wrong wheels , they only came with 2 options , steel wheels with hub caps and the borring type like these. maybe they had those e39 wheels shaved at the back to get the offset right . the factory wheels are like about et45 or et50 etc

and so it shall be AMEN!.my thoughts exactly , best of both worlds ps . only the very early blocks 78-82 had the cooling system problems , different head casting to the 82 to 92 heads

can do , and can send down if needed. cheers brent 021433600

they got it wrong , the us spec engines from that era where low compression pistons but here in nz , uk and most of euro land go the full monty 218hp 10:1 cr pistons . then they dropped it back for the e32 ,e34 models to 9;1 211hp so they could run on 91oct fuel and get better emission results etc , but they did improve the breathing with sleightly bigger valves and intake ports etc

yea i was selling my 99 540i touring a couple of years ago and the buyer was a huge guy and when he sat in the passenger seat the airbag light came on and stayed on , he still brought the car , his problem anyway he broke it , but the car had done 200,000 odd k's

yup you want a e28 535i , e24 635csi or e23 735i engine to get the 10;1 pistons
-

correct , you will need the shifter mech as it has a different size shaft . can do if needed. its a nice upgrade

as silverfox said , if just for road use or the odd track day lowered stiffer spriongs and good bilsteins or koni's etc will do . i have had my bilsteins tightend up with kings springs for e34 at front and h&r at the back , stifer sway bars from white-line handles pretty good and flat now , a little bouncy for the road but ok.
-
also have a e28 m30 5spd box if needed
-
have plenty of parts at work .
-
if using a m30 block you will need a gearbox to suit . here is a pic of the m30 engine bore stroke ratio's etc use a early 1979 to 1982 m535i 635csi or 735i block fit a later 1983 onward 635csi 735i 535i crank into it i think you will go over your 3k budget though with this conversion
