  1. Right so this has happened to my poor baby... not really surprised knowing my luck My understanding is that this is a fairly common problem on pre-2001 E46s, so I rang BMW NZ to ask them if there is anything they can do. They told me to take the car to Team McMillan for an assessment, which is what I've done today. So they had a look at it, took some photos, etc and are going to send details to BMW tomorrow. Has anyone had any experience with this, more importantly dealing with BMW regarding this problem? I'm going to have to fix it anyway I guess, but I'm not happy at all that it has happened especially when you think about the cost that is involved in fixing it.

  7. I went to 7th form only because I wanted to go to uni. It actually was a complete waste of time because 10 years ago none of the subjects offered in 7th form had any relevance to what I did at uni (computer science). Maybe you could use 7th form to try out a few different subjects that you haven't done before (if possible) so that you may get an idea of what you want to do afterwards.

    Labour Weekend

+1 picking that up tonight... and then a nice drive tomorrow to Wellington to see Formula 1 exhibition at Te Papa.
  9. From NZ Herald The Land Transport (Enforcement Powers) Amendment Act will allow local authorities to make anti-cruising orders, which prevent "circling designated streets within defined periods of time". So now if I take my car out for a drive around the block, as I do when I have nothing else to do, does this mean I'm a boy racer? What a load of BS.
  10. Some of you may already know this, but I only learnt about this the other day and found it to be an interesting piece of historical information. After WW2, BMW factory in Eisenach came under Soviet control. They started producing cars which were initially sold as BMWs, however later changed the name to EMW (Eisenacher Motorenwerk). EMW at Wikipedia BMW 340 BMW 327

    BBQ Rules

BBQ RULES We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity . When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion: Routine... (1) The woman buys the food. (2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert... (3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand. (4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman. Here comes the important part: (5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL. More routine... (6) The woman goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery. (7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat Important again: (8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN. More routine... (9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table. (10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all: (11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts. (12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ' her night off ', and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

  18. Right so I just went to the shops and noticed a loud screeching sound (as if metal is rubbing on metal) coming from the left hand side (front I'd say). I'm guessing its not coming from the engine, as I put it in neutral and revved it up, and it sounds ok. But as soon as the car starts moving, the noise is there. Now the brakes (discs and pads) have been changed about a year ago, so... I'm going to take the car tomorrow morning for a check (German Automotive on the Shore is the only place I can think of that is open on saturday), but just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what it might be - i.e. is it safe to take it on the road. Cheers
  19. Haven't seen it from the front....but I'm guessing it's the same one, I'd be surprised if there was more than one
