My Webpage stuff etc etc http://www.cardomain.com/id/greyhartge I'm going to overhaul a 3.5L m30 218HP (10:1comp) engine in my M535i ,its done 462000km ,the front 2 lobes onnthe camshaft are worn down (lack of oil been feed to them ) the spray rail oil holes were back fromthe lobes . also the oil light stays on for about 10-20seconds after starting . the engine runs ok except for the top end noise from the number one rockers.also when the engine is warm and back at idle the oil light flickers sometimes( the oil in the engine at the moment is pretty black and gritty been sitting for 8months and the service lights are all on ) .so i was planing to remove head to get the camshaft rebuilt and reground up.but also i should look at doing valve grind /seals etc .i dont know whats been done to the engine as far as servicing , i thought while i have the head off i might do the rings as well and should i look at doing the oil pump as well ,I have a spare E34 535i 211hp (9:1comp) enigine sitting there which is for sale ,but i was thinking about weather i should keep it for parts ,maybe use the E34 head , can i use the internals from the oil pump from a e34 into e28 oil pump ,i know the sumps and oil pumps are different . should i use the E34 lower block (only done 211000km)and put the E28 pistons into it with new rings etc . any info or help would be appreciated

  7. i ahve a good freind who is a technician (radio /tv etc) GOT HIM TO HAVE A quick look at it ,he measuredthe trany as a dead short ,he didn't know what it was ( special custom trany made for bosch) did a little research on the net ,found a circuit diagram for a porsche 911/944 the same as bmw jusyt different maps . talked to another audio tech ,he did some work with electronic ignition systems in the 80 /90's u found the trany was in the coil switching section . he sugested the TIP665 (high voltage darlington NPN ,fast switching)brought that off him for $10 ( abit cheaper than $3000 for new ECU) 2nd hand they are rare ,$200-$300 . so i fitted it in and it started first turn . ps.what small bits are you after .whats your email address .
  8. 1982 635csiA 3 spd auto (I have a 4spd auto availible or a 4spd manual conversion kit),193000miles ,Uk import in 1987 ,needs a little TLC ,it has the coolest back seats for Two. has had a new paint job in last few years ,looks like reco'd head (maybe bottom end) drives nice ,pulls very well , reg on hold ,wof just run out , i have to many projects at the moment .need the space , $3900ono email retrah1@wave.co.nz or 021433600 or 09-2997389
  9. i have a 1986 M535i 5spd 1986 535i 4spd auto switchable . 1988 535i 5spd 1990 535i 4spd auto switchable. 1982 635csi 3 spd auto . 1982 525i 4spd manual . 1987 525i 4 spd auto (parts car ) 1989 535iA was a 4spd auto now has no gearbox just an engine and a diff and no exhaust (sounds orsom). prefer manuals hands down . also have a manual conversion kit for a M20 block 520i or 525e E28 etc $300

  11. just fitted a new transistor into the ECU tonight ,chucked it into the car and it started first crank ,. after a bit of research found the main output trany in the coil switching stage was shorted (from last owner jumping it with 24volts) had trouble identifing what the part was (specially made for bosch),after talking to few people found out its just a std high voltage switching trany .replaced it with a TIP665 soldered it in with a little mod (old trany had 3 legs ,new one only 2) put it in the car ,and away it went . just need to do some rust work ,rebuild the cam and head ,recolour the upholstery ,replace all the worn drivetrain ,front&rear bushes ,front windscreen and it will be a new car. also just picked a 1982 635csiA tonight its done 192000miles ,silver ,black leather recaros ,fresh paint over rust . looks ok ,drives well ,had a reco'd engine at some point , that makes 8 bmw's in the back yard at the moment .anybody want some .   12. i netralised the rust first ,then bogged it ,will be better for me just to replace the door when it falls off ,I'll wait for a silver one to come availible .
  13. havn't got the ECU to run the M535i yet ,but went looking for new 2nd hand mags 16" or 17" tried a couple of wreckers they had nothing decent ,then tries this tyre/mag shop local to me ,talking to the flooor manager ,he had some 16"bbs from a mid 90's 5 series ,wanted to get rid of them been sitting on there shelf for 6mths plus ,said i could have the set of 4 for $200nzd (approx $125usd) .i thought about it for half the day ,then brought them .just need some sticky tyres ,and hub rings now . they are 8"wide 16" bbs ,mint condition . also started grinding out some rust in the left rear door (filled it with BOG) will get another door same colour some time latter ,also cleaned up the battery holder ,will have to replace that ,ahve a spare parts car for the that part and the windscreen ,removed the front spoiler to straighten out a little and cleaned all the grills repalced plastic screws etc (its good having all the spares in your own back yard ) refitted all the carpet back into the boot .replaced the leaking radiator with one i had from a 525i . just need that ECU now so i can move it .   19. this 525i 4spd manual 1982 nz new, has 1 month left on reg ,wof has expired ,needs new tyres ,diveshaft bearing ,interior is rough ,done 342000km nz new ,2 or 3owners ,looks like reco'd engine at some stage ,runs fine ,has rust in left rear door ,a few dents ,left doors ,bonnet ,right front gaurd etc ,seats worn ,some door trims worn , rust around boot lip seal ,all rust has been nutralised .a/c needs regas ,a few bulbs need replacing,no stereo , but i do have a complete car very similer (a 1987 525iA 115000miles) which you could get all the parts you need to make this a tidy car .parts would be cheap to the buyer of this car just needs a bit of TLC and time (i dont have at the moment) to many projects !!!! $500ono
