just std dexon 3 is ok fot these old trans , but sometimes they can have a mod done to them to fix the 1st issue , i know i guy up here that does them , or can do another trans $400-450

unplug the head light adjusters , then see if the faults go away 9 times out of 10 they do .

Its Ross at bmworkshop , used to be borris one before that , very mint

dont drive it , it wont be able to regulate the correct temp with air in the system . and these m54's run pretty hot normally and wont take much to push it over the edge and damage the head or head gasket cheaper to get a taxi than a new engine

get a spare m50 or m52 block and work on that before swapping it over etc . can do a 1996 m52b25 block if you need one

its genuine 540is i think he got it from ross at bm workshop who got it from ray the purple one . the other is a manual swap , from a scruffy ,damaged 540is (the blue one) , that cover is just from a e38 or e39 etc has the later clip on cover type , to replace the old broken m60 types . money in hand , is if you write it off you own in it
