On mine it was on the ignition barrel, top corner closest to driver... it's one of the thicker wires on there.... hopefully these cars are all wired the same and it is a green one on yours too
-
How'd you go with the killswitch? sorted it out?
-
Yep, just gotta wait for the authority card to come through so i can get a WoF.... u'll be fighting a few people for the passengers seat, i'm pretty much booked for 3 strait weeks of taking people for rides lol
-
Just wheels and tyres really... when i get some money i might consider new bushes and a new exhaust, but student wages aren't that high
-
Vaseline u can get from a supermarket
-
Some pics from this afternoon.... And i know i'm a shocking photographer and the car is filthy, but you get the idea... Passed my scrutineering for the authority card sweet as today, so should be on the road real soon
-
Nope, i am using new mounting points, the point i was trying to make is that a 6 point harness requires one more attachment than a 5 point (obviously) which means i had to make up one more mounting point for each side..... a little bit of a hastle, but its done now. Update: Roof is now re-painted (a stylish black roof making it look like an early cortina with a vinyl roof), roll cage padding is in, so pretty much ready for the authority card...
-
Update : Car is back together... getting the dash back in was a mission, probably need to make some new mounting points, as i had to cut the passenger side one off ( i managed to get my rollcage real tight against my pillars ) Just need to get windscreen in, paint roof and get an inspection for my authority card and then it'll be pretty much done
-
At least the airbags went off lol.... doesn't look like they were the life-saving technology they're supposed to be.... nothing could save you from that but luck!
-
Yep, just 3 mm auto cable from supercheap, and just spliced the green wire on the ignition... took 2 tries to find the right wire, but if u stuff up its just a matter of reconnecting the cut wire.... seems to work, when the engines running it kills it, and when you try to start it the only thing that goes is the starter motor... no ignition, and no fuel
-
I've found the wipers without the metal inserts work fine if they are a quality brand, at supercheap the only complaints we get about the aunger range is that the squeak and thats just cos the person buying them couldn't figure out their wiper blade itself was stuffed too
-
I wired my kill switch straight through the ignition, cos apparently with some cars if you just kill the battery it can keep running off the alternator sometimes, or fry your entire circuit... i just didnt want to take any risks
-
Lol i had a similar problem in my e30, wouldnt warm up at all, turned out the thermostat was rusted open
-
Yeah, definitely good value for money... can't wait to bolt it in proper and go for a drive, and the harnesses are pretty mint too, apart from having to drill one extra hole each side for the 6th mounting point..... but whats 2 extra holes when ive already drilled six
-
To be MSNZ approved it just has to be a quality replacement seat by a known manufacturer... i made sure i read all the rules at least 3 times If the class ever ends up going national or something i figured i'd just upgrade the drivers seat, but for now i cant afford $600each Update: Cage is painted, sourced a windscreen thanks to mosen europarts, so should be back together this time tomorrow and then it's just waiting for the authority card before i go for my WoF
-
Yep, its practically impossible with the old steering wheel... but safety first lol
-
I guess it must be about time for an update... i've done just a little work.. - Cage is practically done (waiting on homologation) - Picked up seats last week - Picked up suspension this week Cage front view Door View Test fitting seats The seats fit pretty well, so i'm stoked... just need to drill some holes to mount the back of the rails
-
Mine was real quiet in all conditions before i started stripping it... it was unnerving, becos my other cars have all been way louder (cheap jap traps). But it was completely stock, and seems to have pretty good tyres on it.

So heres my opinion... lol if anyone even cares I'm an 18 year old student living off my student loan. I have a part time job and work 25 hours a week so i can support myself and pay for my racecar. Even though i am getting $150 a week interest free from the government it isnt anywhere near enough to live on in hamilton, and i'm not even buying booze everyweek... i must've bought about 10 boxes in total this whole year. So at the end of the year i will be earning minimum wage trying to pay off a $12,000 student debt. Some may say that i should have worked in high school. I was a top student in my class, and i didnt get there by working at the local mcdonalds after school everyday. In saying that i did try to get a job, but not many people are willing to take on 16 yr olds, even though they can pay them peanuts. The reason i cant get a student allowance is because apparently my dad earns too much, even though he lives over 500kms away, he is forced to help out because the government believes you dont have to pay for your kids education unless you can afford to. Even worse, his job could be moving overseas next year, so he will be over 500kms away... a bit hard to go home for tea if i cant afford food on the weekend. However i know of some people whos parents hide everything in companmies, earn 3 times what my parents do and still get $180 a week for free. Is that fair? My parents worked hard for their money. As a kid i saw my dad very little as he worked for an oil company and was always travelling. There is no way my mother could have worked, because there simply isnt enough time in the day to sort out a household and look after her 3 kids, plus another 2 she cared for. She now works, but can only do so because her eldest two have left home. She is still struggling to mantain a busy household and has been forced to look for a job with less hours. But i am glad she didnt work when i was a kid.. i remember many happy times during my childhood, and none of them were at kindy or even school. In fact i have no memory of kindy at all, so that certainly didnt leave much of an impression on me. I am a man of the world, i have been around... i lived in singapore and thailand, and i must say it would be a said day if New Zealand dropped to their standards of poverty. In thailand the dole involves lying on the street half naked with a cup in front of you, begging. Do we really want that in NZ? I believe nationals policies will only make it worse for everyone out there who wasnt lucky enough to get a good education, or a good job and couldnt manage to fight for themselves. Some people out there are just unlucky. WOW... didnt expect to write that much

If i bother voting at all i'll probably vote labour... so when i nearly kill myself doing something stupid all those taxpayers out there can foot the bill.... and they did bring my interest free student loan... but then national reckons they'll pay 10%.... not keen on massive taxcuts tho... all they ever do is make the rich richer, to me its about $1 a week since im so underpaid anyway
-
Sweet, now i just have to wait a week til tech re-opens so i can finish my cage... and get some seats .... i was a little worried cos its a bit hard to move a car thats not road legal to wellington without a trailer
-
Yeah... most people i know reckon i dont need one... but im not sure where they r gettn their info from, and i need the car road legal soon so if i needed a cert for something i would need that done first so... mayb i shud talk to vtnz....
-
Would anyone be able to tell me whether anything i do to the car to make it up to e30 class spec would require a cert? or is it all covered through the authority card? ie. my roll cage, seats, harnesses, springs + shocks and wheels...
-
Got some pics of the airbox now... and got the front laterals of the cage almost done... so stoked im finally gettn somewhere Cold Air Box with Pod Filter I think its a little low... so working on a solution Cold Air Box without filter.... A little more complicated than it needs to be New Project : Lid for Cold Air Box Hopefully this will help it to stay "Cold".... wouldnt be a good CAI without the "cold" bit
-
Just fabricated one... its only 1mm mild steel so i dont know if it'll do anything, and its waaay more complicated than it should be... just clears the alternator belt too.I think it's actually a little too short, as it isn't indenting the heatshielding under the bonnet, so maybe too much clearance? I'll post some pics up soon... mayb tuesday
