A female Social Worker in a supermarket is following a grandfather and his badly behaved 3 year-old grandson. It's obvious to her that he has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets in the sweet aisle, biscuits in the biscuit aisle; and for fruit, cereal and pop in the other aisles. Meanwhile, Grandad is working his way around, saying in a controlled voice, "Easy, William, we won't be long . . . easy, boy." Another outburst, and she hears the granddad calmly say, "It's okay, William, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy." At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Grandad says, again in a controlled voice, "William, William, relax mate, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, William." Very impressed, the woman goes outside where the grandfather is loading his groceries and the boy into the car. She said to the elderly gentleman, "It's none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don't know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa." "Thank you madam," said the grandfather, "but I'm William . . .. that little bastard's name is Jason."

I got a set of reverse overlays a while ago unfortunantly they were 260km and my speedo is only 240km By reverse I mean what is black now is changed to white and what is white is changed to black. Comes with all the coloured bits for indicators etc and new bulbs as the standard ones are red I think. Keeping till I have to change my cluster when I do the conversion as the 6 cylinder is 260Km speedo 4 cylinder is 240Km. edit link added ebay link

After a couple of weeks of collecting parts i finally had a nice day to do the service on my lil bma I did all the filters including those pesky little cabin/pollen filters. Sort of explains why no air was flowing into the cabin Air filter not much better Changed the oil and filter using Valvoline semi synthetic and a Topran filter (German brand) The filter came with all the O rings and even had a crush washer for the drain plug. Got from Trademe. Purchased a filter removal tool from ebay. Cost $28 delivered. Took 4 days to get here. Great service I reckon and it works. What a shite of a job to remove the cabin filters. Had to pull all those panels by the wipers to get at them. Just as well I had to remove to do the cam cover gasket as well. Replaced all the bolt seals as well as the spark plug seals. Got them from Gavin. Fitted new plugs while I was there (NGK's) Just as well I was replacing the spark plugs as number 1 and 2 plug holes were half full of oil. No wonder the car was hard to start and had a little misfire. Oh and I had a couple of each of these just to pass the time. Was a good 4 hours of work, well a couple of hours actually doing stuff and the rest of the time standing looking, drinking and smoking. Just finished before the clouds come over and made it too cold and dark. Was going to take for the obligratory (sp) test drive but wont drive even after one drink so tomorrow I will go for a drive and see if everything I did smoothened out the missfire and rattle in the engine. I now remember why I dont do mechanicing stuff any more. I hate getting dirty and oily. All in all a good day bonding with my favourite toy.

Welcome fellow townie. Nice colour combo. Have always been partial to white cars. Haven't seen you around but keep an eye out now.

Wouldn't mind the arm rest and cup holder myself but I understand the compact is different and the arm rest wont fit.

I guess most people here have never done a skid. I am the first to say I have done exactely the same thing as what he was doing. It came down to skill - practice and a lot of luck that I never hit anyone and I did it in heaps of crap that wouldn't even be allowed on the roads today. Thats my 2c
