So after spending the last few weeks getting this car right (Thanks to the Ray & the boys at HellBm) finally got it out for it's part time job - towing. Took it for a test to the local riding grounds, and wow. Moving on from a 2.7L Nissan Mistral to the 540i, well lets just say I have never in my life had to continually check my speed while towing... Didn't even feel the almost 1300kg load up the hills and acceleration and gear changes were just spot on - I think my horse had a bit of a ride in luxury there. We did look like the odd ones out in a crew of trucks and 4x4's though! A few piped up and said it must struggle towing, just told them it will tow harder than their 3L Diesel ever will... Only trouble we had was traction up my gravel drive - let's just say there was a very long period of traction control getting angry at me... It doesn't sit too low to the ground (my car is on a slight uphill in this picture) but will need to check that weight on the tow ball as my float did look a little downhill - my float is really high off the ground. Anywho - cheers to those for a spot on suggestion going with the 540i. And again a big thanks to Ray & Team for all the work they have done to get this girl in great running order!

I think it would of worked - all the mates that said BMW didn't get in, those who said Audi, Honda, Porsche etc got in

Could have gone up - but around $80-$100 cheaper than new (depends who you ask..) Worth it in the long run I guess, but second hand generally does the job too haha.

It's one of those things where it's sort of test and trial - but the fault code that came with mine was "Cable Clamp R on GM3" - now the ignition switch is classed as 'Terminal R' and as Ray from Hellbm said to me, they sometimes get lost in translation. I took my car down to HellBM to get it read, and honestly, best thing you can do, might not give you the exact answer, but will sure lead you in the right direction. Check your interior lights, steering adjustment, rear blind (if you have one) and visor lights - they generally go too. I had the entire works, everything was gone, and all I got was a blank screen with just the date/time down the bottom, or it would freeze on the main screen. There is a post about my problems in this topic (E39 Electrical Gremlins) have a look at a few things suggested by members there - but as Ray has done a fantastic job with my car and dealing with me, I would recommend heading there Edit: Woops, in this topic, not Electrical.

Haha! That would be a good laugh, I must admit. I love a nice looking set of rims on a car, for me it gives a big draw to it. But after googling and comparing the sizes, I think 18 will do just fine, but until then I will clean up my current ones (paint peeling etc) Plus I have brand new tyres on mine.. Able to install one without DSP? Had a quick read and looks super handy as all my music is run off my phone via spotify. How much did this cost you guys? (Approx) Took a video of the sound system in there at the moment, doesn't sound too bad being recorded on a phone and at a volume which would eventually deafen your brain cells Apologies if you hate the song, tried looking for one with a bit of bass as that what generally causes me to rip my hair out if it sounds shocking...
