525i X 4WD Wagon......any other 4WD Bimmers around?
BM WORLD replied to Dr. M's topic in General Discussion
we have one as a parts car at european car parts. i know of about 4 e34 4wd wagons 2 autos 2 manuals -
you could just the e34 535i engine with the complete e28 535i wiring loom and ecu etc . swap all teh manifolds and other bits other. also you will most likly have to make up some new engine mounts as the later engines dont have the casting for teh old mounts etc e34 535i has less power and torque because it has less compression than the e28 engine . i have a good e28 535i 10;1cr engine sitting in my shed , had a newly built up head on it etc before i removed it and fitted a m5 engine.

wiper control relay box in the fuse box . indicator stalk little tiity broken off . have those bits if needed. cheers . good score too

have a semi complete parts car of the same model at work panels are all std e34 stuff , except the touring stuff of corse . 4wd system is unique to e34 model . all the front struts , brakes , lower arms , steering rack , front diff , sump etc is all unique . rear suspension is fairly comon has self leveling like m5 , e32 750il some 540i etc . gearbox std e34 type engine is std m50 vanos type . wheels are specific offset more offset than e36 wheels . http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....c=29836&hl=

and i thought my wifes one was bad at about 14.5l per 100km. my old ex uk one used to get about 12L per 100km non ac , lsd , 3.25 lsd 16" alloys
-
everything in the front suspension , brakes , steering is 4wd type only . rear end is self leveling suspension.
-
yes can do .
-
wrong wheels , they only came with 2 options , steel wheels with hub caps and the borring type like these. maybe they had those e39 wheels shaved at the back to get the offset right . the factory wheels are like about et45 or et50 etc
-
and so it shall be AMEN!.my thoughts exactly , best of both worlds ps . only the very early blocks 78-82 had the cooling system problems , different head casting to the 82 to 92 heads
-
can do , and can send down if needed. cheers brent 021433600

they got it wrong , the us spec engines from that era where low compression pistons but here in nz , uk and most of euro land go the full monty 218hp 10:1 cr pistons . then they dropped it back for the e32 ,e34 models to 9;1 211hp so they could run on 91oct fuel and get better emission results etc , but they did improve the breathing with sleightly bigger valves and intake ports etc

yea i was selling my 99 540i touring a couple of years ago and the buyer was a huge guy and when he sat in the passenger seat the airbag light came on and stayed on , he still brought the car , his problem anyway he broke it , but the car had done 200,000 odd k's
-
yup you want a e28 535i , e24 635csi or e23 735i engine to get the 10;1 pistons
-
better to remap the ecu , then it will be optimal for your engine etc .
-
bring around to my work , have all the parts021433600

yes most black ones dont fall down(yet) i have one here 021433600

either get a new seat sensor mat fitted approx $600 done , or swap the seat for another one approx $300. you still will need the srs light reset
