How gutted would you be if you had sold that Bel Air thinking it was going to a good home only for it to end up a crash test dummy?? Bit surprising considering there is probably a significant weight difference as well.

They aren't legal, and you should fail a WoF if you have them on the lamps... http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/get-your...ghts-right.html

Not quite sure how this is a hard choice. A poxy mitsi that has no doubt been thrashed within an inch of its life and is a liabilty or a reasonable looking 328? Seriously?? This entire thread is a waste of valuable oxygen.

Nice indoor/outdoor flow...

Wow - you can actually see the engine in there... Not just plastic covers!

My system is an aftermarket one with pressure sensors in the valves and has performed flawlessly. Well worthwhile in my opinion.

I happened to find out that with the new Apple TV arriving soon, the old one has had the price reduced to $259. So I ordered on on Sunday night. I figured I didn't want a streaming only version (I want to actually buy movies not just rent them) and at $259 they aren't going to get any cheaper. It would have been rude not to get one. I have now hooked it up to everything (it took more time to actually connect cables etc than to configure it!) and OMFG it rocks! And with YouTube getting into live streaming soon, that could be the icing on the cake.

Can you still get Bridgestone Eagers?? Brings back memories of Toranas and HQ Holdens....

They actually called their car a Saga??? Doesn't bode well for a happy motoring experience if you ask me! Still, I guess it's no worse than the Chevy Nova in South America (no va in spanish is no go) or the MR2 in France (merde - sh*t) or Toyota Enima etc etc etc.

Sure it's glue? I've had tree sap look pretty similar.

That will do the exact opposite of what you want... You need to use Sharepod or something else to get the music off the iPod and then import into iTunes again - there are a couple of programs out there to do this although I have never done it myself. If you just connect the iPod to iTunes as is, it will erase everything on the iPod.

I have been mulling over getting an Apple TV for a while now. Every time I look, they just don't quite do what I want - which then makes me mad because it is so close.... I love the idea that you can rent or buy movies with iTunes. I also like how simple they are, and how they leverage of all the other music etc I have in itunes. I hate that you can't really use them for even basic web surfing, or stream directly from the net on-demand. And I hate that you can't use them as a standalone media centre with it's own itunes account etc. I'll be interested to see how the new version released last week pans out - but having no HD means streaming only. I want my cake and to eat it too!

I think Target did an artice on exactly this a little while back (like last series)... May pay to see if you can find the episode on-line. Can't remember what the outcome was sorry, but I do remember that the tow company taking the piss and the issue sounded similar to yours (from memory).

This was my first thought as well.

I believe that has to be the quote of the month!

Yep, the 3M stuff is the shizzle. I've heard of them testing it in the US by sticking truck bodies together with it and driving 500,000 km!

Holy sh*t that is a serious gut!

Don't you have to do a GST return though? Surely the extra GST is paid to the government, so I don't think you will make an extra 2.5%... The new rules can actually quite a nightmare to implement depending on the company - and I read recently that things like insurance policies where the contract term runs over the increase will still be charged at 12.5% until the term expires. I think the logic was that it was going to create a massive amount of work for the insurance companies for little return for the government and they saw common sense. For once. Article here

Yes, they sell them as OEM lamps to some coachbuilders (their design seems to work OK where most modern headlamps don't fit with the flat front of the bus). The price difference could be down to exchange rates, and when the last delivery was (old stock etc). The passenger side always has the highest turnover on aftermarket lamps so that would be my guess as to why the L/H is cheaper unless there is a separate control computer in one. Yes they are. Get a price from your local Hella dealer (Transport Wholesale, BNT, auto sparky) - I imagine they will be cheaper than BMW, but by how much is unknown.

mmmmmmmm - turbo spool....

Ouch with a capital O.

And now there is moisture in there, the aluminium on the reflector will start to corrode. It's a vicious cycle, and the only real fix is a new lamp. $3k each is taking the piss.... I know the technology like HID, bending and computer control etc is not cheap (I used to work for one of the OEM manufacturers) but they certainly don't cost that to make. A few fat margins in there before they get to you by the sound of it. This is a real danger for those that own headlamps with polycarbonate lenses! It is well known that PC is super sensitive to chemical attack (I have personally melted a PC lamp during testing with a truck wash product made in NZ and in common use) and most modern headlamps are polycarbonate. Be careful with them folks or you will have an expensive lesson on your hands as Glenns customer found out!

More likely that it is restricted military technology (albeit 1960's technology) and you need special permits etc to fly it. Bit like the problem we had with the Skyhawks being sold to the US etc...

E39 Steering wheel audio control
elmarco replied to BMWTouring's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Try this - it's for an E46, but I imagine the E39 is pretty similar (I think they even use the same steering wheels). -
To leave the headlamps on when exiting the car, just hit the high beam flash with the lights off. Its called follow me home lighting or something - my 330 does this. They stay on for 30 seconds or a minute or so. As for the other bits, you might find Jochen's Navcoder is able to do some of it - most of it sounds like optional functionality that can be turned on and off (or get the dealer to do it next service). The park light thing you mention is really a daytime running lamp function and I am pretty sure he said that he could switch this funciton on via his software if you wanted. You won't be able to turn the park lights off with the key I don't think as they need to be available with the car turned off.
