  1. I notice it's a Japanese import so it will have a Jatco transmission and that can mean trouble. In order to sell their cars in Japan, BMW were forced to include Japanese made content and the Jatco is a Japanese sourced Trans. Unfortunately these do cause a lot of problems, viz the Jatco jerk. When you take the car for a test drive keep a close eye on the gear changes. If there is any flaring or delay between gear changes then the car has transmission problems. If not, then with 212,000kms on the clock, it will do shortly. Solution is too either rebuild the trans, cost about $2,500.00 or do a manual conversion, cost approx $2,000.00. Don't let me put you off. I'm a retired car dealer and have an E36 coupe with a Jatco that has had the jerk now for 4 years and I'm only just doing the manual conversion, and remember by doing this you are adding value to your car. Manuals are worth about a grand more than Autos.
  2. I'm getting a manual conversion done next week and I need a suitable gear knob. There is nothing suitable on Trade Me and buying genuine new is expensive. Does anyone here have a suitable knob? It must be black and leather. If you have a spare one you want to sell, then please contact me.
  3. As you can see from the above, the problem has been rectified. Cost me a new set of rear shocks that didn't have to be replaced, however the car's done 121,000kms so new shocks ain't a bad thing. The next problem though, on my way to the Bimmersport meet, the car felt really sluggish and the transmission light came on. I thought I had it in 'snow' mode (wishful thinking) but no! the Jatco has sh*t itself. Surprising thing is after I left the meet, the Trans light switched itself off and things were back to normal complete with the 'jerk'. So I'm busy organising the manual conversion complete with short shifter. I just hope that the trans lasts another week as I can't get the conversion done till then. BTW a big word of thanks from the boys at Mag & Tyre for their help in finding the problem and saving me a heap of money.
  4. Come to South Auckland and it means Brown Man's Wheels.
  5. The part that is bending is the mount with the bolts that mount to the tower, not the tower itself, but thanks for the heads up.
  6. A couple of months ago my car developed a noise in the left side rear suspension. I had the rear bushes checked out and they seemed ok so I took the car to the Grey Lynn Shock Shop and had both rear shock absorbers replaced. While he had the shocks out, he found that the left hand upper shock mount was bent, and strangely it was bent downwards as if the wheel had been pulled on, not pushed upwards. He straightened out the mount and put it back in again. Well the noises have started again. I intend buying a brand new mount and getting it replaced, but before I do that, I have to find out what is causing the mount to bend downwards. Has anyone had this problem before or can tell me the reason this is happening and how to rectify the problem.

  8. A retard driving a Toyota Cielo? What did you expect................ common sense???????
  9. The beauty of my car is the colour. Black just looks soooooo much better than any other colour once it's polished.
  10. Have you used the spray for that?
  11. I have just polished C0SM0S with this new Meguires (well nearly new) polish and it is fabulous. It goes on and polishes off easily, doesn't cause problems removing it from the seams, and the finish is incredible. It looks like it is wet without the beading, and the colour intensity is enhanced quite a bit. The price is a bit OTT. I paid $52.00 for the pack which included a sponge applicater, but in saying that, I should get about 6 applications from the bottle. Re price. I know I brought it from Repco, but it was $2 dearer at Supercheap, then after talking to a friend who works at Mitre 10, I found out it's about $38 there. I could post pics, but it's raining outside and I don't want to get it wet just yet.
  12. Did you know this is happening soon? As of 1 November 2010, a new law comes into effect which allows third parties access to your name and address details via your vehicle registration plates. Click on the link below to opt out , and send this to everyone you know. https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transactions/...cess/entry.aspx
  13. Two reasons: 1 It was a female driver. 2 She was blonde Enough said?
  14. A Blonde, a Car and a Mattress A blonde ran over an innerspring mattress on the highway, and decided not to worry -- and kept on driving. It caught on the undercarriage of her Ford. The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to tear a hole in the fuel tank. The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought her vehicle to its knees. She had managed to drive 30 miles, with a 60 pound tangle of stuff wrapped around her drive shaft. She had it towed to her Ford dealership, and complained that the vehicle had a 'sort of a shimmy' when she was driving at high speeds. Below are the photos of what they found at her Ford Dealership.................... The last photo is by far the best. "Sort of a shimmy" -- I'll bet it did!
  15. Any news as to when these will be available Ollie?
  16. Just love this. http://www.videobash.com/video_show/don-t-...ube8_Trade_Box1
  17. Happy Birthday Kieran, don't forget that trip up to Auckland soon. I'll put on a birthday shout (like the old days) if you make it soon.
  18. Lance, I'm sure you know the Europlates and the bits on either end with the NZ flag and fern both on a blue background, what I am after is the same sort of thing printed on an adhesive backed sheet that will stick onto the plastic surrounds. PM me if you are able to help.
  19. The problem with using different logos is the cost. If we stick to the same logo then they can all be printed at once. As you can see by Shelly's (M325is) quote we need to order 120 decals and that's $80.00 At the moment I only have 6 sets of surrounds but can get more if they are popular. This is why I am looking for a cheaper alternative for the printing. The writing on the surrounds is removeable with paint thinners. These surrounds were brought here by Team McMillen and they have had the writing put on.
  20. I have just brought a few sets of numberplate surrounds as per the dreadful photo which fit standard NZ plates. These surrounds are the same width as a Europlate and at the moment I am trying to organise someone to print labels (blue background with a fern leaf and perhaps a BMW logo) to put at each end of the surround. The surrounds cost $12.00 a pair, and the final cost will depend on the printing costs and freight. If you are interested in a set then put up a post. PS. does someone know anyone who can print the stickers? I am talking with Shelly, however she will have to outsource the work so it won't be as cheap as I would like it to be.
  21. Ring James on 02102418455 in the evenings. He will do the entire job with new lining for less than $200.00 and he's in Auckland
  22. Well my LG's is the very latest model (PK750) razor edge full HD, blue ray, etc, etc. I got it at trade price $2,200 plus $80.00 for the wall mounting bracket. Harvey Normans best offer on this model was $3,099 and a wait till new supplies arrived.
  23. $200 to get the existing one lightened and balanced, a new short shifter, boot and new knob. approx $500
  24. I finally got $2,500.00 in my slush fund to do the manual conversion on C0SM0S. The extra $700.00 was to lighten the fly wheel and a short shifter. So I was already to go ahead. I came home the other night to find my partner desperately trying to turn on the TV. This stupid Phillips 42" has broken down twice already, and with this being the third time, it was time to say good bye permanently. So the conversion is put on hold till I can save up the necessary again. The new set is great. A 50" LG full HD Plasma with stunning pictures. However changing channels is just not the same thrill as changing gears I'm afraid.
