife LSD, but don't really have a major traction problem. I'm sure I would need it if I went out on the track...

Just finished installing my aFe intake into my 335i...here are a couple of quick snaps for those who are interested... Sounds AWESOME too....one per turbo...sweet... Just need to do some WOT runs to get the computer to adapt and it should be all good to go. Marcus

Thanks! I would LOVE to get it out on the track by myself one day......dream dream dream....

What is the most often played song in your BMW?

Naa, I should be able to come under 13 in a dry run. Guesstimate HP of 230hp - which is very wrong. Once it stops raining in Auckland, I'll try some dry weather runs.

I went out on my "private test track" today with the iPhone app...was only a little damp, but recorded a 13.7 quarter and a 0-100 of 5.3sec I'm sure I could do a lot better in the bone-dry... Very very kick-ass app.

Hi, The front are 225/35 The back are 255/30 Not sure of the offset - but whatever it ships with from the factory. The wheels and tyres are stock standard...just painted.

When I was looking at buying, I drove the Audi S5 and the 335. The Audi interior (on first impression) is great - while the BMW was plain jane. Since the S5 sucked, I didn't go that way - but yes, I was a little flat on the interior...5 months later - happy. The interior hasn't started creeking or breaking or anything like that - and it is extremely simple to use. Less can be more. So, yes, first impressions are not great, but after owning it for a while - you begin to understand BMWs thinking...

Ha, we are assuming there is a carbon problem...

Thanks - yeah, I have the Beltronics STi-R - which is built into the car and completely invisible. One quick touch of a concealed switch shuts off the Radar and the laser blockers too... Awesome detector!!

Thanks for that! The wheels are 19" BMW Motorsport OEM 225 style - painted by Bays Car Painters - they paint lots of BMW wheels... Yeah, I'll check out what diffusers come on the market. BMW don't really care about the mods, I checked - it's my car, there is no lease or anything on it. The warranty covers the BMW workmanship and materials etc - the exhaust itself isn't covered - but the engine still is. The exhaust is a cat-back style, they would care if I removed the cats and put in hi-flow headers I'm sure. As for the SSTT - it takes less than 2 minutes to remove with absolutely no trace in the computer.
-
SSTT is the Split Second Turbo Tuner...really simple attachment which tricks the ECU into thinking it is at high altitude - so it ups the boost to 11psi from the standard 8. Check it out... http://www.splitsec.com/

I recorded this for the Remus guys in the US... Plug in some headphones (or good speakers) and you'll hear the turbos.... http://www.grepsoft.net/RemusQuad335i.mp3
-
Maybe, but the SSTT gives it 40 more rwhp and 50 ft/ibs torque...the butt dyno (and the poor traction control) REALLY notice it. It absolutely slams you back in the seat and holds you there until you let the gas off. Fun! I really need to run it to see for sure I guess!! Here is a slip from a dude in the US with exactly the same setup as me... (Left side)

Hi, I've been reading a heap on here to get my e30 318i up and running - thanks for all the info. I also have a 335i which I posted up in the Gallery - but for those who login as guest - here are my pics on my car. Spent a bit of cash on it - blacked it out, quad exhaust, TurboTuner (shiiite its fast stock, now its faster!!) Figure its about 4.8 sec to 100k and should cover a 1/4 in about 12.8... (people with similar setups in the US get times like this) Anyway, check it out! Marcus
