  1. The problems you are currently having with your car are not covered by the warranty you have as they are pre-existing conditions. You will not be able to repair these problems using your warranty. Because the dealer has sold you a vehicle which is 'not fit for purpose', you have a claim under the 'Consumer's Gaurantees Act'. He must be given the opportunity to rectify all the problems or reimburse you for the full cost of the car. The problem I have here (without knowing who the dealer is) will he do a proper job on the repairs by sending the car to a BMW specialist, or get a 'backyarder' to do a bodgey job. KiwiSA. I have sent you a PM.
  2. Your "Holden Vectra" was nothing more than a rebadged Vauxhall.
  3. I think that a bit cruel Graham, and I seem to remember some of the old pigs you have owned, like Vauxhalls.
  4. Thanks Micheal. In that case he has to take it back to the dealer. KiwiSA, can you PM me and tell me who the dealer was you purchased the car from and I can advise you what your next course of action should be. I am an Auckland dealer and know a lot of the dealers here.
  5. First off. I don't know where you guys get the idea that KiwiSA has only had this car for 2 weeks. I have re-read the first post several times and can't find any reference to 2 weeks. Secondly, I am confused, is the car a Jap import or a NZ new vehicle? Thirdly, the best advice I can give is take the car to a BMW specialist for a diagnostic scan and discuss with him as to what your course of action should be.
  6. In the fun world of the administration of N Z Justice, not all the laughs are in the court-room. Indeed, giggles and guffaws can erupt at almost any time or place. For example: On a bitterly cold winter's day several weeks ago on the Desert Rd a N Z Police Constable on patrol came across a motorcyclist who was swathed in protective clothing and helmet, stalled by the roadside. "What's the matter?" asked the constable. "Carburettor's frozen," was the terse reply. "Pee on it. That'll thaw it out." "Can't." "OK, watch me and I will show you how pee will warm it." The constable warmed the carburettor, as promised. The bike started and the rider drove off, waving thanks. A few days later, the Waiouru office received a note of thanks from the father of the motorbike rider. It began: "On behalf of my young daughter, who recently was stranded on the Desert Road........"
  7. Hi Cliff, I saw your 325 at Glenns and he told me of your problems. If you don't know, I am a car dealer, and Glenn told me who you brought the car from and what you paid for it. This is a lesson we can all learn from. First point, check out the dealer, make sure he is trustworthy. You brought from a Tender and Auction Centre. That should have rung bells because as you now know by buying from these sort of dealers you get no warranty and you are not covered by the Consumers Gaurantees Act. Secondly, the car was very cheap. You don't get a bargain from a dealer. They know the true value of everything they sell, and if they are selling a vehicle at well below it's market value, then there must be something wrong with it. I am glad that Glenn was able to sort the problems out for you and that you now have a vehicle that you are happy with. I can't reiterate the importance of a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified specialist, especially when you are buying a European or non run-of-the-mill vehicle. Even I took an E36 M3 Evo that I wanted to buy into Glenn for a pre-purchase, and as a result, I walked away from it. It's great that you were able to get a refund and have been able to purchase a vehicle that you are happy with. And thanks Glenn for helping as much as you have.
  8. I had these pics sent to me of the ultimate driving machine and thought I'd share a few.

    Merry Christmas!

    I'm a day late, but..........................
  10. And the same to you and the boys Glenn. BTW I will be there in about 15 minutes for a beer. MERRY CHRISTMAS
  11. A stupid and mindless game, but I do love the comments. http://www.miniclip.com/games/santa-balls-2/en/
  12. We need to know what parts are available and most importantly, the prices.
  13. I always use Bees Wax on all the body mouldings, door handles, window surrounds etc. It revitalises the plastis and gives it a long lasting shine.
  14. That's not fair Graham. That means my car is unsafe. I would rather have an accident in my car than some Jappa. I would come out with a lot less injuries.
  15. The country is irrelevant Graham although they do say that the sample included both Australian and NZ figures. The main problem is young 17 to 25 year olds either can't afford decent safe cars, or as I suspect, they buy cheap shitters, lower them etc. for their "boy racer" antics. Statistics prove that the 17-25 age group have more accidents that other age groups. Maybe if they drove safer cars, then the death and serious injury rate would be a lot lower.
  16. Why don't you READ what is written before you start calling people muppets. "The results showed that among used cars, the Ford Focus, Saab 9-3 and Peugeot 307 are top rating cars in terms of safety." I think the term used here is USED cars.
  17. From todays MSN home page. A new study by an Australian university found that the cars driven by most young drivers are major contributing factors in road fatalities The study by the Monash University Accident research Centre (MUARC) looked at more than 250,000 accidents involving young people in New Zealand and Australia from 2001 to 2005 to find a connection between the types of car driven and crashed. The study found that the most popular cars for young drivers aged 17 to 25 are major contributing factors in road fatalities. The results of the study showed that because of the cars they choose, young people have an 11 percent greater risk of death or serious injury if they have an accident. “These finds are quite startling and concerning,†research team member Dr Stuart Newstead said. “In Australia 181 young people were killed in car accidents in 2008. "This age group already has the highest crash risk of any age and the type of car they were driving at the time gives them significantly lower levels of protection from death and serious injury in a crash than older motorists.†According to Used Cars Safety Ratings calculated by MUARC, the two most popular cars for women, early Ford Laser models (1982-88) and the Hyundai Excel (1995-2000), score only a one star safety rating. For young male drivers, the two most popular cars are the VL and VP model Commodore (1986-1993), both of which have a Used Car Safety Ratings score of just two stars. Dr Newstead said the poor injury protection related to a variety of factors, including the older age of the vehicle. “Even if we just look at cars of a particular age, young people are still choosing the vehicles with worse injury protection performance,†Dr Newstead said. “If we want to reduce the high rate of road fatalities and serious injuries in this age group, we should be taking heed of this research and looking at ways to change the car choices young people are making.†The results showed that among used cars, the Ford Focus, Saab 9-3 and Peugeot 307 are top rating cars in terms of safety.

    Tuesday Funny

There can be a lot of truth in humour.
  19. These have to be the ugliest. And for those who don't know............. It's a Trabant.
  20. Peter, All you have to do is swear out an affidavit and get it signed by a JP to have the ownership changed. You can download a copy of the affidavit from the LTNZ web site.
  21. And although it accellerates quicker. you are getting through a lot more fuel than when your car was an auto, aren't you Peter.
  22. Johno, the set of Nexens I got from you are really the 'Bees Knees'. Their grip in both dry and wet conditions are great, traction is excellent, and as for road noise............. what road noise. After all those years of driving on rowdy Yokohamas, I can't believe just how quiet the Nexens really are.
  23. I like number 4 the best.
  24. They don't take long to come out these days.
  25. Happy Birthday Peter. Here, have a drink on me.
