you will need to make your diff to suit the v8 . e39 540i use a larger diff than the 6cylinders , and not many ratio choices , so you get the gears from a older e34 e34 e28 e24 e23 large case diff etc and get them fitted to your diff as well as fitting a lsd into it . costs about 200-300 to swap bits around plus the price of the donar diff etc $500-800

small update , most pipes and bits swapped around .new light weight ali flywhell and new clutch bolt to the engine , gearbox bolted up , new engine mounts fitted ,std e34 headers on the engine , basically ready to lift back up into the engine bay

also the key on the right is more worn , so you may have more issues with that one , haver similer issues with a worn key in my e28

used to do a lot of sking and fast boat driving , from the tuakau bridge boat ramp , mercer boatramp and then mostly the elbow (out from pukekohe ,then puni) most have ski lanes there , but if you keep going up the river further not many people to bother etc. the elbow has quite a good boat ramp and nice parking area etc
