how much for the nomos and GS?
  5. my advice is do the clear film on the front of the car, bonnet, front guards, front bumper, and call it a day. should cost about 1-2k and thats good enough imo.
  6. havent done it personally because I dont buy new cars nor do i keep them for a long time. but if i did buy new and planned to keep it i would think its a good idea to do it. know a couple of people who have done the front end and it has been worth it especially in NZ due to poor road surfaces. but I thought you were considering a wrap in that smurf blue in which case its probably a waste of money?
  7. they are not any worse than BMWs the biggest problem is underservicing, same as any other car owned by the majority of NZ. oil starvation leading to premature engine damage, water pump failure leading to overheating, typical things like that that we (bmw owners) are well used to are considered "high maintenance" because its no toyota that happily will run without oil and water for 200,000 kms.
  8. nothing wrong with minis! I would have another one in a heartbeat if I had the space
  9. there is a thread on here somewhere, look for "m5 bearing" and it should come up. same kind of job anyway

    Bmw 116i jerking

thinking about what the OP has written and whats been said at the different shops, i am starting to think that maybe this is not a trans problem but indeed just the nature of the 116i engine and it's issues. If you drive the car in tiptronic mode and shift through the gears with appropriate rev's with your accelerator pedal, does it feel smooth and no problems?
  12. nah, but think they're kind of cool looking. i also think that this 4 door tall type of car is ideal as a first car. honda jazz, toyota ist, mazda 2, suzuki swift, etc etc. if you want to stretch the budget a but a mini cooper s manual is awesome but they tend to need a fair bit of work from time to time (like a bmw) at $5k i dont think you will find anything good from BMW to be honest. small sporty and manual for under 5k whilst being reliable doesnt go together. i personally would not recommend 2L and bigger sports cars as a first car. also the MR2 and miata's are all a bit dangerous looking for a n00b driver in my opinion. also doesnt help that these are rear wheel drive cars so easy to spin out in the rain/wet. theres nothing wrong with a good honda or toyota as a first car. no doubt she will want to change within the first year so wouldnt worry too much except learning how to drive properly first.

    The Wheels Thread

@NZ_InFerno the style 350M and BBS RG-R are both perfect fit on the 1 series. the staggered 350M will allow you to fit much wider rears like 265 35 18 and 235 40 18 on the front. the RG-R you can go for 235 40 18 square and these wheels are light weight, less than 10kgs easy

  16. crazy deal. would sell quick if it was on trademe, but no one wants to pay so much for a listing. try listing it on other sites and or facebook?
  17. the wheels are indeed from the F20, our 116i has these wheels. if you feel like changing to some 18" wheels let me know, i got a *few* sets of wheels for sale... haha
  18. charge pipe exploded so have ordered replacement aluminum charge pipe and boost pipe too.. will probably get an intake pipe and maybe a different airbox too sooner or later.
  19. nice! although I love my M135, the B58 in the M140 is something else. it would be the perfect daily for sure.
  20. The last newest BMW i would like to own is the M2 Comp. Imo its the next step up from the 1M, better in every way.
  21. the height of the doors is crazy high compared to the previous model.. makes the rear look really fat and bulged out too because it curves upwards whereas the previous model is more straight
  22. strip it out and track car? who needs rear seats anyway in a coupe..
  23. anyone have some lying around? doesnt matter what brand as long as it has some tread left on it, just want to test fit some wheels with tyres on it
  24. bit off topic but MPE is awesome though I am biased since I have one..
