Thanks for the comments guys, always good to know there's fans out there, and yes white msport e30 FTW! Just on a side note. Got pulled off the road at a alcohol testing stop on wellesley st friday night, with my illegal plates and the ridiculously huge hole in my header (anyone at the meet on thursday can testify for its loudness), and all the 4 cops looking my car over could come up with was i wasnt wearing my glasses, i was wearing contacts. I think that if you dont draw attention to yourself you are less likey to get pinged. I also lolled at the fact that just after i got pulled over another e30 was pulled over aswell. Racial much??

This is exactly what i am doing, at the same place aswell. Talked to Boris a few months ago now and thats how i got keen on the map-ecu2 device. Iv installed it all myself and had it running in auto-learn mode for the last few weeks now, and now its time to remove the afm and get it tuned. Hopefully i will be posting up some good results mid week. Sorry if i confused anyone, but i was just interested as to how/where to get a bracket made for the airbox so i can run a straight pipe through. Will probably just get APT to do it now aswell as the tune, saves hassle for a little less cash in hand. Once i've got this all up and running, il post up some info and costs, to make it easier if anyone wants to follow Boris and I.

Thanks for that, i'll look into them.

Being a top national runner and all, you wouldnt happen to know either Michael Banks, or Ben Barry would you?

Ok sorry guys i should have explained that im running a map ecu2 system, and that the device runs off absolute manifold pressure instead of air flow. I need to run a straight pipe from air box to throttle body, with a air temp sensor in the pipe. What i was wondering is that, can i use a silicone pipe? and has anyone had any experience with this?
-
HB Ryan, was good to meet you last night. Have a good one!

About to replace the afm with a straight pipe, and before i do this i wanted to check if theres anything i should know? Im assuming aluminum is the way to go, but is there anything wrong with a silicone pipe? Is there any fabrication needed?

Riley inspired me to give her a clean so heres a few pics with the new smoked indicators, red rears, and euro plates.

Im actually getting keener and keener lol. Iv been having dreams about wheels. What i really want are some 17" Rs's but i know they're rare as rocking horse sh*t in 4x100.

Yeah im hoping it would be no more than 3000. I'll come and see you tomorrow morning Glenn an talk about this in a bit more detail. I am aware that it will probably blow my budget, but im not too worried about that, these mods are long overdue. Id also be wanting to use a lightened flywheel too. If i was to use the 272/284 cam, would it be too much lift if i wanted to turbo/supercharge later on? Thanks for the input guys, its helping alot
-
What i dont get is the dual cam watsit thingys. ie the 272/284? am i just reading it wrong? Spoke to steve from Motorsport Engineering about replacing the cam, and maybe the 288 would be the best option for more power/little loss? Im confusing myself already
-
yup thats the one. pity hes only got one though

Im finally getting down to business with the performance mod side of things. Firstly: Im looking at getting a shrick 284 cam. Does anyone know of a place cheaper than ireland engineering? Secondly: Where to get 17lb injectors + fuel pump? And also whereabouts would i get my cam replaced? Has anyone had any good experiences? Any help/guidance is appreciated. Cheers Andrew

Went to put my bbs's back on the rear today and the center caps are no longer where i put them, had a huge search, but my guess is someone walked off the street and stole em when my bro left the garage open. Does anyone know where i can get another pair from? with the bmw symbol instead of bbs would be nice too.

Lowering the front of my e30
Andre3000 replied to Andre3000's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Yeah im familiar with the different guard heights of the pfl and fl e30's. I love the ride my susp package gives so im nt sure that i really want to go messing with it. Maybe i'll just get some larger rims and see what that looks like. -
I've got a H&R spring and bilstein shock combo, but as you know prefacelift e30's look lower in the back than at the front. I've talked to a few people about lowering the front some more. Wat i want is the front wheels to be the same distance from the guard as the rear. Has anyone tackled this issue before? I'm not keen to get new springs or shocks. Would shortening the shocks, and compressing the springs work? Any input would be helpfull. Cheers
