My "spare" 325 gearbox has stuffed synchros on second gear. On stripping box down we find we need to replace all four synchro cones. They look quite unusual and have like teflon linings? Where is best place to buy replacements?

BMW E30 started being built at the factory in November 1982, and went on sale in December as 1983 models. My 320i was manufactured January, 1983, so is also one of the very ealy ones.

how does yours go? FL or pre FL pistons? Goes alright (Hartage is just jealous) It was a Facelift Motorport engine we started with, which from memory have different pistons. The rings were expensive. I think they had to come from Australia and were around $350 plus GST.

When engine builder assembled my 2.7 engine, he found there was no need to deck the block. That was same deal - 2.7 crank and rods, 325i pistons, block and head. So no need to adjust camshaft timing.

Is this for toe in only, or toe and camber? I am keen if for both. There is a bit of work to do in attaching them to the rear subframe, are you proposing an exchange system for this?

Are the side panels / skirts for a two door or a four door?

What are the recommended next step up from E30 325i injectors?

I have my engine apart being freshened and builder just rang to say Kelford, Franklin etc will not regrind BMW M20 cams as they cause problems with the tappet adjusters being to small blah blah blah. Who has had a cam regrind done and how did you overcome the adjuster problem?

Apparently you can modify the E36 rack, there is a paragraph or two on how to do it in the E30 restoration bible

My thoughts for what they are worth 1. Why specify that upholstery has to be removed? This immediately makes the car ineligible for any other "classic" race series. 2. Why does the car have to be registered and warranted? With no upholstery (see #1) who is going to drive it on the street? 3. Why allow an overbore? I have yet to see a BMW block that needed a rebore, but allowing it means everyone has to do it to gain parity. 4. There was some comment about making the car eligible for Targa. Hmmm. Unlikely aniyone would build one of these cars for this series and then use it for the Targa, where your performance would be compared against thioose in the similar looking but very different performing 325i's, M3's et al. I know that is not what Targa is all about but still... Still, that is not to say it wont be a great series, if there are enough cars. And the cars will look good. Lets see how it goes!
