maybe get someone who knows what they are looking at to give it the once over.BMW dealer,or one of the above mentioned places -
sometimes if you just adjust them up and down a few times every time you get in the car,for a few day it cleans itself up.
-
pity there no proper BMW there
-
can relate to that the 535 is not exactly pleasant round town.
-
my 535 came debadged option 320 MODEL DESIGNATION, DELETION then the dealers stuck M badges on,I think all the 535 "is" were like this,I think a deliberate by BMW to mimic e34 m5 s because they knew very few would be sold(M5 i mean)
-
an 535is is prolly cheaper than a 325 and the 5 is a much much nicer car,and they DONT rust
-
unreliable? and track car doesnt sound like much fun,or are the unreliable bits more the road car periphery?
-
put you on the spot bruce.....which is the better car,E34 or E39....bias and opinions welcome!
-
all you need is the chassis number and a co operative BMW dealer
-
personally i think that is a little bit unrealistic.I mean you are buying an old car which has prolly had many many owners,it is unlikely that maintenance will be up to date.I think you have to bank on some "unscheduled" maintenance items,on obscure things such as you have mentioned
-
love the neat front number plate mounting....i bet that things has grunt at both ends of the rev range...how much would a set of decent wheels cost?
-
quote the chassis number(last 7 digits of the vin) at the dealer and yo u will get a version of this Type code HD12 Type 535I (ECE) Dev. series E34 () Line 5 Body type LIM Steering RL Door count 4 Engine M30 Cubical capacity 3.50 Power 155 Transmision HECK Gearbox MECH Colour DIAMANTSCHWARZ METALLIC (181) Upholstery SCHWARZ LEDER (0203) Prod. date 1989-12-01 Order options No. Description 200 KATALYSATOR - ENTFALL (no catalytctic converter) 209 LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (25%) 226 SPORTS SUSPENSION SETTINGS 291 BMW LM SCHMIEDERAD/KREUZSPEICH (alloy wheels) 302 ALARM SYSTEM 320 MODEL DESIGNATION, DELETION (no model badge) 335 M TECHNIC SPORTPAKET (mtech body kit, front spoiler skirts, rear wing, aero rear bumper cover) 339 SATIN CHROME (matt black finish around windows instead of chrome) 401 SLIDING/VENT ROOF, ELECTRIC 458 SEAT ADJUSTMENT, ELECTRIC. i can easliy get to tauraunga frm welly on a tank,a normal open road tank would be close to 10 l 100 k,and thats about as good as a e34 535 gets.round town in welly with hills and traffic my average by obc is 13.7l100km,stop start is worse
-
pass......
-
what are the big ticket repair items?126 k the thing is still new!
-
cos you dont need to buy a 2500 warranty to be able to sleep at night
-
e e32 would be a lot of car for the money. The self levelling rear suspension would be the achilles heel all the rest of the stuff wouldnt actually stop it running.Same with a five series. The only prob with the M30 is they arent light on the gas.....
-
if brent has nothing you can make me an offer on these 17x8 20 offset some curbing and slight bends, but there are at least two that will run without causing any shimmy,Two of the tyres prolly arent warrantable the others are just....
-
have they changed the rules/eligibilty.This is the same series that was full of e 39 M5s,e 60 545 and 550 supercharged Jags and turbo Audis???
-
replacing the brake light is super easy compared to what you have just done!
-
m30 do have oil leak potential.its a 20 yr old car!the m30 is pretty buullet proof with amajor exception. At some point no matter how well they are maintained they will develop a head gasket leak, this is because the block is iron and the head is alloy, differential movement one day becomes too much for the gasket.if you dont do work yourself this could be thousands to fix.see if you can find out if it has been done. what is the mileage? the m30 doesnt have a steady smooth idle mine has always had a slight "hunt" varying by 50 to 100 rpm around 700 750 rpm.vacumn leaks cause a rough idle

A lot of the ACC woes is related to the changing model of funding. The acc aint broke it has massive reserves and successful investments. We went through all this when the govt/acc tried to put up motorcycle ACC levies up over 1000 for over 600 cc motorbikes. They went up a bit and they will prolly put them up again and again over the next few years. As Allan says its hard being a small country with big shoes to fill. Our whole population is Barely more than a decent city.
