17/18 x 8.5 what would be the best offset to fill guards on e36?
pjay replied to treggo's topic in Wheels & Tyres
Call me young and inexperienced, but I don't see how nothing but wider tyres on the rear make your car quote "sharp and responsive rather than loose and vague." To Treggo: 17x8, ET24. 215/45's on rear and 205/45's on front. As you can see, the guards still have more space and would look much better with the wheels spaced a bit. This is a form>function stance though, I wouldn't think I would win any races like this. And this pic was taken with 205/40's on the front with a couple degrees of neg camber. See, plenty of space! -
Yeah Mattfresh. I only made the connection once I visited his blog.. Small world.

I feel safe with 205's on the rear as it is now, why would 225's feel really loose? I'm not sure anyone drives a car to its limits daily on public roads. If you want to fill your guards with 17x8's and 225 tyres, try go anywhere between ET15 - 25. I'm running ET24 at the moment with 17x8's and have had 225/45, 215/45, 205/45 and 205/40's. The 225's rubbed on the inner guard up front but the rear was fine. With the 205's I can space them out about 20mm with a bit of guard work. I do have the car pretty low though and have a small amount of camber up front and rear. I couldn't say anything for 18's as I've never run them. -
DO A BACKFLIP.. Oh wait: http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video...subj=1225321538 You probably need a facebook login.

Doesn't really matter what other people think. If this is anything as good as the last QUBE, sweet. Sounds like a plan.

Sweet ass S12 today on the Shore stanced to hell. And last night in town spotted Yellow 850 dude; well he spotted me. Sorry I wasn't very talkative, mates were trying to bustle me into Be Bar. There was also a sweet ass Toyota Runx or something on red/pink rims. It was pretty sweet.

Yeah he's running some camber and has the front guards rolled too by the looks of it. I've got Camber shims thanks to Nick, and I will be getting the fronts rolled also, possibly pulled so I'm sure I'll be ok. -4.2 Degrees up front on this one

Do you find your PC is quickest after a restart? The apps you're running may have memory leaks Glenn.

Yeah I'll have guard work to do. They're a finger tight at ET24 at the moment, and hard lock scrapes on non flat surfaces in the front. I've run 225/45, 215/45, 205/45 and now 205/40 in the front @ ET24. 205/40 rubs more that 205/45 and 215/45 was about the same as the 205/40's. The rears have had no problems yet at the current offset with the same size tyres. Keep in mind also, the front is very low. At stock height, or even legal height she is fine. That was some pretty quick thinking by your lawyer and pretty quick acting on your part upon receiving the Repo notice.

The odds for all top 4 amounts to be knocked out in the first four openings is 1 in 14,950 (4/26*3/25*2/24*1/23). The odds for the top 4 amounts to be knocked out in descending order is 1 in 358,800 (1/26*1/25*1/24*1/23) - that is just one episode every 1,600 years!! Awesome..

Boom, take that all you cry babies that go on about ET20 rims not fitting E36's. I'm glad you've got them on. What tyre widths? I'm confident I can get to ET5 with 205/40's on my 17x8's.
