The marking you are referring to is the european type approval marking and is done on an individual component basis. Every item that is legally regulated is required to have one before the car is able to be registered in the EU (and other countries). This means that the lights, cats, brake hoses, tyres, muffler etc, etc, etc will all have an E mark visible on them somewhere to show that they meet the legal requirements. The numbers after the (E) are the individual certification number - it is unique to one family of products. The car itself doesn't have an (E) mark - only the components that go into it, and even if the exhaust has an E mark it doesn't guarantee an emissions rating (it is only one component that goes into the emissions system).

That's pretty crap - hope they will cover it under warranty for you.

While Hella may make the BMW OEM parts, they are definitely not the same as these ones listed above which are made in NZ. And even if Hella make the OEM parts, it is unlikely that they will sell them as aftermarket parts - especially in NZ (the market is just way too small). Check with a dealer would be your best bet.

It isn't 8.6km/l is it? That equates to about 11.5l/100km if my mental addition is correct.

The whole point of LED's is that they don't draw the same current as a bulb lamp.... There are some LED's that do specifically draw more current than normal in a particular mode (Hella Duraled indicators - use the blue wire not the yellow one) to try and get around this, but it is hit and miss at the best of times. Different cars respond differently. You need to either get a trailer wiring kit or build one up with relays. Edit: Talk to Hotwire, or your local sparky.

Narva do a converter to the std NZ 7 pin flat connector.

Are you serious? $180!! They are supplied by Narva - any auto sparky should have been able to get this or even make one up for sweet FA. Makes the BMW dealer pricing look pretty competitive...

My old Sony Net MD player used some Sony only format - ATRAC or something. Make sure you aren't recording in an encoded format would be the first suggestion.

Personally, I have always preferred Shoei helmets. Although a Simpson Bandit in gloss black does look pretty badass.

I have one in my E46 - bloody brilliant. The only issue I've seen was some engine interference which was sorted by moving the unit around. Oh, and my stereo only recognises up to either 80 or 99 songs (can't remember which) - after that the next time you restart it loses where you were and goes back to song 1. Both are insignificant compared ot the benefits... Get one.

I had one of those - Nokia 7110. Well, until I dropped it into a pint of Guinness right before a business trip to Japan..... Death by booze was an appropriate way to go. The best one had to be my first 5110 though - that bloody thing was indestructible. I found a new faceplate for it on the floor of the pub one night, went to put it in the pocket with my phone and realised it was my phone. Battery in one corner of the pub, the guts somewhere else. Put it back together and it still works 11 years later!

There are actually sweet FA different bulb manufacturers for H4. From memory Philips are one, Osram are another. Most of the brands you find in NZ (like Narva or Hella) are reboxed bulbs from one of the manufacturers. Things to note: - +50 means they will be brighter but not last as long. - make sure they are low UV bulbs and have an E mark on the base. - don't touch the glass. - H4 means they have high and low beam in the same bulb - you can only legally put HID in if you put the entire kit (including self levelling and washer systems) in. HID burners by themselves are a no no.
