Not as bad, but not exactly citizen of the year either

f**k me! I see a grease spot and power hose in his future.

I'll bet - you just don't get such elegance without passion. Really iconic designs.

I do admire what Steve Jobs has done since his return. He has taken a company that was pretty much circling the toilet into the second highest market cap on the NASDAQ. They have changed the game in many areas and left all of their competitors dead in the water and this is just another one on the list.... So many others have tried and failed to make tablet PC's work (I remember using one back in 1999) and yet as soon as Apple release one every man and his chihuahua is racing to get their version to market. They may not be the first to do something, but they do have the knack of making them work where others can't, making them profitable and mass marketable. Or maybe it really is that they just cant afford to fail. How much is down to one man (Steve Jobs) is debatable, but I do find their solutions extremely elegant. Not just in their slick industrial design (which so many others try to copy and yet so often make a hash of), but the simplicity of the interface and operation. They are the masters of making things elegantly simple. Sure you can probably do more with another system and more buttons if you know what you are doing, but the user friendliness for the non-expert goes out the window. I totally agree that it would be a different (and inferior) industry without their influence.

That is pretty damn cool. I have not actually wanted an iPad until now when I am looking at replacing the laptop that may as well have pteradactyl sh*t on it it is that old and slow. I never really understood what they were trying to be or do. But now as I only do a bit of surfing the net and check the occasional email at home I reckon it would be a pretty good solution. And I wouldn't end up spending sh*t loads on freight for books from Amazon....

So pretty much what I thought then. I haven't heard any major problems with them grenading or things failing more often than expected. I wouldn't touch an Altezza anyway, and am very particular about NZ new. And yes, I know the IS300 goes much better, but this is a car for my wife to commute in...

Anyone know much about them? Anything particular I need to look for mechanically? Any pointers appreciated...

Shining the headlamp on a wall - low beam will have a distinct cut off so as not to blind other drivers. Low beams should be the outside lamps.

You can still buy Stubbies?? Wow....

But how will the Nigerian royalty keep their money safe if you don't click the link??

Haha - Wikipedia says the German version of a Bogan is "Lumpenproletariat".

Might find it is a lower sulfur content or similar.

Did you swap the other bulbs as well? It may not have been the brake lamp....
-
Always loved the Wally 118. Sadly, I probably couldn't even afford to fill the bar let alone the fuel tank!
-
Replacing your bulbs is the first port of call. Most likely that the filament has broken and is intermittently connecting if nothing else has been changed. I have had exactly the same thing before.

Seems he doesn't actually get that point Glenn...

Tried Ray at HellBM, or Brent at european car parts ltd? Be surprised if they can't help...

Haha - that was the Northern Motorway. As bad as they are, they are much better than the rural stuff in this country!
-
Yeah I reckon they could look pretty good too Jon. No you can't run the standard M3 wheels either - the rear offset is wrong for a std E46. But if they are replicas, are they different offsets? Personally I think 17's are preferable (simply because of tyre pricing and availability) than 18's, although this may have changed now. Only driven one E46 on 19's and it was like a rollerskate and bloody awful on the road (and that was nice smooth Auckland roads - hate to think what the rough chip rural roads would have been like).

What part don't you understand? The concept of not cutting corners on safety related items? Or the legal, moral, and physical consequences of getting it wrong? The manufacturers don't put these systems into their cars just for the fun of it - if you know more about it than the engineer that designed it then take your case to the LTNZ. They are a core safety system and no matter how you bitch and moan about the cost of fixing it the law in NZ says don't f**k with them. Which I happen to agree with. I for one would hunt down the former owner of my car if I found an airbag had been f**ked with and failed to inflate properly when I needed it most.

Give them a call and get a price for a new tongue.... You might also find that as they make the OEM towbars that the tongue fits other makes as well and you can widen your market EDIT: "get a price for tongue" - WTF kind of forum is this???
-
Mate of mine had Yoda on his. Trippy....
-
Not really because he is right.
-
For reference, when I was looking for one a while back I think Best Bars quoted me about $45 for the tongue alone (new)... Think you might be lucky to get what you are asking for it.
