Although I have some sympathy for you losing your car, I have absolutely no sympathy for what you and your mates were doing. Frankly I find it a little hard to believe your story in it's entirety. So you and your mates were out doing "burn outs" on the streets of Auckland? You therefore deserve to have your car impounded. These are streets you are doing this on. People live and work on these streets. You are putting those peoples lives at risk as well as your own. If you want to do burn outs, go to Meremere to the track. The streets of Auckland are better off without your kind.

Now Ford can start a new business with all their old V8 Blocks once their car making business folds.

Are you telling us that it's been stolen Andrew? If it has been, then I'm very sorry for you and hope that it is insured. Brian.

He would have to have been doing a hell of a speed to inflict that much damage on an Audi.

Fake or no fake I'll never go to Central America. Not after that anyway.

I wonder how much the Dunedin City Council paid for someone to come up with that slogan?

I have three spare tickets to the Top Gear show on Saturday 14th Feb 2009, the 8.00pm show. They are in row C so should be very close to the action. The cost was $120.00 + $5.00 booking fee. ie $125.00 all up. If anyone wants to come to the show then PM me. If you are an out of towner, I can offer overnight accomodation as well. These tickets go on sale to the public on Monday and from what I can tell they will be very scarce.

I'm keeping this bumped coz I think it's typical yankee over the topness.

No, it's not a chop. It's a 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow built by Joe's Street Rod Shop. Poking out of the hood behind the Spirit of Ecstasy is a blown 572-ci Chrysler Hemi that is bottle fed to a more-than-adequate 1,350 horsepower. The car has all of the luxury touches you would expect from a Roller, including full leather, Vintage Air A/C, four TVs and a jar of Grey Poupon. Underneath it's a full tilt boogie runner with a Chris Austin chassis, Air Ride, Wilwood brakes, full tubs and Billet Specialties Riviera wheels. It even has a leather-swathed trunk with matching coverings for the batteries, fuel cell and bottle. Notice the leather wrapped roll cage inside as well, a very elegant touch, and one that sums this sophisticated beast up perfectly.

I watched the game (through a haze of beer, bourbon and other nefarious mind altering substances I admit) and I'm sure Natham Cayless was the captain. Perhaps Benji was captain while Nathan was being spelled. But I could be wrong.

I've found it. Scotland's answer to the Haka.
-
"In rugby league's first semi-final last week, New Zealand's captain, Benji Marshall, sneeringly attributed his team's victory to being fired up by England's "utter disrespect" at not watching the haka." Before this idiot of an author starts criticising things he had better get his facts right. When has Benji Marshall ever captained the Kiwis?
-
If you can't beat them, then criticise them.

My brother-in-law had a set of Nexen tyres put on his Toyota Surf by Johno a couple of months ago, and he has nothing but praise for them.He especially commented on their quietness and their grip. I'll be putting them on my car once my noisy old Yokohama's have worn down (probably in another 10,000 kms). BTW. I believe that the Nexen brand is actually owned by Michelin, johno can correct me if I'm wrong.

Graham, Used Japanese imports are NOT "pieces of unwanted rubbish from a "wealthier" country." You just don't understand the Japanese system. In Japan the Government has set in place certian laws to protect their vehicle manufacturing industry. Insurance premiums increase very markedly for vehicles over 5 years of age. Registration charges for a car over 7 years old is almost unaffordable. It is far cheaper to buy a new car than trying to keep a 7 year old car on the road. This is done to ensure that the local fleet is modern and the manufacturers are gauranteed a local market. Not many 5-7 year old cars are rubbish, and it is far better to sell these vehicles to overseas than recycling them. The Japanese used car market has benefitted not only Japan, but all the other countries that import them. Don't use Australia as an example of what NZ should look like either. Imports are rare in Australia because the government is protecting their vehicle manufacturing industry. and the average age of the Australian fleet is considerably older that the NZ fleet.
