Everything worked fine untill the Guy in the shop fitted the battery into the key back to front/upside down, so key lost its sync.Light flash's on key so that bit works after I changed the battery around. Followed the instructions that Glenn gave in a very old post and everything seems to go as planned but no conformation lock/unlock old post http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=7494 SUCCESS Took me 5 times in a row to get it to work. Pointed the key "very close" to the adjuster for the mirror tilt. Guess thats where the sensor is. Was very surprised and happy when the central locking cycled.

Been having a shite of a time trying to get my key to work the central locking. Have searched the net as well as the forum, used every type of system to sync the key to the central locking. Yes I used the stickey method but still no luck. One thing I am not sure about is people say "point the key at the red clown nose' Well I dont seem to have a red clown nose. By the rear view mirror there is a box with a red led light thing and what looks like a speaker grill. Pic attached. Tried the hold the unlock button push unlock button 3 times and 4 times. I do this while the red light is flashing on the key right? YES IT IS THE IR KEY. Its the system with the round and oblong buttons on the key. Damn I am really at the end of my tether here. Nearest BMW dealer is in Christchurch (2 hour drive away) so going all the way up there to get the key working is not really a thing I want to do. Pic of box on screen; Any Ideas Guys? If that box not for the central locking what is it?

Clever little begga aint ya

Recently the remote on my key stopped working MOST of the time till today it stopped working altogether. Fitted new batteries to fob, now the red indicator lights dont light up when button is pushed. Dont know if this was like this before today (the lights not lighting up that is). Yes it is one of those stupid IR keys. I tried that initilization thingy but no flashing lights so presume the key fob is toast or is it? What ya reckon. Fitted cr2016 batteries which I think are the right ones OK fix the lights not flashing - silly bugga put the batteries in the wrong way round Lights now light up all I have to do now is program the key.

Yes dont throw a screwdriver through I bought a "special" removal tool. Looks like a large socket with a holein the top for a 3/8 drive ratchet. Works a treat for me. Got mine from the states tho, couldn't get one local. Something like this Make sure you get one with the right amount of flutes

Wanted a mounting frame for the lefthand foglight. That is the plastic frame the foglight sits into. Motorsport front. Pelican parts picture Also the foglight as well as mine is cracked so might as well replace that at the same time.

Looks OK just keep away from the gutters

Was going to do the tensioner and water pump at Christmas along with major service of water system. Looks llike Christmas may come early for lilbma. Really need to get a stethoscope as I cant lean over the engine through back injury. Thanks for your input Guys.

Got a squeeling noise coming from the front of my engine (M44) Thought it was the idler pulley for the drive belt. Greased that made, no difference. The other night I started the car noise was there and got louder when I turned the headlights on. MMMMMM Now Im thinking it may be the alternator bearings. Noise only there at low revs - idle and just above. What say you?

Is that the older carsoft setup? If so go here Carsoft 6.5 I got mine from here. arrived in 4 days. customer service is online/chat. Cheaper too Also if you have problems with the software go here Carsoft success go to post 7 for a run down on how to get things going.
