diffs are quite comon . but could be wheel bearings . i have low millage replacement diff if needed . 021433600 cheers brent

auto leign siad next time they would just get some "dobi" springs and measure up to fit etc . could be from anything as long as the diameter is right and the ride height and spring rate is what you want

get him to check the distance between the top 2 bolt holes on the bellhousing , m10 and m30 are 120mm. m40 m20 ,m50 are 140mm

it blow any smoke when this happens , could be leaky injector ( over fueling will cause black smoke on up)oil in cylinders will be thick white smoke that hangs around water in the cylinders white/grey steam that disapairs maybe the engine temp sensor open circuit or reading wrong temp (higher resistance will tell the ecu to increase fuelling) worn out airflow meter etc

thats my thoughts , my 325i M50 coupe 5spd with a chipped ecu pulls cleanly all the way up to the rev limit 6300rpm . if i fit the std ecu in its a bit slower past about 5700rpm then the rev limiter cuts in at 6200rpm , doesn't feel to different at the lower rpm range . but this newer 328i that i have got has more torque at the low end but the power just stops at about 5200rpm just feels flat . very dull to drive when you want some fun . i think bmw just pretty much capped the power there but if it was remapped i think the power would just keep going up to point . but maybe would be held back a bit by the (525e) ETA stlye inlet manifold. gavin will be remapping his e39 528i soon , so I look forward to the results with its standard manifolds etc. but i think with my car i will try and take it a bit further .I have some long headers lined up . and maybe some cams along with the M50 manifold

those side skirts and rear skirt are zender or bbs type not the mtec type . you should see a label at the ends of teh skirts. my silver car has the mtec type . to sort the handling just fit some new shocks , and maybe stiffer sway bars to stop the roll
-
better for track days and drag racing etc .when shifting gears betweem 4500rpm and 6000rpm , but if the engine is not making any increase in power above 5200rpm you would be disadvantage . but maybe all it needs is a remap to take out the retardation that bmw put into the m52 engines above 5200rpm

could be oil seaping into the a cylinders or coolant etc. start of a head gasget or cracked head . has the engine ever been over heated or creaping up temps etc .

i have tried a couple of options in my M535i brands like J**** and H&*. but be carfull most only lower it but not any stiffer spring rates etc. ended up having to remove them . i have bilstein shocks in there which have been stiffened up for track days etc . and have e34 King springs in the front which weren't as low as the other e28 ones i tried which just slammed it but without anymore handling. the e34 ones had a higher spring rate and didn't slam it as much either. still got the e28 rear h&* type but have rings cut into the shockc so we can adjust the ride height . pics attached the J**** brand then H&* brand then the current set up i have with e34 kings in front and H&* rears then the origanal std mtec option

i am looking into it as well . have dumby fitted some long headers (got off whayne) on to a 320i wreck today . but will be looking at getting them fitted to my 328i coupe when i convert it to a manual . along with a m50 manifold and a remap at some stage afterwards . maybe cams as well???

like i said convert the 2.5aL engine to the later motronic loom , basically use all the parts from your 2L engine . get yourself a 2.5L ecu ,afm and air intake pipe etc
-
was on tm about a year ago . nice car . was asking about $6k then
-
can help email [email protected]
-
yes just use most of the facelift wiring loom, sensors etc etc . you will need a 2.5L ecu (i have one) also 2.5L afm and inlet(and piping) and exhaust manifolds etc

i second that . i had a 99 540iT it had a abs light issue .fault codes came up as faulty wheel sensor. turned out to be be dry/bad joints in the ABS control circuit board mounted to the abs pump . i had mine repaired by guy who specialises in doing car electronics . i still could drive the car around with out the control box on it . (just had no speedo) i have some earlier abs pump modules from 96 528i 95 740i 96 540i if your brothers car is a early type
