  1. Wicked idea for a cheap advert for his airbrushing. Created lots of interest and by the looks has already picked up some work. props!
  2. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-288169529.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-343865787.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-331220781.htm May not meet your cheap to run criteria, but it is 10x the car the Naturally aspirated 4 cyl B4 is. 3.0 Flat six. mmmm.
  3. spotted a nice looking e39 540i with the plate W0MBLE heading south on Mana esplanade.
  4. ^^ On the open road i get better economy from my 540 if i baby it than i do in my Legacy. As a daily though, I can chew through a tank in a little under or over 500 clicks. Which is the same as the Legacy, though the tank in the E34 is 25L bigger than the subie!
  5. Mint looking dark grey tech2? E30 Touring in the drive through at KFC, Paraparaumu. A Members car?
  6. Nah, this is the first anything i've done about it lol. Got a couple of mates into ho rods so gonna have a chat to them. Really just putting feelers out atm and trying to figure out what I want.
  7. Hey All, Getting hitched in March, and naturally its been left up to me to sort the cars for the day. Missus likes classic jags (think MkII) and well me being me i cant really make up my mind between the missus' choice, something like a couple of XY GT replicas or Two black E34's (mine being one) The Girl isnt too fussed however. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? Cheers Sam
  8. If i ididnt have a wedding coming up, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I've seen it in the CBD and it is gorgeous!

    1996 540i

I Always do S=R at my bottom dollar for the vehicle and a 'Dreaming' Buy now. That way people know where they stand, and if someone decides they want it there and then, then they can. Its a bit disheartning though when it dosent sell at bottom dollar
  10. ^^ Been thinking about taking my subie up to manfield for a while now. Should be good when i eventually pull finger.
  11. i'd go for some phillips xtreme power bulbs over any marketed 'blue' light. Blue bulbs tend to have a crap spread of light and thus actually give you less vision for twice the price, brightness and blueness. They look cool tho
  12. Very nice E39 M5 with the plate XXMYBM On Aotea Quay, Wellington.
  13. Send them to Warren at Rimrite. Though your in the SI so i'm not sure how that will work for you.
  14. 2k will get you a getrag 420g landed from the states. If you are lucky. Then you need flywheel, driveshaft, pedal box and clutch. Doing mine sometime in the next 12 months. would be sooner, but have a wedding to pay for!
  15. Just a idle thought really, but how much would one expect to pay for a tidy f/l E39 540i 6 speed manual these days? Any ideas on what the NZ market would be for these cars?
  16. Cheers mate! believe me, closer to the time i'll be in touch! I am looking at my options when it comes to parts for these as they are pretty thin on the ground here! may not yet be competing for the same seats
  17. Immediate plans are to fix issues (leaking P/S pump/lines), Steering box needs adjusting/replacing, and headrests need the fix applied. From there the intention is after much deliberation to update to white indicator lenses and maybe (just maybe mind you) apply a mild tint to the glass. Long term its going manual, but whether thats 5 or 6 speed is yet to be decided. Also intend to replace the steering wheel with a 3 spoke item (the same as the iS) and go to sports seats when i can find them. Currently have comfort seats without armrests. long long term i'll be looking into viable m60 rebuild options.
  18. Nice car mate. Definately deserves a better life than a tow pig!
  19. Mileage is not as relevant as maintenence. Find one that has been well maintained and they are an exceptionally good car to own. 400k still going strong is not unheard of for one of these. Shimmys can be notoriously difficult to eliminate. Diff bushes and front control arms are usual suspects. So test drive on the open road as well as urban area.
  20. Be interested to see how it goes with a 5 speed. been thinking about a 5 speed for mine as a cheaper and easier to get hold of alternative to a 6 speed.
  21. loom runs along the left hand boot hinge. common point of failure is at the bends of the hinge.
  22. Spotted a mint as white E34 with a zender looking kit on it. On centenial highway. Looked mean as.
  23. Will having a slightly higher profile tyre on the rear (255/40/18 where i think the correct profile is 255/35/18) Mess with my ZF's shift patterns on the open road? Specifically cause it to not want to shift up from 3rd after putting the boot in, meaning pulling 4kish rpm at 110ish.
